Episode 11 of Buried Hearts started out with Yeom Hui Cheol having a serious chit chat with his uncle Yeom Jang Seon. Hui Cheol went over to his uncle’s place to tell him about the divorce between him and Eunnam. The thing that pissed off Mr. Yeom was Hui Cheol feeling bad about what happened during his high school years in the rugby team. Hui Cheol felt that it was really unnecessary for him to use his uncle’s power to kick Dongjoo out of the rugby team for no good reason.
Hui Cheol thought that it would have been better losing to Dongjoo fair and square instead of winning using his uncle’s power and this really made Yeom Jang Seon super mad. I’m starting to think that Hui Cheol isn’t a bad guy, he was once a young boy who was competitive and maybe he could’ve been Dongjoo’s good friend but that didn’t happen because of his elders like Mr. Yeom.
Hui Cheol thought that he won at the time but he realized that he didn’t really win because he had to use his powerful uncle to get his way which wasn’t really winning to him. Mr. Yeom was so pissed because saying that he would’ve been better off losing to Seo Dongjoo was unacceptable in the old man’s eyes. Mr. Yeom Jang Seon, Hui Cheol’s uncle was so pissed off that he ended up beating his nephew.
Hui Cheol’s aunt tried to stop her husband from beating their nephew but couldn’t stop him from doing so but Mr. Yeom pushed her out of the way and beat the crap out of the poor Hui Cheol.
Eunnam asked Dongjoo where he got the old photo from and then Dongjoo asked if she knew the man in that particular picture. Eunnam answered Dongjoo’s question by telling him that the man in that photo is her dad.
Dongjoo’s face looked pretty serious and concerned which I could completely understand and Eunnam said something that made his facial expression look a lot worse when she said that the child that her father is holding isn’t her.
Eunnam had no idea about the child that her father was carrying so she asked Dongjoo about the child but he acted as if he didn’t know who he was either. At this point Dongjoo was thinking that Eunnam’s father might be his father too which means she would be his blood related sister and if that were to be true then they were having an incestual relationship since they did some stuff on Episode 1 as we all know.
Eunnam wanted to know how Dongjoo got the picture then she realized the paper photo and the one from the phone were the same although she looked surprised of course.
Eunnam was wondering if the pretty looking young woman was the child’s mother then Dongjoo finally decided to tell her how he got a hold of that picture and he told her that he coincidentally found the photo as he was doing some research on Mr. Heo Ildo and Mr. Yeom Jang Seon.
Eunnam seemed very surprised when Dongjoo said he found the photo coincidentally while he was doing some research about Heo and Yeom. Dongjoo was calm when he answered her, he said yes, it was all coincidental.
After Eunnam left Dongjoo’s car he thought about what she said regarding the man who was carrying him when he was just a little boy. Dongjoo just had a hard time accepting the fact that the man in the photo was her father and for now he thinks that the man is his father which would make Dongjoo and Eunnam real siblings. Just the thought of it is kinda gross. Honestly, this show is beginning to confuse me while annoying me at the same time. The only reason why I’m watching this show is because of Hyungsik and if it weren’t for him I wouldn’t watch a show like this really….
Cha Deokhui told her daughter Eunnam that she spoke with Hui Cheol over the phone and she was able to sense that Hui Cheol really didn’t want to get a divorce. Maybe deep within Hui Cheol didn’t want to go on ahead with the divorce but I guess he wanted to be the better man and let her go. I really don’t like Eunnam and honestly I think that she’s one of the most selfish female leads in a Shikkie drama, probably more so than Jina from Suits and even Aro from Hwarang…..
Deokhui wanted Eunnam to go back to Hui Cheol and she made it seem as if everyone wanted her to do that, although both Eunnam and Hui Cheol thought that it was meaningless to maintain their relationship as a married couple since it was nothing but a business transaction anyways.
Heo Ildo was telling Eunnam that she made a deal with the family and especially with her grandfather. Chairman Cha gave her the Daesan stocks/share for marrying Hui Cheol. Eunnam demanded that her grandfather give her more money and that’s the only way she would marry this Hui Cheol guy. Man, Eunnam was selfish from the very beginning. I guess she wanted more than she could chew……
Eunnam was telling her grandfather that she pretty much did what she learned from the beginning which was making business transactions and this marriage with Hui Cheol was just that, nothing more and nothing less. However, Chairman Cha wasn’t completely satisfied with that action. He asked her how much she wants to maintain her relationship with Hui Cheol but I don’t think that’s gonna change her mind because she’s so done with being with the Yeom family. Eunnam’s body and soul needs Dongjoo and just him.
It’s so obvious that Eunnam really wants Dongjoo back because her grandfather, Chairman Cha was willing to give her as much of Daesan shares as possible but she said she was willing to return all of Daesan stocks for breaking off the marriage.
I’m not a huge fan of Chef Do’s wife, she loves complaining so much. Chef Do’s wife was complaining about how her husband had to go out and look for live eel which was super difficult to find late at night. Chairman Cha wanted chef Do to go out and find live eel to make some high quality porridge for Dongjoo.
Butler Gong told Chef Do to make the porridge as bland as possible for Dongjoo and put a little bowl of soy sauce on the side for the chairman. It’s funny how Chef Do’s wife was saying maybe Director Seo/Dongjoo might possibly be the chairman Cha’s son because he makes them make all kinds of high quality stuff for the young man.
Butler Gong was so pissed at what Chef Do’s wife was saying about Dongjoo and Chairman Cha that the lady butler warned Mrs. Do that if she doesn’t stop talking about stupid nonsense she’s gonna get fired immediately. Butler Gong was so mad that he told Chef Do and his wife that if any one of them spoke nonsense they would have to pack up their bags and leave even if the Chairman wouldn’t be able to eat since he is so used to their cooking.
Chef Do was scolding his wife telling her not to talk so much because if she continues on that route they could get fired and get kicked out but Mrs. Do was telling her husband that they wouldn’t have to worry about that since they won’t fire them no matter what they say because the Cha family would need them since the old man is so used to their cooking by now.
Butler Gong was surprised to see Seo Dongjoo in her room, he was sitting there in her room waiting for her. Dongjoo sent the photo to Butler Gong’s phone and that definitely freaked her out. Dongjoo already knew that the child in that photo was him when he used to live as Seong Hyeon and he just wanted to get some sort of confirmation from Butler Gong. Butler Gong didn’t say much but the look on her face and a simple nod was enough for Dongjoo.
The Daesan badge that Dongjoo cherished so much was given to him by Yeo Soonho/Eunnam’s father. Dongjoo couldn’t believe that Butler Gong would still deny the fact that he is Seong Hyeon unlike Chairman Cha which actually acknowledges his true identity.
Eunnam’s father seemed to treat Dongjoo or rather Seong Hyeon like his own son back when he was still alive during his childhood days. Dongjoo couldn’t help but to be curious about whether Deokhui knows about his true identity and when he asked Butler Gong about that she was trying her best to make it seem as if Cha Deokhui has no idea about Seong Hyeon when she was the one who took that polaroid photo for him back then.
Butler Gong said Deokhui had never seen Seong Hyeon before which is a big lie since it was confirmed that she was the one who took that photo in one of the previous episodes. Dongjoo was like, is that right? Meaning, Dongjoo is aware that Deokhui knows too by his manly intuition I suppose….
Since Butler Gong was denying the fact that Deokhui was unaware of Seong Hyeon, she should just keep it a secret till the very end. Dongjoo was threatening Butler Gong with his manly deep voice and his manly face with a little bit of wrinkles on his forehead. Dongjoo used his intimidation tactic to get Butler Gong to keep her end of the bargain and promise not to tell anybody about his true identity as Seong Hyeon.
Of Course Butler Gong told Dongjoo that she’ll keep the end of her bargain and keep that promise then she went over to her drawer and pulled out something from a long time ago to give to Dongjoo. Butler Gong handed over something that was wrapped nicely and it was a book that Yeo Soonho wanted her to give to Seong Hyeon when he was a child.
Dongjoo was surprised that Butler Gong didn’t give it to him sooner and she said maybe it was because Yeo Soonho passed away soon after she received that book from him. Also, Mr. Yeo drew a portrait of him along with the book that he was gonna give him according to Butler Gong. Right after Butler Gong told Dongjoo about the details of the gift, she told him to give up on Eunnam.
Dongjoo was getting annoyed by these adults being nosy with his personal matters and he was also annoyed by the fact that Butler Gong and Miss Cha/Deokhui were the ones who abandoned him.
Butler Gong looked even more nervous when he corrected himself and said that Butler Gong and Deokhui were the ones that tried to kill him. These scenes really prove that Hyungsik has range cus he could be so polite and even sweet but when you make him angry his eyes will tell you that he’s not gonna just sit idly by, they look really scary to be honest….
Dongjoo was threatening Butler Gong again asking her if they still want him dead but he is not far off from that sentiment since Deokhui always talks about wanting him dead.
At this point Dongjoo still thinks that Eunnam’s dad is his father too which is kinda disturbing when you think about it. Dongjoo was getting closer to Butler Gong as if he was gonna physically harm her while asking why the heck he is getting this gift from his already dead father. In Episode 11, I was a little creeped out by Dongjoo but I don’t blame him with all the stuff that’s going around him as he is slowly learning about who he really is.
Dongjoo was expressing his agony to Butler Gong saying that there is so much he would like to know about his past and what the Cha family had been doing to him with his past. Dongjoo could rightfully go out there and start asking every single person in the Cha household about his past but he’s nice enough not to go there so that’s why he’s talking to Butler Gong in private out of consideration for her and everybody else that lives in that household.
Dongjoo told Butler Gong to keep her promise if she doesn’t want to see him flipping the Cha household upside down.
Dongjoo went back into his car and opened up the old gift that Mr. Yeo was gonna give it to him when he was just a child and like what Butler Gong said there was a book for children and a drawing of him which looked exactly like him when he was a child as Seong Hyeon. The drawing of him was him at a library holding a book and Dongjoo just couldn’t help but to sob while looking at it.
I forgot to mention what the book is called. It’s called THE BUTTERFLY’S DREAM. Dongjoo looked at the portrait that Mr. Yeo drew and he observed it for a good few minutes then ripped it to shreds. Dongjoo obviously didn’t want to have anything to do with this part of his life since it’s so painful and all.
Dongjoo wants to completely cut off this ill fated relationship of his childhood. Dongjoo is now an adult and he almost died as a child but overcame that and now he is able to take care of himself so well that Mr Yeo who passed on wouldn’t have to worry about him at all.
Dongjoo was thinking about what Eunnam said earlier about the pretty young woman standing next to Mr. Yeo. Dongjoo just seemed like he wanted to discard this past that brought nothing but misery into his life. Dongjoo not only wanted to cut off the ill fated relationship with Mr. Yeo but he also didn’t want to look for that pretty woman standing next to Eunnam’s father either.
Dongjoo crumpled up the old paper photo and just tossed it away as if it was trash. I totally understand Dongjoo’s sentiment right now, watching this show makes my head hurt with all these silly relationships with crazy ass people.
Dongjoo was so lost in trying to process everything that he didn’t even notice Eunnam coming into the car. Eunnam was telling Dongjoo about her divorce and he couldn’t help but to wonder how she was able to pull it off like that. Eunnam told Dongjoo that her marriage with Hui Cheol was nothing more than a business transaction.
Eunnam didn’t seem to have a clue about the child in the picture although she’d seen him when they were both children but she couldn’t connect the dots meaning that she wasn’t aware about the fact that the little boy in the picture was Dongjoo. Eunnam was telling Dongjoo that she remembers her father bringing the little boy to their house when she was a little girl.
Eunnam thinks that Seong Hyeon is dead although he is alive and well and she is talking to him while he is sitting next to her right now. Eunnam thinks that she was a bit whiny that day because her dad wasn’t coming home to read her a bedtime story. Eunnam was able to sleep only when her father read her a bedtime story but unfortunately her father wasn’t coming home that night. Eunnam was well aware that her father passed away through a bad car accident.
Eunnam remembered what her mom said that night and she said that she wanted them all to die but it really happened so she was freaking out. They wanted to do more research on that particular accident but they couldn’t find any newspaper articles or anything regarding that incident when they were trying to look into it. Eunnam thought it was strange that there was no newspaper article or anything resembling it when her father was the son in law of Daesan group for crying out loud.
Eunnam was saying Heo Ildo was responsible for killing her father and everyone in that car. After hearing this Dongjoo heard what Eunnam just said, he thought about the time when Heo Ildo did manage to shoot him at the vacation spot not too long ago.
Chairman Cha said it will be just him, Ildo and Dongjoo eating breakfast together but Dongjoo didn’t want to eat with Ildo because just thinking about everything Mr. Heo did to him he just couldn’t bring himself to eat with him as if everything is normal with him. Chairman Cha ordered Chef Do and his wife to make some high quality fish stew because Dongjoo really likes it but he turned it down and left the house. Chairman Cha couldn’t understand Dongjoo’s behavior though.
Madam Pi brought Dongjoo over to the site where he was lost near the train tracks as a child. Madam Pi was saying that children who got lost roam on the train tracks to follow a path that could possibly lead them somewhere. Dongjoo saw himself walking on the train tracks which lead him to Sister Agnes/Hyunjoo when she was a young girl.
Hyunjoo was crying when Dongjoo/Seong Hyeon walked over to her. The first thing Seong Hyeon said was, “I’m hungry…” to Hyunjoo who basically became his older sister after Hyunjoo and her mother took him in.
Seong Hyeon demanded Hyunjoo to give him food cus he’s hungry. Dongjoo was wondering what Hyunjoo and her mother thought of him when he showed up like that and Madam Pi told him that they thought of him as their savior at the time. According to Madam Pi, Seong Hyeon pretty much saved his adoptive mother Goo Yoo Jin’s life when he showed up. Goo Yoo Jin was gonna take a bunch of drugs and committ suicide but when Seong Hyeon showed up suddenly, she decided not to take her own life.
Goo Yoojin, Dongjoo’s adoptive mother took him to a restaurant to get a bowl of rice soup and his sister Hyunjoo already thought of him as his real little brother to the point where she was willing to give him her piece of meat in her soup.
Dongjoo or rather Seon Hyeon was bragging about the Daesan badge that Mr. Yeo gave him in front of Hyun Joo and Yoojin.
Meanwhile, Dongjoo went over to Myung Tae Geum’s little back office inside of the musical instrument store and of course Mr. Bae was there too. Dongjoo and company were researching the car accident when he was a child back in 1998 through the internet. Dongjoo’s buddy Taegum was telling him that it would be difficult to find any kind of news article regarding that car accident back in 1998 via the internet.
Dongjoo’s helper Mr. Bae was willing to help him find some local newspaper articles manually instead of looking it up on the internet. By the way, I think it’s definitely a running gag at this point with Bae cus he always shows up in some kind of disguise in this show and maybe Mr. Bae is a professional when it comes to disguising himself for a certain purpose.
Yeom Jang Seon invited Heo Ildo over to his place like usual and there was someone special other than him that Mr. Yeom invited. If Deokhui saw this guest she would completely flip for sure. Who did Yeom Jang Seon invite to his beautiful place? It’s Ji Soo Young, Ji Seonwoo’s mother. This is certainly not good because Heo Ildo’s wife freaking hates Seonwoo’s mother Ji Soo Young.
Gukhui happily skips over to Chairman Cha’s office and she runs into the infamous secret safe and Director Seo. Of course Gukhui was very surprised to see Dongjoo there. Gukhui was so surprised at boxes full of dollar bills so she asked him if all the boxes were of dollar bills and Dongjoo answered yes in the most nonchalant way possible.
Gukhui knew that she was in deep shit cus she realized that her fingerprints were on those boxes but she wanted to make sure so she asked Dongjoo if that was the case and he answered yes to Gukhui’s question.
Gukhui had a feeling that she might have to make a deal with Dongjoo to save herself because she couldn’t let her father find out about her taking money from the boxes.
Dongjoo was willing to help Gukhui from getting in trouble with her father by what she’d been doing but only under one question. Dongjoo wouldn’t do this for free at such a critical point in his life.
Deokhui was looking at a photo on her phone and was thinking about the little talk she had with Dongjoo in front of Ji Sooyoung’s bakery not too long ago. Taeyun came into the room to let his mom know that Chairman wanted everyone to gather to have an important talk with the whole family.
Chairman Cha was telling everyone about the special citrus tea that’s made by the organic oranges from Jeju Islands. The whole family was gathered in the living room but everyone looked so darn awkward though. Chairman Cha was asking Taeyun how his essay writing was going and he responded by saying that everything was going fine then the Chairman looked at Dongjoo and he looked at him back. The awkward atmosphere even made me nervous watching it.
Deokhui didn’t want to drink the tea because apparently, she wanted to focus on what her father was trying to tell them. Tea doesn’t get you drunk but she felt like it had similar effects like alcohol at times. Deokhui told Gukhui that she shouldn’t be drunk on tea and be wide awake to listen to their father.
Basically, Dongjoo was becoming Chairman Cha’s spokesperson. Mr. Cha didn’’t know what to say and to some degree his dementia was seemingly getting worse so Dongjoo was pretty much speaking for him. Dongjoo was telling the family that Chairman Cha’s plan is to make Ji Seonwoo Cha Seonwoo then bring him into the company. Dongjoo was also saying that he’s gonna be in charge of handling Seonwoo’s transfer from Ji Seonwoo to Cha Seonwoo.
Butler Gong, Chef Do and his wife looked pretty shocked hearing this in the kitchen. Butler Gong looked like she was about to faint so she needed something to wake her up so she asked the Do family for some coffee but they gave her some Kopiko instead. Buried Hearts is like Dr. Slump with the Kopiko product placement. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Kopiko, let me tell you it’s delicious coffee candy from Thailand. Kopiko also sells instant coffee too besides the candy that you see in these dramas.
Deokhui told her dad her and Gukhui are the only true bloodline to Chairman Cha so she’s not going to accept anybody else into the family as their sibling whatsoever. Deokhui gave Gukhui the signal to pretty much agree with her.
However, Deokhui wasn’t expecting Gukhui’s response. Gukhui said that her and her husband are all about Chairman Cha being happy for the rest of his life so that’s why she will accept Seonwoo as her brother and Gukhui’s husband said that he supports this too which disappointed Deokhui big time.
Deokhui wasn’t the only one surprised, Heo Ildo was surprised too. Deokhui was so shocked that she was laughing out loud like a crazy person. Taeyun and Eunnam looked pretty surprised as well. Chairman Cha was telling Deokhui that no matter what she says, he’s going to bring Seonwoo into the family because that’s his son after all whether she likes it or not.
Ildo even said that he respects Chairman Cha’s decision and this freaks out Deokhui even more. Deokhui has no idea that Yeom Jang San and her husband was all for Ji Sooyoung and her son Seonwoo being part of the Cha family although this is just Yeom’s strategy to get to what he wants.
Eunnam decided to make a deal with her grandfather which was for him to give up on her giving up the Daesan share then she would be willing to support Ji Seonwoo becoming Cha Seonwoo.
Deokhui was losing it to the point where she got into her alcohol stash and started drinking. Deokhui pretty much felt betrayed, even by Heo Ildo, her husband and of course by everybody else. Butler Gong told her to be quiet and calm down just by saying “Shhhh..” with her index finger on her mouth. Deokhui then calmed down. Deokhui doesn’t seem to listen to anybody else but she does listen to Butler Gong. I feel like Butler Gong pretty much raised the Cha daughters ever since they were children, she’s definitely a mother figure to Deokhui and Gukhui but especially to Deokhui.
Dongjoo decided to pay Mr. Yeom a visit and when he was calling for Mr. Yeom Jang Seon he wasn’t around to greet the young man. However, there was Hui Cheol’s aunt greeting Dongjoo with an attitude which was understandable. Mrs. Yeom thought that Dongjoo was responsible for her dear nephew getting divorced by Eunnam. However, Hui Cheol’s aunt admitted that he was taking Hui Cheol’s divorce out on him and felt bad that she invited him over to have a drink with her in their garden/backyard.
Mrs. Yeom was talking about Dongjoo passing out after eating the cinnamon covered dessert she made and Eunnam wanted to take care of the sick Dongjoo and then ended up divorcing Hui Cheol after all that. At first lady Yeom was blaming Dongjoo for the divorce between Hui Cheol and Eunnam but later she couldn’t help but to blame herself for creating a reason for them to go through with the divorce. Lady Yeom said that she thanked God/Gods for saving Dongjoo’s life and she couldn’t help but to feel that way.
Dongjoo was observing Mr. Yeom’s yard because it looked familiar to him. He was thinking about the time when Mrs. Yeom called him Seong Hyeon and treated him well. Dongjoo or rather Seong Hyeon’s mother took a photo of her son and Mrs. Yeom together. Seong Hyeon’s mother thanked Mr. Yeom’s wife for taking good care of her little boy.
I guess Mrs Yeom was getting used to Seong Hyeonn because she didn’t want him to leave yet. She told the boy to come back for the photo some time in the near future. Seong Hyeon told his mother that he wanted to come back to Mr. Yeom’s house again.
Mrs. Yeom asked Dongjoo if he likes their yard and he responded that he likes it as if he’s been there before and it’s very familiar to him. Mrs. Yeom obviously knows a lot about Dongjoo. She almost mentioned that he’s been there before as a child but couldn’t finish her sentence because Mr. Yeom came and interrupted their conversation.
Mr. Yeom was wondering why Dongjoo was sitting in his backyard without any kind of notice. Dongjoo apologized for showing up and not letting him know in advance. Mr. Yeom was wondering what the two were talking about because they looked like they were enjoying each other’s company.
Dongjoo and Cheon were exchanging paperwork and afterwards Mr. Yeom wanted to have a private chit chat with the younger man. Mr. Yeom thanked Dongjoo because the laundered money was very useful to him and he was able to use it to pretty much intimidate people from wanting to get into politics.
Mr. Yeom invited Dongjoo to his aquarium and then he asked him to feed his little gold fishes there. Mr. Yeom asked Dongjoo if he thinks he is the gold fish being fed or the person who is feeding the goldfish. Mr. Yeom was saying that Dongjoo was nothing but a goldfish being fed by somebody even if he might think that he’s quite capable in many ways. Yeom Jang Seon added that the best hecould be was the number one goldfish who gets fed first, nothing more and nothing less.
Now Mr Yeom doesn’t really care about the whole trillion won thing from before and he just wants Dongjoo to just leave the country instead.
However, Dongjoo was annoyed by the fact that Mr. Yeom was trying to act all generous and besides to Dongjoo that money never belonged to Yeom in the first place.
Dongjoo wouldn’t leave the country until he gets to kill Mr. Yeom first and since he wants him to leave the country asap so he thinks that Yeom wants to die as soon as possible in Dongjoo’s mind. Yeom Jang Seon was saying that he’ll get to see a horrible hell sooner or later.
Dongjoo knew that Mr. Yeom dug up his past for all this time but he is not scared of the horrific hell that he might experience because he lives through so much hell all throughout his life anyways so he wouldn’t have to worry about him.
Dongjoo gave it right back to Yeom Jang Seon saying that he’s the one feeding the goldfish and Yeom is the one who is the goldfish being fed by someone. Dongjoo told Yeom to snap out of it and get back to reality while Mr. Yeom was saying Dongjoo’s limit was just being able to see what’s on the surface and that’s it.
As Mr. Yeom was drinking his high quality wine. He said something meaningful or more like something that’s foreshadowing what’s to come. Mr.Yeom said that Dongjoo was so much better than his father to the point where it’s such a waste for him to kill the young man.
After meeting up with Yeom Jang Seon, Dongjoo went back to the Chairman’s office. Once he got there he saw Cha Seonwoo and his mother too. Dongjoo was a little surprised to be greeted by Seonwoo. Chairman Cha told Dongjoo that he gave Seonwoo and his mother a tour of Daesan.
Chairman Cha told his son Seonwoo to learn about the company and run the company bit by bit through Dongjoo although the young man seemed a little taken aback by this, I guess Seonwoo wasn’t ready for this yet.
The old chairman said that he’s not gonna just give the company over to him for free so he needs to work hard and prove himself. Seonwoo seemed pretty cooperative and his mother looked like she was pleased by all this as well.
Dongjoo handed over the paperwork to the chairman and he looked pretty pleased looking at it.
Chairman Cha also told Dongjoo to prepare to get married to Eunnam once he is done with his own wedding ceremony. Dongjoo looked so shocked by what the chairman said because he still has a lot to work through. Dongjoo didn’t know how to respond to this thing about marrying Eunnam because he still has a lot of problems to solve as far as family issues go.
Chairman Cha asked if Dongjoo was aware of what he wanted and obviously the young man was sharp so he was definitely aware of Mr. Cha’s desire. Chairman Cha felt that the person who will take over the country will be someone that carries on his last name.
Chairman Cha said that he wanted somebody with the Cha lineage to take over the company so he’ll be able to see his father with his grace when he leaves this world. Chairman Cha wanted Dongjoo to hurry up and get married to Eunnam and also he wanted him to take care of Seonwoo, his mom too once that’s all said and done. One of the main reasons why Chairman Cha was rushing Dongjoo to get married to Eunnam was so he could protect Seonwoo and his mom as his grandson in law.
Once Seonwoo and his mom were done meeting with Chairman Cha they were observing Daesan and Seonwoo looked fascinated when he was looking around cus everything looked so fancy unlike the bakery he was working at with his mother. Daesan’s logo is a mountain and Daesan literally means big mountain.
Seonwoo’s mom looked at the fascinated Seonwoo and said that now Daesan is yours. Ji Sooyoung obviously didn’t give up on her dream of making his son part of the Daesan group so Dongjoo was right about this all along.
Meanwhile, Chairman Cha wasn’t joking when he said that he’s gonna make Mr. Choi into an assistant ceo. Mr. Choi looked happy about his new position/promotion. Dongjoo congratulated Mr. Choi and called him Mr. Assistant Chairman already. Mr Choi thought that it was unnecessary for him to set up a fancy welcoming party when doing a simple virtual ceremony was good enough for him but to Dongjoo he didn’t look at it that way. Dongjoo thought that it’s an inauguration for the vice chairman position so it should be done in a proper manner.
Dongjoo went over to a local pub to celebrate Mr. Choi’s promotion as the assistant/vice chairman then he got a call from Mr. Bae. Mr. Bae managed to find a small article regarding the car accident that happened back in 98. The article was very small and it didn’t include a lot of details. The article described the accident as a hit and run.
Deokhui wasn’t a fan of her father marrying Seonwoo’s mother but she realized that she had no other choice but then she was obviously worried about Taeyun and she told Ildo to support Taeyun in these tough times.
Heo Ildo met with Seonwoo’s mother beforehand at Yeom Jang Seon’s place. Ji Soo Young was worried that Seonwoo wouldn’t be able to get along with his sisters and brother in laws who are way older than him but she felt relieved that she was able to meet such a supportive brother in law separately.
Mr. Yeom was saying that it would be a matter of time for Ildo to inherit Daesan because Seonwoo and his mom will be there to support him when the time comes.
Dongjoo had a terrible dream and he was sweating a lot so he needed to talk to his therapist again so he called her super early to set up an urgent appointment with her.
While Dongjoo was getting hypnotherapy treatment through Kangsung’s daughter, Dr Yiheyon, her father Kang Sung was having a drink with Heo Ildo. Kang Sung brought up the people that they were all close with like him, Ildo, Seong Hyeon’s mother Kyungwon, Eunnam’s father Sunhoo, and Deokhui.
Obviously Ildo had a lot on his mind and he couldn’t get his mind off of a lot of things so he was trying to drown his sorrow through alcohol but he felt like the glass was too small that it had no effect on him.
Dongjoo was telling Dr. Yihyeon that he had to drive but he couldn’t. Dongjoo was in a chaotic state mentally and Dr. Kang knew that. Dr. Kang thought this was the perfect timing to show him the video from before where he was saying, Mr. Please help me, Mr. Please save me. Obviously, the little boy Seong Hyeon was in a dire state.
Dr. Yihyeon was showing a video of Dongjoo from before where he was saying, Mister, please help me…Dongjoo channeled his childhood as Seong Hyeon and was remembering bits and pieces of his memory that he’d lost throughout the years. According to Dr. Yihyeon, Dongjoo fell asleep without knowing who was who specifically so Dongjoo was thinking that maybe he figured out the rest of the story to what happened through his dreams.
Dr. Yihyeon advised Dongjoo that maybe he might find the end to this story if he looks at this through the lens of the child who was sitting in the back seat of that car.
Dr. Kang made Dongjoo go through another therapy session and while Dongjoo had his eyes closed she asked him if he still sees the toy puppy and the little boy in the back seat.
Dongjoo answered no to Dr. Kang’s question and he said that there was no toy puppy in the car he was in but he was looking at the toy puppy that was in the car following behind them while it was raining cats and dogs. The toy puppy was in Mr. Heo Ildo’s car and Dongjoo or rather Seong Hyeon was observing it while he was turned around in the back seat.
According to the memory, Heo Ildo was driving behind the car that Dongjoo/Seong Hyeon was in and there was a big truck that came and hit Yeo Soonho’s car. Heo Ildo and his friend Kang were talking about what might have happened then while Dr. Yihyeon was doing a therapy session with Dongjoo. According to Heo Ildo, there was a truck that hit Yeo Soonho’s car and Dongjoo and his mom were in that car too. Dongjoo said that the car was about to fall off the edge too.
Some guy who kinda resembled the administrator guy came up to Heo Ildo and gave him a brown envelope with something important inside. It was a piece of paper with the DNA result on it and according to the result Yeo Soonho and Seo Dongjoo/Choo Seong Hyeon were father and son.
Heo Ildo looked surprised and confused at the same time. Heo Ildo went over to the car where Seo Dongjoo/Choo Seong Hyeon was in. The boy asked Mr. Heo for help but he turned around and just left him there. Dongjoo/Seong Hyeon was bleeding in the face and was crying asking Mr. Heo for help. Dongjoo said, Ajusshi/Hey Mr… please help me…but he was so heartless that he ignored the boy asking for help.
Then Heo Ildo got back into his car and he put a pack of tissue paper in his mouth and stepped on the accelerator to bump into the car that the child was in to the point where the car practically fell over in the most dramatic way. The adult Dongjoo was there and tried to stop it by saying, STOP IT! DON’T!
Episode 11 ended in a dramatic fashion and this drama overall is just taking dramatic turns left and right and it’s quite frankly giving me a headache….
I also want to mention something about Chairman Cha, I am beginning to wonder if he really wants Eunnam and Dongjoo to get married because he cares about the both of them or is this also a business transaction? Hmmmmm….
—————————————————————————————————————–
Episode 12 starts out with Dongjoo still going through his therapy session with Dr. Yihyeon and Heo Ildo having a nice little chit chat with his friend Kang Sung.
Ildo thinks that Kyungwon’s kid passed away along with her and at this point he’s still not able to connect the dots or is he pretending that he doesn’t know what’s going on? Ildo made it seem as though he almost died by this accident as well but he thinks that he was lucky enough to survive. Ildo felt that he was the lucky one because he thinks that he was the only one who survived from that car accident.
The administrator guy gave Ildo an envelope with a very important piece of paper and said that the rest is up to him, then Mr. Heo drove really fast to crash into the car that Seong Hyeon was in. The crash was so bad but somehow Seong Hyeon was able to survive which was a miracle big time!
Dr. Yihyeon was analyzing what Dongjoo was saying in one of their most recent sessions on the laptop but her father interrupted her though. Dr. Yihyeon thought that her father lost his ipad again but he just accidentally left it at his office. Yihyeon’s father opened up the laptop after his daughter left the house and he accidentally watched a little bit of the video with Seong Hyeon/Dongjoo saying something about Heo Ildo. Unfortunately, he got caught because Dr. Kang came back because she forgot to take her phone with her.
Yihyeon was wondering why her father was acting so surprised seeing her and he had no other choice but to tell her about what he just saw. In the video, Seong Hyeon was saying that Mr. Heo was the one who shot him with a gun when he was talking about losing his memory. But Dr. Yihyeon thought that Dongjoo was delusional for thinking that. Dr. Kang was telling his father that this is the reason why Mr. Heo brought Dongjoo over to go through hypnotherapy with her. Even the doctor’s father thought that it was ridiculous of him to think that Heo Ildo was behind Seo Dongjoo’s murder attempt.
Dongjoo wanted to snap out of it so bad that he dunked his whole face in the sink filled with cold water and ice.
Ildo was deep asleep and was in his dream world when his wife Deokhui came into the room to give him a bowl of warm water. Ildo was having a strange dream while he was sleeping, it started out good but then it almost turned into a nightmare. The dream started out with Ildo being congratulated by all of his family members after he got promoted as the Chairman of Daesan Group but there was a smiling child watching with a cute smile in the back and it was Seong Hyeon as a child.
The little Seong Hyeon was using hand gestures to call Mr. Heo over for something. Little Seong Hyeon led Mr. Heo Ildo over so he would look up the window to see the grown up version of him and when Mr. Heo woke up it was really the adult Seong Hyeon or rather Dongjoo looking straight at him.
Dongjoo looked super intimidating and I could kinda see why Ildo looked scared when he saw him like that. Obviously, Dongjoo knew that Mr. Heo had a nightmare too.
Dongjoo wanted to speak with Ildo so badly that he was willing to wait for Mr. Heo to wake up. Dongjoo brought an envelope with something to show to Mr. Heo. Dongjoo brought the copy of the newspaper article of that accident back in 1998. The newspaper article said, a truck crashed into 2 cars, 3 dead and 1 critically injured.
Dongjoo specified the people in the article. Mr. Yeo was referring to Yeo Soonho and Mr. Heo was referring to Heo Ildo. Dongjoo wanted to know what the name of the woman was and Mr. Heo said the name of the woman was Chu Kyungwon. Obviously, Dongjoo was repeating the name but couldn’t really recall that name though.
Heo Ildo was telling Dongjoo that they were all friends back in the day. Heo Ildo, Dr. Yihyeon’s father Kang Sung, Chu Kyungwon, Eunnam’s parents Cha Deokhui and Yeo Soonho were all close friends when they were younger.
Heo Ildo wanted Dongjoo to leave since he couldn’t get his daily work out due to his full schedule. Ildo told Dongjoo that he should tell Eunnam that he wasn’t the one that killed her father Yeo Soonho by showing that article as proof. Dongjoo was already planning to do that anyway so it wasn’t a big deal for him to do that.
But Dongjoo said it would be too cruel to tell Eunnam such a painful truth though. Heo Ildo thought what Dongjoo said was ridiculous since what the article said was the truth since he was hurt real bad to the point where he had to get multiple surgeries too. According to Heo Ildo, he was hospitalized for months to get those surgeries to be performed on him.
Dongjoo countered what Ildo was telling him saying that the survivor doesn’t remember the accident that way. Ildo screamed at Dongjoo and said he was the one that survived the accident and nobody else. Heo Ildo seemed to have no idea that the little boy survived too. According to Mr. Heo the people in that car all died. Yeo Soonho, Chu Kyungwon and her child all died from that accident and he’s the lone survivor from such a horrific incident. But we the audience know that’s not the truth. Heo Ildo was fabricating the memories in his head and recreating what really happened.
Dongjoo showed Heo Ildo what he did at the scene of the accident by putting a pack of tissue in his mouth demonstrating what Mr. Heo did that day. Heo Ildo fastened his seatbelt tightly and stuffed a pack of gas station napkins in his mouth then he reversed his car all the way back and sped up the car to ram the car ahead. Dongjoo was explaining what Heo Ildo did just in case he forgot about what exactly happened that day.
Dongjoo was repeating what Seong Hyeon said to Heo Ildo when he was a little boy. Seong Hyeon said, “Help me Mister! Please Mister! Help me!” Dongjoo looked so intimidating that even Mr. Heo looked a little scared and frightened. I think Heo Ildo had been suppressing his memories just like Dongjoo as if it were some coping mechanism. It’s obviously clear that Heo Ildo had no idea about Dongjoo being Seong Hyeon, he even said that to his friend Kang Sung because he thought that Seong Hyeon died along with Chu Kyung won and Yeo Soonho.
Heo Ildo asked Dongjoo about his true identity and he did not hesitate to let him know that he is indeed Chu Seong Hyeon, the little boy that he thought passed away with his old friends. Dongjoo told Heo Ildo that he’s Chu Seong Hyeon. The boy was in the back seat of that car during the accident and Ildo was shocked when he saw the hair scrunchy that was in Dongjoo’s hand.
Dongjoo thought that Ildo knew that he survived but pretended as if that wasn’t the case at all and he was still denying that fact by shaking his head. Heo Ildo was passed out on the ground and saw the little Seong Hyeon looking up at him and that was exactly what happened but Mr. Heo erased or blocked that fact from the surface of his mind as a coping mechanism. Dongjoo said that their eyes met when Ildo was on the ground about to crawl back up but he completely denied it.
Heo Ildo didn’t want to admit it and was constantly in denial by saying that Dongjoo lost his memory once before and he’s the one who’s making mistakes, kind of like Eunnam. Heo Ildo was coming closer to Dongjoo but the younger man told him not to come closer cus if he does, he might get the urge to physically take him out for good.
Dongjoo warned Mr. Heo that he will give him a chance but he better get his act together by the Chairman’s wedding day and Heo Ildo thought that Dongjoo was stepping out of line with this. Dongjoo claimed that he was the messenger from Heaven, so basically a Godsend. Dongjoo was close to losing his life but he miraculously was able to survive and it’s God’s will to come and tell Heo Ildo the truth. The truth about everything. Dongjoo was taunting him saying that the Heavens/God sent Dongjoo over just for Mr. Heo.
Dongjoo said that with everything going on, Heo Ildo should just leave Daesan for good and Mr. Heo would never do that. Mr. Heo thinks that he should just kill him instead if he’s gonna be kicked out of Daesan. Dongjoo was taunting Heo Ildo some more by saying that he won’t be able to do his chin ups/pull ups while looking down because his days are numbered for doing that too.
Heo Ildo was so intimidated while Dongjoo was confident about it all. After Dongjoo left his room Ildo was reminiscing about the past when he gave the scrunchy to Chu Kyungwon, Seong Hyeon’s mother. Also, Ildo was able to see Seong Hyeon as a little boy in his memory. I think he felt sad to see Kyungwon hopping in Yeo Soonho’s car with the little boy too.
Seong Hyeon looked like a happy little boy, he had a little stuffed toy and was hopping around like an excited little kid.
Mr. Yeom Jang Seon was listening to an Mp3 recording and he got a call from Heo Ildo. Mr. Heo called Mr. Yeom requesting him for something and that was Mr. Yeom providing him with a nice little hand gun.
Eunnam just came from court to finalize the divorce with Yeom Hui Cheol. Eunnam looked relieved while Dongjoo looked a little distant and that’s because he still thinks that the two might be actual half siblings. Even if that weren’t to be the case it might not be the same between them or who knows some form of reconciliation might happen towards the end of this show between these two characters.
Dongjoo asked Eunnam if she’s exhausted from going through with the divorce cus it was obvious that it did take a lot out of her then he gave her some Kopiko candy. Dang, just like in Dr. Slump, Buried Hearts is really advertising the crap out of this coffee candy from Thailand!
Meanwhile, Mr. Bae visited the administrator guy and Jo Yangchoon so they could cough up the dandelion files or whatever. Mr. Bae brought them treats like good books to read, food items, snacks and what not. Mr. Bae was taunting and intimidating the administrator guy so he can just reveal the whereabouts of the dandelion files already. Mr. Bae guaranteed his safety if he just released the damn files right away.
Mr. Bae went over to Jo Yang Choon’s cell after he visited the administrator guy. Jo Yangchoon was determined not to betray his boss over something like this. It’s funny cus for a while Mr. Jo looked like he was willing to cooperate with Mr. Bae and Dongjoo.
Although in the end Mr. Jo gave Mr Bae some hints by telling him that they should go to one of Yeom’s building managed by his boss on basement level seven to locate the dandelion files.
Dongjoo and Eunnam were sitting on the sofa talking about what happened a long time ago. Dongjoo had the newspaper article about the accident and showed it to Eunnam. Dongjoo was comforting the young woman saying that Heo Ildo had a long hospital stay cus he had to get multiple surgeries done on him. Dongjoo comforted Eunnam by saying that he looked into this case and by the looks of it Heo Ildo wasn’t the one who killed his father a long time ago.
Eunnam sounded skeptical about what Dongjoo was telling her but he told her to trust him on this while holding her hand. I don’t know if Dongjoo still loves her like she does, I think he does but for some reason he still feels distant towards her.
As Dongjoo and Eunnam were hugging each other he made sure that she understands that everything he’s telling her right now is the truth. Then Eunnam started asking him about the woman and her kid that were in that car. Dongjoo didn’t tell Eunnam the complete truth since he didn’t answer Eunnam’s question truthfully. When Eunnam asked if the woman and her kid died in the accident, he answered yes to that when he is that kid and is alive and well.
Mr. Bae and Dongjoo were talking and Bae was telling Dongjoo that the dandelion files are located where the administrator guy works at.
Eunnam wants to return to Daesan energy now but Mr. Heo just said he’ll look into it. For some reason Mr. Heo wasn’t very enthusiastic about Eunnam returning to the company.
Eunnam was confessing to Heo Ildo that Dongjoo told her everything about the accident. Eunnam said that she was scared all this time because the man who killed her father became her step father and that frightened her big time. Eunnam was telling her step father that Dongjoo told her everything about the accident because he wanted to help her cus it looked like she was struggling with her life.
Eunnam was having a chit chat with her parents and Taeyun came down and asked them if they wanted to have a bowl of ramen with them but they didn’t seem all that interested. Taeyun went over to the kitchen and was making his famous ramen noodles. Taeyun was deep in thought while his noodles were boiling in the pot, he was thinking about what he witnessed earlier today.
Dongjoo was telling Heo Ildo that their eyes met right before the car crash and that was when Taeyun started overhearing their conversation although he didn’t open the door all the way so he wouldn’t interrupt their conversation.
Dongjoo asked Ildo if he was willing to leave Daesan so he could live and unfortunately, Taeyun heard all this. This is sad cus Taeyun really thought of Dongjoo like his own big brother but now it might be hard for him to think of him that way since his father and Dongjoo are like enemies now.
Butler Gong was planning to get more herbal medicine through an oriental doctor and she asked Deokhui if she wanted to add anything to the list and she wanted some more licorice root because it has a sweet taste to it. Deokhui wants to make Taeyun drink some herbal medicine since he’s been struggling lately with family drama and all. Taeyun is going through a lot because Chairman Cha seems to care more about Cha Seonwoo and now the guy that he thought was a big brother is an enemy to the Heo family.
Deokhui and Butler Gong were having a conversation about Taeyun, herbal medicine and a particular herbal doctor that Deokhui wanted Butler Gong to go to, Eunnam interrupted them.
As soon as Eunnam came into the room she showed her mom the picture she took from her phone. Deok Hui said she deleted the photo and was wondering why she still has that stupid photo. Deokhui couldn’t help but to wonder where she got the photo from and she told her to delete it cus she freaking hates that photo!
Eunnam decided to visit Dr. Ihyeon’s father cus she wanted to know more about the polaroid photo on her phone. Dr. Kang’s father was trying to get Eunnam to understand why her mom hated the photo so much. According to Kang Sung, that picture was taken on the same day of that accident unfortunately.
Eunnam went over to Kang Sung to ask him about the relationship between her father Yeo Soonho and Chu Kyungwon but according to Kang Sung Yihyeon’s dad there was nothing between Mr. Yeo Soonho and Ms. Chu Kyungwon even though it might be hard to believe for Eunnam at this very moment in her life.
Kang Sung was telling Eunnam about how they were all friends back in college and they were student activists. Mr. Kang was trying his best to convince her that there was nothing between Eunnam’s father and Chu Kyungwon who is Dongjoo or rather Seong Hyeon’s mother.
Eunnam was telling Mr. Kang about the photo and the older gentleman thought that was kind of strange because he was the only one that had the copy of that particular photo. Mr Kang thought long and hard about it and he realized that he gave one of the copies to Seong Hyeon and put it inside of the pocket of his jacket and he asked Deokhui to take another one for him to keep.
Meanwhile, Ildo went over to Yeom Jang Seon’s place to ask him for a gun. Mr. Heo was willing to leave once he got the gun from Mr. Yeom. Mr. Yeom realized that Mr. Heo wanted to shoot Dongjoo.
Ildo decided to tell Mr. Yeom about who Dongjoo really was with the grim facial expression that he couldn’t hide. It was so obvious that Mr. Ildo was devastated about the fact that Dongjoo was Chu Kyungwon’s son but it makes sense since Dongjoo’s mother used to be someone he used to love during their younger years. Also, Ildo thought that Dongjoo/Seong Hyeon was long gone and wasn’t around anymore but he was alive and well.
Yeom Jang Seon thought that Heo Ildo was spewing nonsense because he thought that Chu Kyungwon’s son died with her and Yeo Soonho a long time ago. Mr. Yeom was curious to where Heo Ildo heard this information from and Ildo told him that he heard it from Seo Dongjoo himself then Ildo went on to say that Dongjoo also knew that Yeo Soonho was his biological father too. Heo Ildo didn’t leave out the fact that Dongjoo threatened him and his family to leave Daesan.
Yeom Jang Seon looked surprised but yet intrigued at the same time. Mr. Yeom asked Mr. Heo if Dongjoo was really claiming to be Yeo Soonho’s son. Yeom was intrigued but yet couldn’t believe it and asked Ildo if he had proof of what he’s saying then he told him about what he saw at the site of the car accident.
Ildo was saying that he stuffed a pack of gas station napkins in his mouth to brace for impact and he asked Mr. Yeom if he still remembers what he told them a while back regarding this and yes of course Mr. Yeom remembers it all.
Yeom seemed to know about all the details that Mr. Heo told him before but unfortunately he had no idea that Dongjoo remembered everything in detail of that night.
Heo Ildo needed a high quality gun to get rid of Seo Dongjoo once and for all but Mr. Yeom said that they would need the elder’s approval for this. Heo Ildo asked for a gun to Mr. Yeom but he was saying that Seo Dongjoo took it away from him so he asked the old man to find a gun that looked exactly like it somewhere.
Ildo suggested that they should make it seem as if Dongjoo couldn’t handle the truth of being Yeo Eunnam’s half brother so he ended up committing suicide then they would be able to get away with the crime of murdering Seo Dongjoo.
Yeom Jang Seon was saying that when things get rough for Heo Ildo he tends to make bold moves. In the past Ildo did the same thing by making it look like he was in an accident to avoid running into problems and end up taking care of the loose ends.
Yeom Jang Seon thought that Heo Ildo was smart for making certain moves in the past. Also, Mr. Heo decided to tell Yeom about the fact that Chairman Cha made up his mind to put his illegitimate son Cha Seonwoo in charge of Daesan Group.
Heo Ildo was telling Yeom Jang Seon another reason why he wanted Seo Dongjoo to be gone for good and it was because of his son Taeyun’s future. Mr. Heo always wanted to pass on the company’s everything to Taeyun but unfortunately with Dongjoo around that’s not possible because he’s willing to help Chairman Cha bring Cha Seonwoo to become the one in charge of the company once he finishes getting educated about the Daesan company.
Yeom Jang Seon was okay with Heo Ildo’s idea of removing Seo Dongjoo but then he thought they should wait until Cha Seonwoo’s mom marries Chairman Cha.
Dongjoo and Mr. Bae were going out to locate the dandelion files at one of the buildings that Yeom Jang Seon owns on the basement level seven just like what Jo Yangchoon told Mr. Bae a little while ago. It took them a while to locate it but they managed to succeed in obtaining this thing that they were looking for.
Finally, Chairman Cha was getting married to Ji Soo Young although he had no clue who he was getting married to.
Dongjoo was listening to the recording that he obtained but it contained something really shocking that Dongjoo didn’t know what to do. When Dongjoo listened to the recording he thought this was all a joke cus it turns out that Yeo Soonho wasn’t his dad and it was Heo Ildo who was his biological father which makes his name Heo Seong Hyeon not Yeo Seong Hyeon nor Chu Seong Hyeon.
Heo Ildo thinks that Yeo Soonho is Dongjoo’s biological dad but he finds this out through Dongjoo himself when he goes out to meet with him to remove him from this planet once and for all.
The next episode will be interesting because we will get to see Ildo reacting to the real truth about his relationship with Dongjoo.
For a while we all thought that Dongjoo’s real sibling was Sister Agnes which wasn’t the case at all then later one we thought that Dongjoo might be related to Eunnam which would be really gross if that were to be the case cus they had sexual relations on Episode 1. But with this new revelation of Dongjoo’s real sibling as Taeyun is such a shokc even though they would just be half brothers. The thing is Taeyun treated Dongjoo like his real big brother so this makes a whole lot of sense although Dongjoo and sister Agenes seemed like real siblings but not as much as Dongjoo and Taeyun.
I wonder what Taeyun and Deokhui’s reaction would be about Ildo being Dongjoo’s biological dad. How about the rest of the family? I bet this revelation would be a shock to everyone.
