Dr. Slump Episode 13( *Spoiler Alert, please don’t read it if you haven’t watched it yet….*)

·

Episode 13 was darker than the previous episodes but at the same time there were a lot of cute and touching moments as well. I had a feeling we were gonna get to know Kyungmin better and I was right, I had a feeling that there was a drama going on between Kyungmin and Jungwoo’s family, particularly Jungwoo’s mother.

The episode started with the time when Jungwoo was a senior in high school and Kyungmin was there to tutor him. Kyungmin was a smart guy but he obviously had this inferiority complex towards Jungwoo to some degree because he was not from a well off family.

Jungwoo’s mom is not such a nice lady, and this made me wonder if Jungwoo’s dad is like this too but the thing is he hasn’t made an appearance on Dr. Slump yet and I’m curious if he’ll ever show up. Jungwoo’s mom was a very sophisticated lady and she seemed very cold. This woman treated Kyungmin with her typical cold attitude but it’s not a surprise since she even treats her own son that way.

Jungwoo’s mom only hired tutors for Jungwoo who graduated from Korea Medical university so she wasn’t sure if she was making the right decision to hire Kyungmin to tutor her son. However, some gentleman named Professor Jang recommended Kyungmin to tutor Jungwoo. Kyungmin has a good reputation and he had been able to get most of his students he tutored into Korea Medical University without any exception and this made Mrs. Yeo hire Kyungmin to tutor her boy.

Jungwoo’s mom was almost threatening Kyungmin and she let him know what kind of credentials they have and because of this Jungwoo has to get into Korea Medical University at the very least, bare minimum. Kyungmin definitely looked like a nerdy university student when he came to tutor Jungwoo for the first time.

The way Jungwoo’s mom directed Kyungmin to Jungwoo’s room was pretty rude. Most mothers would take the tutors all the way to the bedroom and even bring a plate of assorted fruits but she didn’t do that although she put a lot of cash in the envelope which Kyungmin didn’t mind since his family was struggling. Jungwoo’s mom gave him much more than he expected but she was telling him that she put a lot in there so he will go above and beyond for Jungwoo.

Kyungmin led himself to Jungwoo’s bedroom and he was observing the boy’s bedroom while he was away. Kyungmin couldn’t help but to feel bad for Jungwoo for some reason. I don’t know why but I feel like Kyungmin isn’t the final villain of Dr. Slump. I don’t know, I could be totally wrong but I feel the real villain might be Jungwoo’s mother, I can’t say anything about the father because he hasn’t made a single appearance on Dr. Slump just yet. The only thing that we know is the fact that Mr. Yeo is the director of the Heart Association in the US and he happens to be the first Asian to be in that position.

Also, I feel like the other real villain might be the Haesung Pharmaceutical company and the people in Macau but I feel like we won’t find this out until episodes 14-16…….

Kyungmin was observing Jungwoo’s bedroom while thinking to himself when Jungwoo arrived, he came late cus he was doing some cleaning at the school. Jungwoo was a very well mannered boy and he called Kyungmin, teacher although that changed later on as he got to know him better.

The way Jungwoo introduced himself to Kyungmin was so adorable. He was like, My name is Yeo Jungwoo who is the number one student of Youngwon High school and I have nothing but circles on my tests. I thought that his gestures, smiles, tone of voice and mannerism was so polite and cute at the same time. I am so in love with Yeo Jungwoo! ARGH!

Jungwoo was working on his calculus problems and he was having a hard time solving them so he asked his new tutor to turn him into a calculus solving god. Jungwoo said fighting/cheering him on with his arms raised up high but Kyungmin seemed like he didn’t know how to react to this so he said, oh okay…..Jungwoo had a lot of enthusiasm towards Kyungmin and his tutor didn’t seem to know how to react to that kind of mannerism. However, when Jungwoo said Aja Aja, in a super enthusiastic way Kyungmin had no choice but to go along with his cheeriness.

When Jungwoo was solving his calculus problem it looked like Kyungmin always had easier ways to solve the problems. Kyungmin came up with more simpler ways to solve the calculus problems.

Kyungmin even gave Jungwoo massages after a long study session/tutoring session. Kyungmin did treat Jungwoo like a brother more than his student but that makes sense since they didn’t have a huge age difference. I wonder what was really going through Kyungmin’s mind even when he was treating Jungwoo like a younger brother than a student that he is tutoring. Kyungmin’s massage untied the knot on his shoulders and even made him feel wide awake, wide awake enough to continue with his tutoring session.

Jungwoo’s mom was a terrible woman because she tried making Jungwoo into a working stiff but then he was able to have enough fun on the side despite his mom being really strict with him and after he met Haneul, he was able to show her the way of having fun instead of being a working stiff all the time.

After a long study session it was natural enough for Jungwoo to fall asleep. Poor guy, his mother did not give this guy a break. At this point my least favorite character is Jungwoo’s mother, even if we only have seen a little bit of her unlike Kyungmin. Now, this doesn’t mean I like Kyungmin but I feel like at least there is room for redemption with Kyungmin but maybe it’s too soon for me to say this. Perhaps I should wait to comment about all the characters once the show is over next weekend….

Jungwoo fell asleep but he said he didn’t fall asleep, he was just deep in thought for a little bit. Jungwoo was afraid for a moment there because he thought that he actually fell asleep in class but Kyungmin said they were almost done and he could go to sleep after solving one more math problem.

Kyungmin encouraged Jungwoo to continue even if he looked so tired that he was struggling to keep up. Kyungmin starts at 8:00pm to tutor Jungwoo but he came early and Jungwoo was wondering why he arrived so early. Kyungmin said he stopped by the bookstore nearby but it closed so he was on his way back. By this point Jungwoo started calling Kyungmin hyung, which means older brother instead of Ssem which is a friendly way of calling educational professionals teachers in Korean.

Jungwoo wanted Kyungmin to treat him to go get Ramen noodles cus he is so hungry. Around this time Kyungmin dressed very casually, but it makes sense because he was just a poor college student trying to get by. Jungwoo was upset because his hyung didn’t treat his dongsaeng out to eat. Oh and Dongseng means younger person in Korean.

Kyungmin didn’t treat him out to eat because he didn’t want to be scolded by Jungwoo’s mother for taking away his studying time. Kyungmin decided to take the younger boy out for a bowl of ramen noodles and he was nice enough to include Kimbap with cheese in it

 (Korean seaweed rice rolls).

Jungwoo was wondering if it’s okay for Kyungmin to treat him out like this since he eats a lot because he is a growing boy after all but obviously the older boy was okay with that.

Jungwoo had a bowl of ramen noodles and a plate of Kimbap and according to him it’s the best when you dip the kimbap in the ramen broth. Jungwoo really was a lovely guy even back in high school and he also grew into a charming man. The more I see Jungwoo in each episode, I can’t help but to just see Hyungsik all over. I must say that Jungwoo is the closest to Hyungsik out of all the characters he played thus far….even more so than Minmin.

Kyungmin didn’t want Jungwoo to call him hyung when they were at his house and Jungwoo knew exactly why too. Jungwoo’s mother didn’t want him to get personal with his tutor so calling him hyung could possibly make them chit chat about nothing other than studying and this could be nothing but distraction to Jungwoo’s studies.

I feel like Haneul could’ve fit perfectly into Jungwoo’s family because Haneul is obsessed with reading and writing research papers and also she just couldn’t put that book down and I think Mrs. Yeo would have loved that.

Jungwoo’s mom didn’t want Jungwoo to be affectionate towards other people and it’s better to treat people like strangers so he won’t be distracted by others’ sensitivities.

Jungwoo was able to fill in for Kyungmin when he mentioned about him not calling Kyungmin hyung and Jungwoo told the older boy that his mother lectured him about not being too personal and friendly with his tutor.

Kyungmin asked Jungwoo if he is doing okay and Jungwoo answered he is doing fine but Kyungmin was like, do you even know what I’m even asking you about and Jungwoo’s like it doesn’t matter what it is, I am still doing fine.

Kyungmin told Jungwoo that he feels bad for him but yet he is proud of him. I think Kyungmin always had some mixed opinions about Jungwoo for some reason. Kyungmin seemed resentful towards his upbringing, his environment, and his parents. Kyungmin can’t even stand the way he thinks at times and it doesn’t help that it reminds him of that more and more when he sees Jungwoo.

My gosh, I could relate to Kyungmin with this one particular line. I mean, I’m not a fan of Kyungmin really but I could totally relate to what he was saying here. I know this is a bit embarrassing for me to say but whenever I see Hyungsik/Park Hyungsik I constantly get reminded of my lowly self. Sometimes I don’t know if I deserve to be a Hyungsik fangirl……. ^_^……….

And the show goes back to what happened towards the last part of episode 12. It was the scene right before the car accident. Haneul was showing an article she printed out with the vice president of Haesung Pharmaceutical.

Kyungmin was telling Haneul that she was mistaken and that she was wrong about what she saw. And Haneul said that they will find out who is right because there is so much evidence through different recordings from the black box and surveillance cameras.

Haneul asked if that medical accident is related to Haesung Pharmaceuticals and she got even more direct and asked him if he was directly involved with that one Medical incident relating to Jungwoo. Then Haneul asked what Jungwoo did wrong to deserve this then suddenly the truck came at them and BAM! Although, they were able to avoid the truck in time and as they were taking a short breather and another one came and crashed them and BAM! Foreal now….

Then as we see Kyungmin laying in the driver’s seat unconscious, we hear his voice in narrative form about what was really going through his head. Kyungmin’s voice narrated that Jungwoo wasn’t at fault for anything, he didn’t do anything wrong at all and this is why he felt even worse and in agony so that’s why he asked himself…Is this a good excuse for me to get away with it?

——————————————————————————————————————————

Mrs. Kong and his brother Taesun were making dumplings for the restaurant late at night. Jungwoo came to visit Haneul’s mom and uncle while they were making dumplings for the restaurant. Jungwoo thought that they might be in there cus the lights were still on inside the restaurant.

Jungwoo came by to see if Haneul has come back home yet but unfortunately she hasn’t returned yet. Jungwoo was telling Haneul’s mom and uncle that he tried calling her but no answer and he is quite worried about her so that’s why he decided to come over to see if they have any news about his dear Haneul.

As Jungwoo was about to help Mrs. Kong While making the dumplings she got a phone call from the hospital. According to the paramedics, Haneul barely had any consciousness left when they rescued her. The main paramedic guy was telling the doctor all the info he had about Haneul and he took her to the emergency room to take a good look at her.

Mrs. Kong was in great shock when she got the news from the hospital and Jungwoo was right next to her listening in. Haneul’s mom just found out that Haneul has no consciousness left at all due to a severe car accident.

Haneul’s mother was shaking when she was hearing the news about her precious daughter from a hospital representative and she just couldn’t talk to them properly so Jungwoo took the phone from her so he could speak on the behalf of Mrs. Kong.

The hospital representative told Jungwoo that Haneul would need to get surgery immediately since she is in a critical condition right now. The person that Jungwoo and Haneul were speaking with was the doctor that is in charge of Haneul’s case. The doctor told Jungwoo and Mrs. Kong that he will proceed with the surgery if he is able to get the consent from her guardian. Haneul’s mom didn’t know what the doctor was talking about so Jungwoo decided to speak on her behalf. Since Jungwoo is a doctor and both of his parents are medical professionals, he knows quite a bit about medical terminologies so this is why he was able to ask the doctor the right questions.

The doctor/surgeon couldn’t really answer Jungwoo’s question because he could only give an accurate answer to his question once he starts to perform surgery on Haneul. The doctor said that for now he seems to be suspicious about a heart rupture. What a coincidence since both Jungwoo’s parents are medical professionals that are experts on heart related disease.

Wolsun, Haneul’s mother asked the doctor if having a heart rupture is a critical situation and the doctor answered her saying that in the worst case scenario, the patient/Haneul could die from it and Jungwoo told Mrs. Kong that she should agree to the surgery. Jungwoo told Wolsun that it would be best for her to go to the hospital and hear what the doctor has to say in person, ASAP.

So, Haneul’s mother told the doctor to start performing surgery on her daughter right away and told him to take good care of Haneul, her precious daughter.

We were able to see the scene where the surgeons were operating on Haneul. I felt like I have become Haneul’s friend and started cheering her on like Jungwoo and her family.

Haneul’s mom and uncle were there at the hospital and the mom was crying of course which I completely understand and the uncle was comforting her while she was crying. It looked like Jungwoo knew the doctor there and it makes sense since his parents are both famous professionals in that field. Jungwoo asked one of the doctors there who knew about Haneul’s situation. He wanted to know what happened to Haneul in more detail.

Thankfully, Jungwoo found out more about Haneul’s situation so he was explaining to her mom and uncle about everything in detail. Haneul hit her heart really hard during the accident so she broke her rib cage and unfortunately her broken rib is stabbing into part of her lungs. So this is why Haneul’s lungs are bleeding so if they don’t stop it as soon as possible it would be very critical and because of that she is getting an emergency surgery right now.

If the damage to her lung isn’t severe, all they have to do is fix her broken rib cage. The uncle was worried if Haneul would be able to live normally after they did that. Jungwoo was telling Uncle Taesun that he doesn’t have to worry so much since they are just doing that to the part of her lung. According to Jungwoo there are many different parts to the lung and besides it will puff back up fairly quick so he doesn’t have to worry about Haneul living like normal. She would be able to exercise and do all those things like a normal person would be able to. And there won’t be any side effects to the point where she would have to take medicine for the rest of her life either.

Jungwoo was being such a sweetheart and comforting the mom and the uncle too. Thankfully, Haneul’s mom and uncle seemed relieved after hearing all the details from Jungwoo that knows what he is talking about.

Bada came to the hospital finally and he was devastated to hear what happened to his beloved sister. Jungwoo was telling Haneul’s family that she will overcome this situation but in order to do this he and her family have to all be strong enough to endure this situation. Jungwoo reassured Haneul’s family that he knows about this hospital because he trained there and this hospital is very good with thoracic surgery. Jungwoo said that they should have faith and just wait for now.

Jungwoo was really acting like a big brother that Bada never had. Jungwoo stood up from where he was sitting and gave the seat to Bada. Both Bada’s mom and uncle were comforting Bada just in case he was shocked about what happened to his sister.

The doctors/surgeons were working on Haneul and Jungwoo and Haneul’s family were waiting for the results of the surgery. Everybody was waiting for the result and we got to see Jungwoo waiting as he was taking a little nap.

It was finally morning time and the main surgeon came out to let Hanuel’s family and Jungwoo know the results and they immediately woke up from their nap to hear what he had to say to them. According to the doctor/surgeon, the operation took a while but there was no heart rupture thankfully. The rib fracture breaks through the membrane and it’s stabbing through the lung and all he had to do was get rid of that part of the lung. Then Jungwoo asked if there were other things that they should worry about like the blood clogging up and such. Fortunately there was no blood clogging up and it drained very well so that they don’t have to worry about any kinds of complications.

The surgeon told them that they wouldn’t have to worry about the aftereffects if she manages to recover from the concussions. So according to Haneul’s main surgeon everything went well and that’s why Jungwoo told Haneul’s mom that she doesn’t have to cry so she doesn’t have to worry about it anymore.

Bada was sad that they couldn’t go see his sister until the evening and Uncle Taesun couldn’t wait that long. This goes to show how much they care about Haneul. It sucks that Jungwoo’s family isn’t caring like this.

Uncle Taesun is sad because Haneul is all alone in that room. Haneul’s mom was worried that her beloved daughter was in there going through rough times while in pain. But Jungwoo told Haneul’s mom not to worry since there wouldn’t be any problems if she manages to recover well.

Jungwoo was telling Haneul’s family members that everybody should go home except for one person since there won’t be any visitation time until later on in the evening. Jungwoo thought it would be good if they took turns but Haneul’s mom wanted to be the one to stay and it’s completely understandable since she is her mother after all.

Bada doesn’t want to go either because he thinks that he would be the one that his sister will be looking for as soon as she wakes up. Then Uncle Taesun said that Haneul will be looking for him instead of her mother and brother. It was so funny how Jungwoo was becoming antsy and he was looking so obvious to make Haneul’s family members all go home so he could be the one looking after Haneul … .Awww….so sweet!

However, Jungwoo was sweet enough to let the mom and uncle stay at the hospital while he goes back to the house with Bada to bring some stuff for Haneul since she’ll be moving to the regular hospital room soon enough. Bada was surprised that Jungwoo was gonna come along with him but he had no other choice since he has surgery to perform himself at Dae’s clinic at 9am anyways.

Haneul’s family let Jungwoo go and the mom told him not to worry and if something comes up she’ll give him a call. Jungwoo asked Haneul’s mom to take good care of her while he is away and the mom tapped him on the shoulder telling him not to worry. I feel so moved with the relationship that Jungwoo has with Haneul’s family. These people care about his well being unlike his own family.

Jungwoo and Bada went to go pack Haneul’s bag so they could take the stuff she would need once she moves to the regular hospital room. I liked how Jungwoo picked up that cute little squirrel stuffed toy he bought for her when he was drunk that night with Haneul’s uncle and brother. I thought it was cute how he was petting the squirrel before he put it in the bag. As Jungwoo was putting the stuffed squirrel in the bag, Bada brought some towels for Haneul too.

Jungwoo was still packing Haneul’s bag and while he was still lovingly packing her bag, Bada decided to open up. I really like Jungwoo and Bada’s interactions too, I feel like Jungwoo could be a good mentor to someone like Bada who needs a little guidance in his life.

Bada was telling Jungwoo that he was the worst brother that a sister could ever have.  Bada felt that Haneul had to pull a lot of weight because of a troublemaker like him. Haneul had to practically pull the weight of two people because he was inadequate as a son and brother too. Bada felt like all he did was ask for allowance and did nothing to contribute to the Nam family.

Then Bada started telling Jungwoo about a story when he was just five years old and it seemed like even then he was a bit of a trouble maker. The first word that he learned when he was in kindergarten was “Goguma” which means sweet potato. He wrote that word on one of Haneul’s homework assignments. The question for one of her homework assignments was: Who invented the Korean alphabet? Of course the answer to that is King Sejong the Great but then the little Bada wrote “Goguma ” Sweet potato instead.

The little Haneul cried because she got in trouble for writing such an answer to such a wonderful question. Little Haneul cried because she told her father that she wasn’t the one who wrote that but her father scolded her saying that it couldn’t be Bada who wrote that because he doesn’t even know how to write yet. Back then Bada was too scared to tell anybody about it though.

Bada started thinking about all the bad things he did to his sister and one of the things he remembered doing was the sweet potato incident. It’s so awesome how Bada actually has a character arc and he’s sharing this with his potential brother in law about it….

Bada was scared that he was gonna lose his sister and she will go far away when he didn’t even have a chance to tell her any of these things yet and then Jungwoo scolded Bada in a sarcastic manner that his sister isn’t going anywhere so he doesn’t have to worry about that.

Bada confessed to Jungwoo that he will live by working really hard once  his sister wakes up and is healthy again. Bada said that he may not have a religion in particular but he prayed to God that he will save her from this state. Bada promised to God that in return he will work hard, give to charity and be a good person. Bada is such a good kid, he was just a little lost and aimless that’s all. I am so glad that he thinks of Jungwoo like a big brother and he deserves to be treated as such because he’s a good man.

Jungwoo agreed with Bada and encouraged him that everything will be alright with his sister so he won’t have to worry about that. Jungwoo then gave Bada a 50,000 won from his wallet so he could use that to take a taxi back to the hospital. Jungwoo was surprised that Bada refused to take the 50,000 won and that’s like his favorite since at the beginning of the series he would ask Haneul to let him borrow that specific amount hehehe…

Jungwoo just put the 50,000 won in Bada’s hand and told him to just keep it so he could use it to go back to the hospital and also get something good to eat too while he’s at it. And also Jungwoo didn’t forget about Haneul’s mom and uncle too. Jungwoo told Bada to get some instant porridge on the way for his mom and uncle and he shouldn’t make them skip their meals. Jungwoo is such a caring guy even if he didn’t learn how to be caring from his parents. I think Jungwoo learned it from watching Haneul’s family treat her, perhaps…..

Bada agreed and nodded, then Jungwoo told him to contact him once Haneul wakes up. I loved how Jungwoo tapped Bada on the shoulder as if he really is like a little brother to him.

Jungwoo was on his way to work and he was sadly looking out the window. He was performing a surgery on someone and he had his puppy hat on, the one that Haneul gave to him as a gift. He looks so cute with that puppy hat on while he is performing surgery on someone. I could kinda see why Haneul gave him a puppy hat, it’s cus he looks like a puppy or more like our dear Shikkie looks like a puppy!

Haneul was in the hospital room still deep asleep and her family was all there. The mom was letting her know that she was there to see her. Mrs. Kong was telling the sleeping Haneul that Uncle Taesun and Bada are there too while calling her name dearly.

Haneul’s mom called out her daughter’s name so dearly and she started to cry because there’s no response obviously. Uncle Taesun was holding his sister and comforted her. Mrs. Kong told Haneul that once she gets enough sleep she should wake up soon then Jungwoo came in.

Haneul’s family was happy to see Jungwoo back of course. Haneul’s mom asked Jungwoo if she’ll be okay and Jungwoo reassured her and let her know that she’ll be fine because according to the doctor the surgery went well. Jungwoo also said that they should have faith in Haneul, knowing that she’ll wake up soon enough.

Mrs. Kong told Haneul that Jungwoo came to see her in that sweet voice and Jungwoo was smiling even though you could only see his eyes since he is covered up by the surgical mask.

Jungwoo was talking to the doctor that helped with Haneul’s surgery and he was talking to him in a frustrated voice. Jungwoo thought it was just a simple concussion and she’s still not waking up yet so I could see why he is so frustrated.

There was no cerebral hemorrhage so it shouldn’t be this way according to Jungwoo. It’s good to have someone like Jungwoo on your side when someone you know is hospitalized and went through a big surgery. Jungwoo’s doctor friend was saying that a simple concussion can turn into something bigger like cerebral hemorrhaging.

They are planning to wait a while then take a CT if something isn’t going according to plan. Jungwoo seemed devastated and even frustrated but his doctor friend told him not to worry so much and wait a while for the results.

Jungwoo and Haneul’s teacher went to go get himself looked at. Jungwoo told his old high school teacher that he doesn’t have to worry so much since the wounds are patching up very well and the scars don’t look so bad.

Jungwoo thanked his teacher for the good work but he said that it was Jungwoo who did all the work so he should be one to thank him. Jungwoo is so humble and well mannered, I love this man!

The teacher told Jungwoo that he wants to treat Jungwoo and Haneul out to eat again but this time he wants to treat them to something better instead of Korean spicy rice cake.

The teacher was concerned because he found out that he is absent from work. He was wondering if she is not well or something. Jungwoo didn’t know how to answer that and the teacher thought it was silly of him to not know about Haneul since they are friends after all. The teacher was saying that it didn’t look like Jungwoo and Haneul were still enemies since they are working at the same place so they should try to get along as much as they possibly can and the teacher showed him what he found from a long time ago.

The teacher picked up a little note that someone dropped on the ground in the school hallway when Jungwoo and Haneul passed out and ended up at the nurse’s office. The little note was written by Haneul and she didn’t have a chance to give the note to Jungwoo unfortunately.

The teacher had a feeling that Haneul wasn’t sure whether she should give that little letter to Jungwoo or not.

Haneul wrote: Let’s not over do it. I will fight on so you do the same. Everything will work out in the end. From Haneul.

Jungwoo couldn’t help but to feel emotional after seeing that note that was written when they were both in high school. Jungwoo realized that they were always there for each other and were able to overcome difficult challenges together even if they were supposed to be rivals on the surface. The two even shared pain together even if it didn’t seem that way on the outside.

They always ran towards the future together even if they were competitive towards each other and one day they both collapsed in class. Jungwoo was amazed that Haneul was reading her notes even while she was in bed. This girl was so obsessed with her studies to the point where she just couldn’t put it down.

Jungwoo needed comfort right now and while he was at work he was reading the little note that Haneul wrote back in the day and thankfully the teacher found it and handed it to him. Jungwoo felt like the words she wrote way back then was telling him to fight on and cheer up. Jungwoo just couldn’t help but to tear up. I realized that Hyungsik’s acting matured and also another thing I realized was the fact that his voice even matured. In Hyungsik’s older dramas he still had a hint of boyishness left but now his looks and his voice are both like a grown man.

Jungwoo got a call and he was running towards Haneul’s hospital room. Haneul was finally awake, she got her actual hospital room now. Jungwoo showed up of course since he is her boyfriend after all. Jungwoo wasn’t sure about what love was but at that very moment he knew exactly what he was feeling was definitely love. What Jungwoo was feeling was beyond friendship, and even beyond lovers but genuine love.

I’m glad that they didn’t go with the typical K-drama cliche,or should I say K-drama trope. When it comes to characters ending up in hospitals in K-dramas, they usually tend to lose their memories or something resembling that but they didn’t do that in this show. Haneul remembered Jungwoo and she even apologized to him. I guess this show is too short to get into that typical K-drama trope where the person that’s hospitalized loses their memories.

The moment Jungwoo sees Haneul, he hugs her and puts her head on his chest and tells her that he loves her. This drama is constantly proving that Park Hyungsik really matured although he was a good actor even during his early acting career.

I love the way Jungwoo hugged Haneul. It was so romantic the way he put his head on Haneul’s head. I thought it was cute the way Jungwoo’s thumb was moving as if it was patting her head or playing with the strands of her hair just with his thumb.

Haneul’s mom came into the room and she was telling her daughter that she is so grateful that she woke up and is alive and well. Haneul’s whole family was there. Her uncle and brother were in the room now and also her dear boyfriend Jungwoo. Haneul obviously has a lot of supportive people in her life.

Mrs. Kong felt bad because they had to remove a part of her lung. However, Haneul tried to reassure her mom that she is able to live a normal life despite the fact that they had to remove a part of her lung. Haneul’s uncle wanted to make sure that she is able to have a drink and even go for a run.

Haneul felt bad that her family members couldn’t get any sleep because of her and she was trying to get them to go home so they could get some rest since they couldn’t while she was deep asleep.

Mrs. Kong didn’t want to go home because she wanted to be the one to nurse her own daughter back to health and Haneul was telling her that one person is enough to be with her. Haneul was saying that too many people would just make her feel uncomfortable anyway. Haneul’s mom told everyone to go home and she’ll stay and look after her daughter. Then Uncle Taesun was saying that he is better off staying since he has the stamina to do it.

Bada decided to intervene and he said he would be better off to look after his dear sister since his mom and Uncle Taesun are a lot older than him. The uncle thought that maybe they should play rock paper and scissors and decide who gets to stay and look after Haneul. And Haneul’s mom thought that it was ridiculous for them to play such a game to decide who gets to stay then they all put out rock.

Haneul’s mom didn’t think that Jungwoo was gonna be playing too and he said he didn’t want to feel silly for not being a part of this so this is why he decided to play. Jungwoo was so awkward while he was trying to defend himself and it’s so obvious that he wanted to be the one to stay because he wanted to spend some quality time with his woman.

Jungwoo put out paper while everybody else put out rock and he was telling Haneul’s family that he won so he should be the one staying, even though he didn’t quite say it that way. And Bada was saying Jungwoo cheated and Jungwoo defended himself saying that he is not that kind of a person.

Jungwoo wanted to use this opportunity to straighten things out by saying that he has a better stamina than Bada even if he is only in his twenties. Jungwoo was saying that he has more stamina since he goes jogging every morning, goes horseback riding, and he even goes scuba diving. However, the uncle was confused as to what scuba diving has to do with nursing Haneul back to health and watching over her. Then Jungwoo decided to come up with something else to prove to them he is the one that should be taking care of Haneul. Haneul’s dear boyfriend was saying that he has a knack for thinking on his feet with wit when in an emergency situation.

Besides, the hospital that Haneul is staying in is the place where he trained to be a doctor, so it’s totally his area or more like his turf. These are the reasons that Jungwoo gave to Haneul’s family saying that he is the best candidate to be taking care of Haneul and nurse her back to health. Jungwoo also said that later on it would be their turn to take care of Haneul so they would need the energy to do so and that’s why they should go home, get some rest, eat something good and then come back.

Jungwoo kicked Haneul’s family out of her hospital room to the point where he was pushing them out of there. Jungwoo was looking cool in front of her girlfriend. Once he kicked them out he came and sat on her bed then and asked her if she was disappointed in him cheating to get to stay with her.

Jungwoo sweetly smiled at Haneul and told her that she should get some rest but Haneul didn’t want to do that because that’s all she has been doing so she wanted to be awake.

Jungwoo thought it would be a good idea for him to take Haneul out to the garden that he used to go to back in the day.

Haneul’s whole family couldn’t believe that they got kicked out like that. Haneul’s uncle thought that Jungwoo’s pitch was so sly and creative that he would have fallen for it if he tried to sell him something that he didn’t want.

Bada thought it was funny how Jungwoo was so mature when Haneul was unconscious but then as soon as she woke up he turned into an immature child. Bada couldn’t believe that Jungwoo cheated like that but at the same time Haneul’s mother was able to understand where he was coming from.

Mrs. Kong knew how much he wanted to see his girlfriend. Haneul’s mom knew that Jungwoo really wasn’t himself when Haneul was still lying unconscious like that. Haneul’s mom knew so well that Jungwoo was the one running around everywhere to find out more about Haneul’s situation so it’s normal for him to have the desire to be by her side.

Haneul’s uncle pretty much agreed with his sister saying that Haneul would be better off staying with Jungwoo since he’s a doctor after all.

Jungwoo was being a goofball again now that he is with the love of his life. He brought a warm cover for Haneul and he apparently brought it from the director’s room. Haneul thought any patient would be able to get a warm blanket like that if they requested it. Jungwoo made it seem like he was able to get the hottest one because it’s Jungwoo we’re talking about here. Jungwoo was saying if it weren’t for him Haneul would be using a lukewarm blanket on her right now.

Jungwoo also brought a wheelchair that he hasn’t seen before and he was thinking that they brought in a new model recently. Haneul was thankful that he’s been there for her family while she was out but Jungwoo felt like he should be the one who should be grateful since Haneul’s the one who went through all that to go through a difficult surgery.

Then all of a sudden the conversation started becoming serious again. Jungwoo was talking about how the detective who is investigating this incident visited and then he started talking about the person that was in the same car as Hanuel. Of course they both knew who he was talking about. Jungwoo was telling Haneul that the passenger who was in the car with him is recovering now.

Jungwoo didn’t know what love was up until this point and he was saying that maybe love is like a praying heart. Jungwoo prayed that Haneul was happy and things will go well for her. Jungwoo prayed for Haneul the night before and it was about God allowing her to wake up from her deep sleep. Jungwoo prayed to God earnestly that he will allow her to wake up soon. Then Jungwoo expressed his love for Haneul. He said, “I love you sincerely with all my heart.” Man, Jungwoo is the sweetest Shikkie character ever. This guy is husband material for sure.

Jungwoo was staring into Haneul’s eyes and it looked like he was about to kiss her but they had a visitor or more like visitors. Hongran and Daeyoung came for a visit.

Jungwoo was wondering why Daeyoung came to visit and he was asking why they are gathering all the time when they are not even the Power Rangers! OMG! Jungwoo is such a nerd bringing up the power rangers! GO GO POWER RANGERS! MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS! I dunno why but I kept on singing the power rangers theme song as soon as Jungwoo mentioned the awesome Power Rangers!

Daeyoung felt like it’s his duty to come and visit since Haneul is working as his employee even if it’s just temporary. Jungwoo thought Daeyoung was being absurd since he wanted some alone time with Haneul.

Haneul felt bad that she had to take some time off from work cus of her sudden situation but Daeyoung didn’t mind that at all. Yoon Park’s character in this show is so generous unlike Cha Kangje from What Happens to my family.

Daeyoung told Haneul that he was worried the moment he heard the news and he wanted to cry. And he added that it’s obviously not as much as Jungwoo that sincerely loves her.

Jungwoo couldn’t believe Daeyoung heard his confession to Haneul. Daeyoung continued on with what Jungwoo said to Haneul about how he  wished her all the happiness in the world and he prayed that everything will go well for her. He also heard Jungwoo saying that he earnestly prayed to God that he will wake her up soon.

Jungwoo wanted him to stop already, it’s so funny how he wants Haneul all to himself. Then Daeyoung teased Jungwoo again by saying what he said to Haneul earlier about love being kinda like praying for someone.

Daeyoung was amazed that Jungwoo was becoming a poet, he was wondering if he is learning how to write poetry or something. Jungwoo wanted to see his hyung for a minute. Jungwoo thought that Daeyoung should leave already even if he has only been there for less than a minute according to him. However, Jungwoo begs to differ because he thinks that Daeyoung overstayed his welcome.

Hongran thought that the boys were at it again and after they left on their own, Hongran comforted Haneul making sure she was alright. Haneul and Hongran were still talking and the boys said that they must have a lot to talk about since they are not done yet. Daeyoung wanted to be considerate and was going to tell Hongran to take her time but Jungwoo wanted him to take her already. Jungwoo is so cute that he wants to spend every chance he possibly can with his dear Haneul. Daeyoung was able to see through Jungwoo right away, he knew that the younger boy was trying his best to chase them away so he would be able to spend his quality time with his woman.

But Jungwoo was making it seem as if Haneul needs time to rest but we all know that he just wants to spend time alone with Haneul. The audience knows that and also Haneul’s family and his friends know that as well.

Daeyoung was wondering if Haneul got into this accident while she was driving by herself. It seemed like Jungwoo knew the answer but he acted as if he didn’t know all the details except she got into an accident while on her way to meet someone. Daeyoung was wondering why he doesn’t know all the info regarding her accident but Jungwoo told him that right now the main priority should be Haneul’s full recovery.

Jungwoo was watching over Haneul at night like a good boyfriend should. As he was watching over her, he was deep in thought about something. Jungwoo had a lot to ask and he couldn’t help but to have those questions when he saw the names on the giant flat screen monitor. Jungwoo wanted to know why she was with him in the first place and he was hurt to know that she had to go through such a brutal accident like that.

Haneul’s mom and Bada were heading over to Haneul. Mrs. Kong was breathing kinda hard and Bada was wondering if she was sighing like that and she felt like so much has happened in one year alone. Then Bada said despite a lot of bad things happening some good came along the way too and that was Jungwoo coming into his sister’s life.

Bada was saying that this was a good opportunity for him to see what kind of person Jungwoo was and he was quite moved that he took good care of Haneul and them so he felt confident in him.

Bada told his mom that Jungwoo was so cool for being so good to his sister and them because it would be normal for Jungwoo to be mad at her instead of being good to her. Haneul’s mother had no idea what he was talking about though. Bada was telling his mother that before his sister got into the accident she was with another man so it would be normal for Jungwoo to get mad at his sister Haneul.

Mrs. Kong said that guy is just a seonbae and nothing more but Bada was saying that most guys don’t like that when their girlfriends even hang with their sunbaes. And to make matters worse, it happened at night then got into an accident because of it so it would be normal for Jungwoo to be mad at Haneul.

Then Bada was like, I wonder if Jungwoo wanted to be left alone with his sister so he could get her back for what he did and the mom was like no why would he do that to someone that’s hurt and bedridden. Bada was like, I better get going so I could protect my sister. But Bada discovered something that gave him goosebumps, he saw Jungwoo feeding his dear sister.

I thought it was cute the way Jungwoo was feeding Haneul. I wish Jungwoo could do that for me as well…hehehehe…

Haneul was trying to set her spoon and chopsticks but Jungwoo told her not to do that because he doesn’t want her to do any hard labor for now. Jungwoo said he’ll do all the hard stuff from now on. Jungwoo is such a husband material and also a father material too.

Haneul was playing along and pretending that it was too much work but you could tell that she had no problem using her utensils to eat. I loved the part where Haneul pinched Jungwoo’s cheeks and said he looks like a little puppy. It’s funny cus of one Hyungsik’s nicknames are Ddengdengi and Mungmoongi which means puppy in Korean. Hyungsik kinda does look like a cute puppy when he is smiling. Then Jungwoo gave it back to her and told her that she looks like a cute little squirrel.

Oh my goodness! Haneul was acting all cutesy in front of Jungwoo with all the aegyo charms that she was able to bring out. Haneul changed so much ever since she met Jungwoo as an adult because for a long time she was a working stiff/workaholic.

Haneul doing her aegyo thing seemed a little unnatural but Jungwoo doing that just seemed so real to me since Jungwoo is basically Hyungsik here since it’s closer to Park Hyungsik’s real personality.

I thought it was so cute when Jungwoo did the hand motion saying, you are so cute I want to bite you kind of gesture made me want to go through my computer and pinch him in the face myself hehehe…

Jungwoo made hand gestures that looked as if he was gonna pinch Haneul and then something embarrassing happened. At that moment, Haneul’s mom and brother walked in.

Jungwoo is so well mannered when it comes to Haneul’s mother. He greeted her with a lot of respect and she asked if nothing happened throughout the night. Jungwoo was telling Haneul’s mom about what the doctor told them and according to the doctor Haneul would have to get another x-ray before she could leave.

Mrs. Kong told Haneul that he should go to work and leave this troublemaker squirrel to them. As Jungwoo was heading out of Haneul’s hospital room, Mrs. Kong remembered that she forgot to give Jungwoo the lunch she packed for him.

Bada apologized to Haneul for being a bad little brother over the years. Haneul seemed puzzled by Bada’s sudden apology for his past. Bada apologized for stealing from Haneul and also being lazy and not getting a job. Then Bada brought up the sweet potato incident and Haneul had no idea what this sweet potato incident was about.

Haneul’s mother brought the lunch she packed for Jungwoo and of course he was very appreciative for it. This kind of affection he is getting from Haneul’s family is so touching since he’s never experienced this with his own family. Jungwoo felt bad that Haneul’s mom went through all that and packed him a lunch but she thought he deserved it because he’s been going through a rough time lately.

Haneul’s mom told Jungwoo not to worry about the guy that Haneul was with on the day of the accident since he is just her sunbae. Haneul’s mom had no idea that Jungwoo already knew that and she also didn’t know that they knew each other too. Jungwoo confessed that he knows Haneul’s sunbae and he is like a big brother to him. Mrs. Kong seemed surprised while relieved at the same time.

Mrs. Kong then asked how that sunbae is doing and Jungwoo told her everything that he knew but the only thing he really knew was that he got his surgery and is in the emergency room but obviously he hasn’t been updated with things that happened afterwards.

The ladies in the emergency room were talking about the fact that Kyungmin is experiencing a critical condition due to multiorgan failure and the DIC was progressing too on top of that Kyungmin was having a hard time waking up unlike Haneul. The ladies in the emergency room were talking about how there might be no chance for Kyungmin to stay alive.

Daeyoung wanted to go eat something with broth with his female co-workers. Daeyoung thought  that Kalguksoo would be the best on a gloomy day like this. However, nurse Do wanted to have pasta. Daeyoung and nurse Do were going back and forth about whether they should have Korean knife noodles with broth or pasta as if they were playing ping pong or something.

Then Jungwoo came in and Daeyoung asked him if he would rather have Kalgooksoo or Pasta but he didn’t want either or since his future mother in law packed him a nice homemade lunch. Besides Jungwoo had somewhere to go anyway but nurse Do thought that he is going somewhere with Dr. Nam. Nurse. Do wanted to follow along like a nosy person. Daeyoung backed him up and said now is not a good time to do that since Haneul is still recovering.

All the female workers at Daeyoung’s clinic told Jungwoo to send her their condolences. Director Woo was saying that she’ll help him postpone all of his appointments if need be and also added he should nurse his girlfriend back to health again.

Jungwoo thanked them for being so considerate when he realized that these people seemed to know about the fact that he is dating Haneul and it was supposed to be a secret for a while.

However, Jungwoo was surprised that they all knew about him dating Haneul. He seemed surprised they knew about it since nobody else had this top secret info except for the core people.

Jungwoo thought it was Daeyoung that told them about it but he was denying it. Daeyoung told the girls to tell Jungwoo that it wasn’t him but they didn’t need to because according to them it was Jungwoo that practically gave it away.

Director Woo was saying she kinda had a feeling because Jungwoo and Haneul were visiting the emergency staircase periodically. Also, Nurse Do witnessed Haneul dragging Jungwoo to the corner to scold him because of the King Egg Omelet incident.

Daeyoung was like what the heck because Jungwoo told him to keep his relationship a secret but he was pretty much acting like a couple not so secretly. Then Daeyoung was messing with Jungwoo saying that he should pay all the utility bills and he was so miffed about this because he has been asking him to do this a lot lately but according to Daeyoung it’s just the latest fad these days.

One of the other employees was like, so does he mean he wants us to pay more in taxes? And they were still discussing what to eat for lunch. Someone was still asking if they should go have pizza. So now they narrowed it down to pasta and pizza.

As Daeyoung’s female employees were talking about what to eat for lunch, Jungwoo had a visitor and it was Kang Jinseok, the guy that installed the candid cameras before. Jungwoo was caught off guard a little because he didn’t expect Kang Jinseok to come and visit him at his work. But Jungwoo was still grateful that Kang came and visited him because he tried getting a hold of him but it was really hard to get a hold of him. Jungwoo felt bad for not even being able to thank him because he helped him to some degree.

Kang Jinseok said that it was weird for Jungwoo to thank him since he installed so many cameras at his old clinic. However, Jungwoo felt that there was a reason for him to do that though.

Kang Jinseok told Jungwoo that he installed 7 cameras instead of 6. Kang Jinseok told Jungwoo that he has that 7th camera and if he is curious about what was recorded on there. Jungwoo was surprised and even frustrated that he is telling him this now and he was wondering why he didn’t tell him this before.

Jungwoo thought that Kang should go talk to the cops about it instead of him. Then Jungwoo asked Kang where that seventh camera was while being angry about it. Kang thinks that this is the kind of reaction that seemed typical in a situation like this but he got a different reaction when he told Min Kyungmin about it. Jungwoo thought it sounded odd so he asked a rhetorical question and said, so are you saying what you just told me is a lie? Kang said what he just told Jungwoo was a lie, and it was more of a test question.

Kang asked this question because he wanted to find something out so that’s why he asked Min Kyungmin the same question he asked Jungwoo just now but he reacted a bit differently than our main male protagonist. Kyungmin basically told Kang that he doesn’t care what’s recorded onto that candid camera. This made Kang think that this was an indicator that there’s another perpetrator in this whole case.

Kang was thinking that Min Kyungmin does know about the medical incident that happened not too long ago. Jungwoo just got a phone call from the cops and they were showing him the footage that Haneul and Bada were looking at the other day.

Bada was the one who witnessed the person tailgating Jungwoo the day he moved into the rooftop apartment. The man was wearing a black jacket and a black pair of pants. According to the cops everything matches and he was saying that the culprit had to plan everything ahead of time. The cops rewatched the video footage but there were only the employees and patients apart from Min Kyungmin.

The cop who is in charge of the case told Jungwoo that he wrote Min Kyungmin off because he looked so close to Jungwoo so it was difficult for him to think that he was the suspect or at least one of the suspects of this case. And the cop added that perhaps they were able to use Jungwoo and Kyungmin being close to their benefit of the cause.

But the cop decided to rewatch the video footage again and he was able to discover something. And there was an area where they did something pretty daring thinking that there was no CCTV installed and the surveillance camera that Kang installed recorded all those things fortunately. The cop felt bad that he couldn’t do this earlier and he also mentioned that this is all thanks to Nam Haneul and she played a big role for them to find out about it.

Jungwoo was surprised once again that Haneul was a part of this, a part of helping the investigation team for this case to find a solution. The cop that’s in charge of this case was explaining to Jungwoo that Bada was there at the police station that day and Haneul showed up later on. And Haneul was the one that looked into Kyungmin being the culprit for this particular incident. The cop seemed a little puzzled that Haneul knew about Haesung Pharmaceutical being involved with manipulating their stock value too. Then the cop also said that Haneul found out about other info regarding the Macau organized crime might be involved in this as well.

Haneul was suspicious about Haesung group being involved with this crime to some degree and on top of that saw this video footage of Kyungmin so she couldn’t help but to be suspicious of him. The black box that was damaged was partially recovered thankfully enough. The cop played Jungwoo the recording they were able to retrieve from the black box of Kyungmin’s car.

On the recording Haneul was asking Kyungmin why one of the main representatives was there at Jungwoo’s court trial. Then Haneul asked Kyungmin if Haesung Pharmaceuticals was involved in a medical accident that ruined Jungwoo’s life. Then Haneul really laid it  on thick asking Kyungmin if he is directly involved with Jungwoo’s medical accident. Haneul was asking in a complaining voice what Jungwoo did wrong to deserve this and BAM! The accident happened!

Jungwoo unfortunately heard the recording of the sound when Haneul got into that terrible accident because of the coming truck. Jungwoo looked so emotional and sad that he was full of tears. Jungwoo wasn’t just full of tears, he ended up crying or more like sobbing/weeping after all.

Jungwoo looked aggravated by this point. After we wept a little bit at the police station, he went straight over to Haneul’s hospital room. Then he got straight to the point and asked her if she met up with Min Kyung Min in an angry voice while Haneul was confused as to why he sounded so mad. Jungwoo wanted to know if she ended up in that situation cus of him.  Haneul was surprised that he found out about it somehow but Jungwoo couldn’t believe that she went to meet up with him alone at night knowing what he did on top of that.

Jungwoo was clearly upset because she didn’t talk to him about it and ended up getting into a horrible accident. Jungwoo asked her this in the most angriest voice ever. We hardly see Jungwoo raising his voice at Haneul but this was one of the few times that he did but it was because he cares about her a lot.

Jungwoo expressed his agonizing feelings while sending her off to get the surgery done and he felt that way because he thought he wouldn’t be able to see her ever again. Jungwoo told Haneul that he was more scared than most people because he knows about this kind of surgery a little too well, it was so familiar to him that he couldn’t help but to have some fear about it. The surgery that Haneul got was predictable for the most part because he grew up with parents that are medical professionals that work in that department so it was a little too familiar to him.

Jungwoo was able to picture her on the cold operating bed and it really hurt him to think about that. Jungwoo was miserable and thought he was gonna go crazy while thinking about that scene. But it makes him feel worse, thanking her for doing all this, putting herself at risk just for him and this made him upset even more.

Jungwoo was hyperventilating while yelling at Haneul because what she did upset him so much. Jungwoo looked like he was hurting real bad and his eyes were full of tears again. I guess he was afraid of losing her when she was laying on that operating table so I could kinda see where he’s coming from, he felt like she didn’t have to risk her own life to find out the details of his personal case.

After Jungwoo stormed out of the room, Haneul was crying too and it made it look even worse because her face was all battered up to the injury from the accident.

Jungwoo ran into a huge big screen TV while on his way out and he saw the news talking about Kyungmin still being unconscious. Jungwoo looked so out of it while Haneul was looking out the window and just staring at the rain pouring down. While Haneul was just looking out the window staring at the pouring rain some guy came and delivered a basket of flowers and it was from Jungwoo, her man.

Jungwoo wrote: Nam Haneul, please cheer up, I will too. We will be fine in the end.

Jungwoo was sitting on the bench in the rain and Haneul decided to come out to look for him in the rain but she had an umbrella protecting her from the rain at least. Haneul managed to find Jungwoo sitting out on one of the benches outside.

Haneul came to apologize to Jungwoo and she was telling him that she couldn’t really be rational about it at the time. And she met up with him because she wanted some confirmation from him to make her feel convinced that she’s not being delusional about Min Kyungmin.

But it was an unfortunate situation because Haneul meant well but she had no idea that it would turn out like this. Haneul was telling Jungwoo that even if they go back in time she wouldn’t have been able to easily open up to him about things like this. The reason why she won’t be able to easily open up to Jungwoo about this is because he finally found his daily life back and she doesn’t want to ruin his joy at being able to live like a normal person again. Haneul would feel guilty to do that because she doesn’t want to bring pain in his life like that. So that’s why she wouldn’t be able to open up to him and say that with her own mouth.

Haneul told Jungwoo that she really wanted to die the day that she passed out in class and ended up in the school nurse’s office. At the time Haneul thought she was better off dead anyway. However, this time she only had one thing in mind which was Jungwoo, her beloved boyfriend. Even at the moment when she thought it may be her last, she thought only about Jungwoo and she thought that maybe this is love after all.

Hanuel was telling Jungwoo that this is the way she loves. She would postpone everything unlike Jungwoo. Jungwoo was very attentive just listening to everything she had to say. Haneul was crying and telling Jungwoo that she wanted to put off this thing called love and deal with it later because she didn’t want to be hurt.

Then Jungwoo just held the crying Haneul like a sweet boyfriend. I envy Haneul because I wished that was me. I wish Jungwoo/Hyungsik could just hold me like that. I liked the way Jungwoo was patting Haneul on the back, he is so gentle and romantic. I think this guy is even more romantic than Han Seonwoo and Ahn Minhyuk combined. He has the goofiness of Minhyuk while he is able to take things seriously like Seonwoo, best of both worlds!

I loved the way Jungwoo was hugging her and holding her. At first she just put her head on his chest without her arms around him but later on she added a little flavor and put her arms around her man.

Hongran was outside of the clinic, just staring at the rain like her friend Haneul from earlier. Daeyoung was wondering why she was just out there staring at the rain like that. Daeyoung asked if she just got off and he also asked if she didn’t have an umbrella.

Hongran did have an umbrella with her but she was watching the rain for fun. While Hongran was watching the rain she was saying that it would be awesome if she could eat a bowl of knife noodles with a glass of soju. Hongran and Daeyoung really have a lot of similarities and they also seem to have very similar taste buds.

Daeyoung felt like he met someone he could relate to for a change because his employees/co workers wanted pasta and pizza while he wanted a bowl of knife noodles and Hongran was saying the same thing as him from earlier.

Daeyoung wanted to eat knife noodles but he ended up eating pasta because of Nurse. Do. Daeyoung decided to be straight forward and invite Hongran on a knife noodle date and they could also have a glass of soju along with it and Hongran was, like I didn’t say that I was gonna do that, I was just thinking about it.

Then Daeyoung was like, you shouldn’t just think about it, you should put what you thought into action then he led the way.  Daeyoung opened the umbrella for Hongran like a gentleman and he led the way although Hongran told him she knows a good place that serves Korean knife noodles.

Hongran told Daeyoung that she felt bad just sitting there drinking when Haneul was unconscious for a while. She told him that Haneul mentioned about Min Kyungmin and all of a sudden this accident happened so she didn’t know what to think of it.

Hongran was busy talking about her friend again and Daeyoung reminded her that they were supposed to talk about them, not other people, including their friends and children.

Then out of the blue Hongran shared some of her past with Daeyoung. She was telling him that she got a divorce because her husband had an affair. Hongran and her former husband were a campus couple. She ended up relying on him during her difficult intern years.

Things were so difficult for Hongran at the time that she asked her ex husband to help her get a marriage license with him. Then she got her parents permission and her ex husband went and got them a marriage license/certificate. Hongran was giggling while telling Daeyoung that she got her wedding ring while she was still in her scrubs. Hongran told Daeyoung how she got married and he thought it was romantic while showing his goofy smile.

Hongran continued on with the story and told Daeyoung that they were off to a bad start because her husband at the time had this grand desire to expand his hospital and because of that he came home late often then he started sleeping outside of the home a lot and he ended up having an affair with his employee.

Hongran added that she was pregnant with Jinwoo when all that was going on too. Daeyoung started reacting but he couldn’t help it though and then he said Hongran did the right thing to divorce such an unfaithful guy like him.

Daeyoung blurted that out a little too loud and Hongran said he must have swallowed  a set of  microphone to sound so loud like that then Daeyoung apologized and told her that he couldn’t help it cus the situation made him a little upset for some reason.

Hongran decided to share her personal story because she felt like she was cheating for not telling Bin Daeyoung anything about her marriage life since he shared the story of how he got divorced while they were camping. Daeyoung smiled goofily like a little boy while listening to what Hongran was saying. Jungwoo and Daeyoung have a bit in common, they are hopeless romantics that are well mannered.

Hongran was saying that she couldn’t help but to be moody observing everything that’s been going on lately. She expressed that life is challenging and difficult a lot of the time. When one thing gets taken care of another shit storm is waiting for you and there is no time to take a breather. I like how Hongran is able to pour out her heart to Daeyoung just like what Haneul does with Jungwoo.

Daeyoung encouraged Hongran that there is only way but up from here on out so she should cheer up. Daeyoung was being a cute little romantic man in this one scene where he pulls up Hongran’s chopsticks indicating that everything will be looking up from here on out. Daeyoung’s smile is so goofy while doing this romantic gesture towards Hongran. The two main men in this show are so cute!

They didn’t have anymore alcohol left and they were done with their food so it was time for them to leave and Daeyoung quickly got up to pay and Hongran said she’ll get the tab next time and of course Daeyoung agreed to it.

Hongran was looking for her umbrella but some other customer took it by mistake so they had no other choice but to use Daeyoung’s umbrella. Hongran was okay with sharing an umbrella with Daeyoung!

Haneul’s narration started again and she talked about how the evening rain went on throughout the night. That rain signaled a new beginning for people like Daeyoung and Hongran. For Mrs. Kong the rain symbolizes flushing away all the old pain from the past.

Bada wanted to learn how to make wheat noodles from his uncle and the uncle thought he was being silly going to the market on such a rainy day. Uncle Taesun wanted Bada to learn how to make noodles from him in the morning but he refused and he kept on saying he has to learn how to do it tonight!

Bada told his uncle that he promised God that he will work hard if he helps Haneul wake from her deep sleep. Bada begged his uncle to teach him the skills and he asked what he has to do first and uncle told him he has to organize all the ingredients.

Haneul continued on with her narration and said that this rain meant a promise to keep for someone and of course she was talking about Nam Bada, her little brother.

And to Jungwoo and Haneul this rain meant to make all the difficult things in their life stop once and for all. Haneul didn’t know when this rain would stop and she told herself that she shouldn’t carelessly think about how this sadness will last forever.

Haneul found out that Jungwoo got to see the part that they were able to salvage from Kyungmin’s black box and she was saying that the most important thing that was being said was after the part she heard from the recording at the police station.

Haneul said that they were both concionsous at least until the paramedics came to rescue them. What Haneul heard was this, Kyungmin told her that it would be difficult to hide it now.

Kyungmin kept calling Haneul while they still had some consciousness left. They were both bleeding and it looked like they were going to pass out pretty soon.

Meanwhile, we see a flashback of Jungwoo back in high school again when Kyungmin used to tutor him. Jungwoo was surprised that Kyungmin took a shower already but it looked like he needed it because he was about to fall asleep and a nice shower kept him awake.

Jungwoo felt bad that Kyungmin couldn’t sleep on time cus of him. Kyungmin had three more weeks left to stay in that house tutoring Jungwoo. And Jungwoo was saying that he will finally be free from that prison in three weeks.

Jungwoo was asking Kyungmin if he feels suffocated living in that house because he has to tutor him and then Kyungmin was like, a little…

I feel like Jungwoo and Kyungmin were like brothers and Jungwoo’s mom was the one to blame for all this, ruining their brotherhood. The dad, I don’t know what to say about him because he never really showed his face throughout the whole series so far. We have three more episodes to go and I wonder if the father will ever make an appearance…..

Then Kyungmin said that he doesn’t really mind living there because he gets to make a lot of money tutoring a guy like him. And Jungwoo was like really? Then he was like once the SATs are over you should treat me to a bowl of ramen and kimbap. Jungwoo is such a regular guy but then the way he eats is just like the actor Park Hyungsik himself hehehe…

Kyungmin thought that a bowl of ramen and kimbap didn’t fit with such an occasion. He felt that he should buy something better to celebrate after taking something important like the SATs. Kyungmin wanted to buy Jungwoo a pair of nice suit.

Kyungmin wanted to buy him a nice suit to wear for his high school graduation and also his first day at med school.

Then Jungwoo asked the older boy if he is gonna buy him an all black suit and when it comes to a man a pair of black suit is the best! I think Black and White are Shikkie’s favorite colors and he wears those colors a lot in this show.

Jungwoo was encouraged to solve those math problems and Kyungmin promised to buy him an all black suit if he does what he tells him.

Once he heard that Kyungmin was gonna buy him an all black suit he got on to solving these math problems like a machine.

While Jungwoo was solving his math problem, Kyungmin was taking his powdered medicine. And Jungwoo’s mother looked at it and couldn’t help but to be suspicious but it was just a digestive medicine but powdered because he has a hard time swallowing pills.

Kyungmin got a phone call and it was from the local bar calling to pick up his father because he is too drunk to go home by himself. There was nobody else to pick him up except for him so he asked Jungwoo’s mother if he could be excused for two hours but Mrs. Yeo is so mean because she didn’t even allow him to pick his drunk father up. All he wanted was two hours and she wouldn’t budge. Jungwoo’s mother was saying the SATS is gonna be in three weeks so there’s no time to waste.

Kyungmin’s dad has been calling him so he could have a meal with his son but he had no choice but to ignore it. Kyungmin was worried when his father kept on calling him to have a meal with him. Kyungmin couldn’t help but to feel this way because he felt like there was something bigger going on that he’s not telling him.

Jungwoo’s mother is so cold and she kept on giving him the same answer, there’s only three weeks left for Jungwoo’s SATs…Mrs. Yeo talked to him as if he was nothing but a little bug and asked him, don’t you understand? You can’t get a grip? There’s only three weeks left till he has to take his SATs!

It’s ironic because both Jungwoo’s parents work in the heart related industry but they have no heart at all, they seem almost inhumanely mean. Is it that hard to sacrifice two hours for a loved one? At the beginning I disliked Kyungmin the most and now I dislike Jungwoo’s mother the most, that woman is so heartless. We probably could’ve prevented Kyungmin to do all those things and this could’ve probably saved his father’s life and his own life too.

Haneul’s narration started again. Just like what Kyungmin told her before, Jungwoo didn’t do anything wrong, not at all.

After this incident with Jungwoo’s mother the revenge began. According to the bar owner, Kyungmin’s dad wanted to keep on lying down for some reason and he couldn’t understand why. Kyungmin’s father thought he was home and he already took some sleeping pills on top of that. Kyungmin’s father was already pretty dunk and he took eight tablets of sleeping pills.,

Kyungmin’s dad took zolpidem and drove in that drunken state and then a truck came and ran over his car which made his father die immediately.

The detective was wondering why he didn’t come and pick up his father because it was apparent that Kyungmin’s dad constantly tried calling him to pick him up. Kyungmin was resentful and he turned this into vengeance.

Jungwoo was happy that he got a glass of booze but of course he wasn’t thinking about what was inside at the time. Kyungmin obviously cared about Jungwoo but that turned into vengeance to a horrible woman like Jungwoo’s mother. Kyungmin’s revenge was to cause pain towards Jungwoo’s family but this might have been a way to justify his behavior.

Kyungmin might have gone back and forth between love/affection and hatred experiencing misery but what was just an excuse as well according to Haneul’s narration. And it didn’t help that Jungwoo was such a good guy and it made him feel even lower than he already was and this was just an awful way to give compassion to himself.

Kyungmin was determined to push for something he shouldn’t have done, Haneul’s narration continued on. So Haneul thinks that Jungwoo should please not forgive a guy like him ever!

Jungwoo came to see Kyungmin for the last time while he was still lying there in the emergency room. Kyungmin kept on calling for Jungwoo. Jungwoo then got to the point and asked Kyungmin if he was the one who was directly involved in making that medical accident happen in his own clinic.

Kyungmin told Jungwoo that he didn’t know it was his hospital at first then Jungwoo devastatingly said he can’t believe in the word he says anymore. Kyungmin knows where he stands so that’s why he called him over to talk to him so he was saying that there’s no reason for him to lie to him now.

Kyungmin only knew it a day before and he tried to turn it around somehow but unfortunately he came a little too far to turn back from what he did so he couldn’t help but to continue on but Jungwoo couldn’t believe what he was saying.

Jungwoo was wondering what kind of things that Kyungmin has done to a point where he’s not able to turn back, then he asked if was manipulating the numbers for their project and for what?

Jungwoo didn’t come and visit him early on because he didn’t want to see him in his critical state because he knew that he would become weak once he sees the state that he is in. Jungwoo felt like Kyungmin didn’t deserve his kindness anymore.

Kyungmin apologized to Jungwoo and he confessed that he was sincere and he meant it when he helped out Jungwoo when his life collapsed on him but it was already too late to turn things back to how it used to be. Jungwoo felt it was useless now and it’s too late to patch things up again.

Kyungmin told Jungwoo not to waste his time hating him so much and even if something happens just forget about everything and rise back up again. Kyungmin told Jungwoo to live a good life and he walked out of there while teary eyed. Kyungmin really did look like he wasn’t gonna last much longer, I kinda felt sorry for him a little despite what he did. I’m more angry with Jungwoo’s mom though.

Haneul was wondering why Kyungmin wanted to see him all of a sudden and he told her that Kyungmin said sorry to him. Haneul was curious about what he said and Jungwoo told him that he couldn’t really say anything to him.

Jungwoo felt bad because he thought maybe he should have forgiven him since he is not gonna last much longer obviously. Haneul thinks he shouldn’t do that and it’s not necessary even if he was hurt due to Jungwoo’s family. Haneul felt it was horrible and couldn’t be justified even if he was resentful towards his family. Handful felt that it was wrong for him to forgive someone like him because having a reason shouldn’t be justified at all.

Haneul told Jungwoo that he shouldn’t bury his true emotions until he feels truly convinced that it’s time to forgive and move on.

Haneul felt like if Jungwoo forgives him now then who will hold him and embrace him when he thinks about all the times that he cried because of what he experienced before. Jungwoo was crying and saying he can’t do that just yet. It seems like he wants to forgive the guy but obviously it’s not easy to do so. Then Haneul gave him a hug and held him like a baby. Haneul comforted him saying that he doesn’t have to forgive him right now.

Haneul hugged him and said everything will be alright and he was crying on her shoulder. Jungwoo not forgiving Kyungmin was basically acknowledging his own pain. Jungwoo was weeping while looking at the two pairs of suits. I want to assume that Kyungmin bought them for him.

According to the preview for Episode 14 it looked like Haneul and family went to visit her father’s grave. Jungwoo was asking how long it takes for you to become numb after somebody’s death. It looked like Kyungmin was the only person that came to Jungwoo’s graduation and he was telling someone that he can’t help but to think about all the things that he did for him.

From the preview for episode 14 it looked like Kyungmin did pass away after all. And I’m assuming that Jungwoo is having a hard time after Kyunmin passes on but I could completely understand because during his later part of his high school years, he was the only person that was actually there for him.

Mrs. Kong was telling Jungwoo that when you forgive someone, you do not do it for them but for you. It looked like Jungwoo and Haneul are back to normal again career wise and Haneul got offered a teaching position so it seems like she is finding her way back into the world again.

It also looks like Jungwoo and Haneul are gonna be doing a make out session again hehehe…

  1. The creators of this drama leave nothing to chance, I’m sure they have their reasons for delaying his father’s appearance.

  2. Oddly enough, the more I get to know PHS, I’m more certain that he’s gonna set up with a person who will help him have his feet on the ground. I have the feeling he is looking to get acquired with someone who makes him enjoy the simple things in life. But he is not in a hurry to settle down anytime soon.

  3. It’s been a while since I’ve seen SWDBS so I don’t remember every single scenes from there but once DS is over I might try to compare the two by watching important scenes simultaneously…..

But I do see the similarities between Jungwoo and Minmin though…..I also see similarities between Jungwoo and Haneul too……..

  4. I wonder if we’ll ever get to see the father in the next two episodes and like you said earlier I can’t help but to wonder if we are gonna see Mrs. Yeo going against his son getting married to Haneul…..

Jungwoo’s mother has a tendency looking down on people and I have a feeling she would do that to Haneul and her family, calling her lowly commoners….

  5. The way Jungwoo was feeding Haneul and didn’t let her do it by herself reminded me of what happened after Bongsoon temporary lost her strength. Minmin was juicing an apple and offering to move all the heavy stuff and open all the jam lids for her.

  6. It’s ironic that Mrs Yeo is a cardiologist because she seems like a heartless woman. But at this point I feel like his dad is guilty by omission, since by being absent he allowed this mother-son dynamic to develop throughout Jungwoo’s life.
