Hello everyone! Dr. Slump weekend is back! The weekends are full of excitement now cus of this new Park Hyungsik show called Dr. Slump. Recap/Review/My thoughts on Episode 7 will be coming right up.
Episode 7 begins with Jungwoo’s plants. When Jungwoo was a child back in elementary school, the children were planting seeds for kidney beans. However, Jungwoo’s plant didn’t grow unlike the other children’s plants
Jungwoo was thinking back to his childhood days and he was starting to see what kinds of failures he had throughout his life and the so-called kidney beans incident was his very first failure in his life.
Jungwoo put the plants near the sun so it could get sunlight effectively. He even tried to water it diligently but unfortunately his kidney bean plant was unresponsive.
One of the little girl students came and tried to comfort him but Jungwoo made it seem like he is not a fan of planting kidney beans. Jungwoo also made it seem as if his least favorite beans are kidney beans and he wouldn’t eat his rice if his mom puts kidney beans in the rice.
Obviously, Jungwoo was very concerned about his kidney beans but he made it seem as if he didn’t care at all. He even told the little girl that he’s not gonna cry because of his kidney beans but he did as he was walking back home from school.
Jungwoo was lonely and sad and his tears were just as big as the kidney beans apparently.
Then we go forward to his high school days from his elementary school period. Jungwoo looks at his report card with utter annoyance. Jungwoo greeted his mom happily but she obviously didn’t seem to care. Jungwoo’s mom told him that she’s gonna go to Los Angeles for his father’s medical seminar.
I could kind of see why Jungwoo has been lonely for all this time. His mother didn’t really seem like a warm person at all. She seemed very cold and also uninterested in her child’s life.
Jungwoo’s mother didn’t care about him at all but she sure cared about his grades. Jungwoo’s grades dropped and his mom made it seem as if he was a failure.
Jungwoo’s grades dropped because of Haneul and he couldn’t help but to pout and started complaining about her. Jungwoo still kept his little book he made of planting the kidney beans during his elementary school years. Jungwoo realized that life is kind of like kidney beans and he was reminded of this as he got older.
I also want to mention that Jungwoo/Hyungsik looks good in High School uniforms. Park Hyungsik/ our dear Shikkie looks good in not only high school uniforms but just about any uniform in general. Park Hyungsik looks good in any kind of clothes, shoes and hair because he is that hot so that’s why his characters would look awesome no matter what.
And sometimes life happens and it flows a certain way no matter how much effort you put into it. When happiness comes it’s vague but when unhappiness arrives it tends to be precise about it. This is what Jungwoo thought anyway.
Jungwoo is at the lowest point of his life and it mirrored his loneliness so well. He tried enduring the situation because he didn’t want to look shabby so he made it seem as if everything was okay but he really wasn’t at all.
Jungwoo’s father has become one of the candidates for the Heart Association of America. His mother was only worried about his grades when her son was going through hardship and he is at the lowest point of his life right now.
Jungwoo wanted a family that would be there for him and he missed that dearly. And he was desperately in need of someone that would trust him and believe in him. There seemed to be no end of this unhappiness and as the days progressed things didn’t seem that much better and darkness was clouding his whole life.
The quality of this show is amazing. I don’t know what kind of camera technique they used but it looks so pretty.
Jungwoo couldn’t help but to wonder if things will be okay for him and if his good ol average evenings will return to him.
Jungwoo was chasing the masked man and as the masked man was being chased he ran into a black car. Jungwoo was bleeding on one side of his face and he looked shocked to witness what just happened to the masked man being hit by a black car.
While some mysterious music was playing in the background, Haneul was still in Jungwoo’s room and she found the mini hidden camera shaped like a pen and couldn’t help but to wonder what that was. Haneul looked really puzzled about it and I don’t blame her for looking that way.
Then Jungwoo’s little brother showed up in the room and scared her half to death. Bada was asking Haneul if they are close and he couldn’t help but to ask her that because she’s always over at his apartment.
Then Haneul asked why he is here to his little brother Bada and he told her that he came to get the blanket and he saw her so he decided to stop by.
Haneul went for a little walk and she saw the door open so she came by to shut the door for him. Bada was teasing his sister saying that she was about to write Jungwoo a little note because he isn’t at home.
Haneul didn’t figure out that the pen looking thing was a camera but Bada figured it right away when Haneul was trying to hit him with it. Bada confirmed that the pen-like thing is a camera and he pointed at the lens saying that it is indeed a camera.
Haneul thought about Jungwoo telling him earlier about the hidden cameras at his old office. Haneul called Jungwoo right away as she put two and two together. Jungwoo was at the police station again.
Jungwoo wanted the cops to look at the CCTV to analyze what just happened out there but unfortunately according to the police officer at the station, the CCTV doesn’t work right now.
The cop isn’t able to find out the path of that guy who just ran away from the scene unfortunately.
The cop asked Jungwoo if there was a burglary incident on his rooftop apartment. Thankfully there was a video that was given by some motor cyclist and in that video you were somewhat able to see what that suspect looked like.
The masked man who just ran away and that guy from the other video are the same guy from the looks of it. This show has a lot of rom-com moments but it also seems to have some weird mystery thriller element as well.
The pen shaped cameras that the cops were holding onto and another pen shaped camera that the suspect dropped are exactly the same according to the police officer that Jungwoo was speaking with.
As the police officer that Jungwoo was speaking to had to go take care of something Haneul came to the police station and called out his name. Haneul sounded very worried obviously which wasn’t a surprise to me at all.
Haneul was telling Jungwoo that she discovered this other pen shaped camera underneath his desk then saw a whole bunch of the other pen-like cameras laid on the desk at the police station. Haneul looked shocked which didn’t surprise me at all. More like, she looked horrified than anything.
The masked man wasn’t too far away from where he was at and he wasn’t able to run very well. The guy was limping and breathing really hard. The guy finally took his mask off but couldn’t see his face, only his back.
The masked man left the pen-shaped camera underneath Jungwoo’s desk that same night when the so-called burglary happened sometime ago. Jungwoo couldn’t help but to wonder why he left that camera there in his room in the first place. What’s the purpose? Is that camera put into place to take videos of him? Or are there other reasons?
The police are still looking into it and as the main detective guy was talking to Hanuel and Jungwoo, this lower level detective came and told Detective Kim that one of the cameras was a little damaged.
Apparently, water was able to go inside of the camera so they are not able retrieve the data from there.
Haneul seemed very concerned about this whole situation. She couldn’t understand the whole hidden camera thing and stalking too. Haneul was shocked to see Jungwoo’s condition. She took a look at his face and told him that he should’ve gone to the ER.
Haneul was a doctor after all like Jungwoo but he was a different kind of doctor unlike Haneul. She managed to take him to the hospital. There was no concussion according to the doctor who treated him. It was just a minor injury so the doctor used the stapler to place the torn parts together. It seemed like Haneul cared about Jungwoo more than his so-called mom who doesn’t even care about his well being.
After the doctor left Haneul started to cry and she told Jungwoo that she just can’t seem to help herself because she feels sorry for him.
Haneul thought something just went wrong with the surgery and Jungwoo was out of luck. Possibly this could be so much worse than that. Haneul was wondering how Jungwoo has been able to endure such a scary situation like this.
Jungwoo had a bandage on his forehead and was trying his best to stop Haneul from sobbing like crazy in his gentle voice. Jungwoo was about to say that when he sees Haneul crying and that his heart is in pain because of it and Haneul told him that she feels worse when she sees him in pain of any kind. They both have a hard time when the other is in pain obviously, they are totally like soul mates here.
Haneul patted Jungwoo on the back saying that he suffered through so much and continued to sob while putting her head on his chest.
Jungwoo and Haneul were walking back home and Jungwoo teasingly asked her if she’s calmed down from all that emotion but Haneul was trying to awkwardly blame her sobbing on her depression condition.
Haneul was asking Jungwoo if he had any idea who the suspect would was. She was asking him if he is suspicious of anyone out of the people he knows. Jungwoo does have someone that he is suspicious of and that man is the Director of Anesthesiology that participated in the surgery in the operating room that day. The guy was supposed to testify as a witness but he canceled two days before the court trial.
Haneul was thinking that it must have been easy for him to install all the hidden cameras all over Jungwoo’s old hospital if he did work there. But Haneul can’t seem to wonder why that man installed those cameras in the first place. Haneul cheered Jungwoo up by saying things will look up sooner or later since truth always prevails.
Jungwoo then said to Haneul that what she just said was almost like a movie line and she said that she didn’t really have much time to go see a movie. This episode started out a bit melancholic, then it moved onto looking like mystery thrillers and then rom-com moments again. I love the song that they play whenever there’s a romantic moment between Jungwoo and Haneul. I’m planning to buy the song on Itunes. I wonder when Shikkie’s song will come out, I will buy it almost immediately/right away!
Then Haneul beat Jungwoo to it by saying that once things start to work out bit by bit they could go watch a movie together. The highlight of this episode so far as I’m writing this is when Haneul was telling Jungwoo that she wishes to go see a movie and eat a bowl of popcorn while sitting next to someone she likes. Jungwoo looked surprised as Haneul finished her sentence.
Haneul basically confessed to Jungwoo again more or less and she looked cutely awkward afterwards.
Dr Bin was watching the news on his phone during his break drinking his cup of coffee. Obviously, the news was about Yeo Jungwoo’s next court trial that’s coming up very soon.
Hongran runs into Daeyoung again and she thanked him for what he did for her the other day. Hongran was so happy about the fact she was able to catch the dragonfly with Daeyoung’s help and she drove over to Yangpyeong asap so she could give the dragonfly she caught for her little boy.
Dr. Bin couldn’t believe that Hongran went all the way over to Yangpyeong just to give his son the dragonfly he helped her catch. He has no idea that Hongran’s little boy doesn’t live with her all the time and is obsessed with insects. Ever since Hongran’s father passed away some years ago, her mom had been living with her aunts in Yangpyeong. Hongran’s son lives with three of his grandmothers in Yangpyeong.
Hongran was telling Daeyoung about her personal family life and he looked dumbfounded and even surprised by it all. Hongran asked Daeyoung to catch dragonflies or any kinds of insects whenever he sees them and contact her as soon as possible when he does.
Daeyoung couldn’t believe what Hongran just asked of him. In Korea during the summer break, elementary school students go to the countryside and catch insects and capture nature of some kind and this is why Daeyoung asked himself, “Is this a summer break assignment, or what? I’m starting to like the possible Hongran and Daeyoung couple too. It’s really uncommon to like the main couple and the second couple in these dramas but I have a good feeling that I’m gonna like both couples in this show.
Daeyoung’s nurse came and asked him that he’s been acting very close to Hongran lately and he was becoming defensive about it and saying that they were just talking about dragonflies. He said there’s a story behind dragonflies and the nurse asked him if he slept with her. This is a Korean word play and people that don’t know the language would be very confused by this. Jamjari means dragonflies and that word also could mean bedding, bed, or even sleeping together.
Daeyoung was trying to clarify that he was talking about the other jamjari while doing the motions of an insect. Daeyoung was saying that the nurse is possessed by a lewd devil. Hongran was sitting on the bench drinking her coffee while watching the two bicker.
Bada is unemployed and acting like a little child asking his mom to make him some food. Bada was sticking on to his mom saying that he’s gonna be stuck to her like that like sticky rice until she feeds him. The mom told him to cook it himself and she told him to learn how to do it since he doesn’t know how to make rice. Haneul’s mom was looking for the iron and she was asking Bada if he took it and of course he wasn’t the culprit of this. Bada sold something so he would have money to take that girl out on a date but he broke up with her. Bada was saying he would never sell any of the household goods ever since he got his ass whooped by his mother that day.
Haneul was the culprit of the iron disappearing. The iron doesn’t have legs like what Haneul’s mom was saying but it was Haneul’s doing and he took it upstairs to Jungwoo’s rooftop apartment.
Haneul told Jungwoo to take off his shirt and he said pardon in the most well mannered way possible. Haneul said that she’s gonna iron his shirt for him. Haneul is acting more like an actual girlfriend than a friend by this point. Jungwoo looked very shocked by this.
Haneul said that Jungwoo looked kinda shabby the last time he went to his court trial because his shirt looked too wrinkly for that particular occasion. She told him to take it off so she could iron his shirt straight for him.
Jungwoo acted as if Haneul was gonna take his shirt off so she asked him if he could take it off himself. I found this part to be really funny because he was talking formally to her as if she’s the boss or something.
Haneul put her hand out and told him to hand over his shirt and he still was looking awkward then Haneul turned around because she realized that she shouldn’t be looking at him without a shirt on.
Haneul’s mom was looking for something in the fridge and Bada thought that she might be looking for the iron in the fridge like a fool but obviously not. Haneul’s mom made stir fried anchovy, steamed soy sauce beef, and cucumber kimchi but they all disappeared like magic.
Bada thought that maybe his mom might have dementia of some kind and he started doing the extreme fake cry making fun of his mother. Haneul’s mom keeps on suspecting that Bada is the culprit because he has the track record of doing such things. At one point, Haneul’s mom made some marinated pork meat and Bada gave that to the girl he was dating at the time.
But Bada was telling the truth, it really wasn’t him this time. This goes to show that Bada has a bad track record when it comes to these things unlike his big sister. Bada and his mom were playing pillow fight without knowing who the real culprit is of the iron and the food items disappearing like that.
Haneul set the breakfast table with the food items that her mom was looking for while complimenting Jungwoo saying that he looks so much more confident now. Jungwoo was doing his tie but Haneul was helping him fix it because it was looking a little uneven. By this point they not only look like an official boyfriend girlfriend, they even look like husband and wife. Too bad Park Shinhye is married with a child because if she was still single, I would totally support these two that way….. ^^
As Haneul was fixing his tie, they were facing each other to the point where their faces were right at each other. I was feeling flustered again because of this.
Haneul was trying to explain to Jungwoo that he should do it in the most medically proven way possible. She was telling him that he should because it will reduce his insecurities and anxieties while he’s in court.
Haneul was telling Jungwoo that it’s more depressing when you are in the corner while hungry. Haneul told Jungwoo that she will come back up in thirty minutes and once he’s done eating they can go to court together which Jungwoo doesn’t want but Haneul is worried about him because he’s been followed by weird strangers lately.
Jungwoo was trying to explain that he is still in good condition because he is athletic but if this was Haneul she would be looking a lot worse than him to the point where she won’t be able to exist at all. Haneul wouldn’t listen, she still wants to go no matter what and she even came up with the most childlike way to solve this which is to decide with the game of rock paper and scissors.
Haneul and Jungwoo played the simple game of rock paper and scissors but Haneul won with her putting out paper and Jungwoo putting out rock.
Haneul’s mom and Bada, still playing pillow fight, then Haneul walked in at the right time. Haneu’s mom was explaining to her that the food she made and the iron has disappeared and the only person that could do such a thing is Bada then Bada asked his sister if she’s the culprit.
Even though Haneul was the real culprit the mom was defending Haneul. She was saying Haneul would never do such a thing because she was always a model student and she passed the exam to be a doctor which is really hard to do. I bet this made Bada feel bad because he’s been taking the exam to be a civil servant but he kept on failing. Haneul’s mom was also saying that she became a doctor at the third best hospital in Korea and she saved multiple lives working there as well. Haneul’s mom really made Bada look like a loser in front of her daughter.
Haneul was looking awkward just going along with it. Haneul was willing to sacrifice a little harmony in her household for Jungwoo, what a sacrifice she’s making for the guy. Then Bada was saying that when someone is madly in love with someone they could do such a thing like this. It seemed like Bada was onto something, he seems to catch on rather quickly despite his current situation.
Bada knew that Jungwoo has to go to court today so she took the iron to iron his clothes for him and she was gonna send him off with a full belly so she even took all the newly made side dishes up there. Bada said that there could be a possibility of this scenario and it seemed like the mom thought he had a point while Haneul looked nervously awkward.
Haneul was stuttering while saying that it wasn’t her and her mom bought her answer like a fool. Haneul denied that it was her and went into her room and the mom was teasingly saying to Bada that it’s not her sister so it must be him although Bada still seems suspicious about all this.
Haneul was ready to go to court with Jungwoo and she opened her bedroom door and there was his little brother looking all beat up. He got a bloody nose because his mom was beating him and he accidentally fell because he was trying to avoid her hits.
Bada was obsessed in asking his sister about this but she kept on denying it until he said he was gonna go check it out for himself. Haneul was going to give him 50,000 won to keep his mouth shut about this but he wanted her to give him 100,000 and I guess that was too much for her so she said she’ll just go tell her mom the truth about this.
Bada decided to just take the 50,000 won instead and he told her that she should consider herself to be lucky that they are related by flesh and blood. Bada seemed curious about the hidden camera incident and Haneul told him what she knows so far. Haneul was asking Bada if he’s seen anyone strange around the neighborhood. She was asking him because Jungwoo has been followed by weird strangers lately.
Bada thinks that he’s seen someone strange the same day that Jungwoo moved into the rooftop apartment. Bada was talking to his friend on the phone about a girl and as soon as he hung up with him, he was talking about why Jungwoo was talking crap about his sister and uncle. Then he saw some stranger in black walking up to Jungwoo’s new rooftop apartment.
At first Bada thought that guy was Jungwoo but realized that it could most likely be a different person. Bada didn’t say anything until now because he gave the situation the benefit of the doubt at the time. Bada thinks that there’s a possibility that the Macao organized crime family released little minor thugs to harm Jungwoo. Bada thinks that the thugs might want to get rid of Jungwoo by using their own powers without even going through the Korean legal system.
After hearing that from his brother, Haneul looked so distressed by sighing. Her whole body language and facial expressions were telling us that she is very distressed. Haneul called Jungwoo and he’s been waiting for him all this time. Jungwoo still thinks that he shouldn’t accompany him to court. Haneul didn’t want to say this to Jungwoo when he was on his way to court but she felt like she had to for his own sake.
Haneul was telling Jungwoo that she heard from her brother that he saw someone going up to his apartment on the day he moved into their rooftop apartment. After Jungwoo hung up with Haneul he was trying to make a call and as soon as Haneul came down to meet up with him she realized that he disappeared while his phone was on the ground for some reason. The show went from sweet rom-com to suspense/mystery/thriller so suddenly. But I have no problem with this because the editing is really good. They could get away with that.
Everyone was waiting for Jungwoo, he wasn’t even there yet and everybody at the courtroom was wondering where he was. Even Kyungmin was there but his facial expression seemed unreadable to me. What was he thinking? Or rather what is he thinking? People tried calling Jungwoo but he wouldn’t answer. I’m wondering if he got kidnapped by the masked man or someone that works for him.
They started the trial half an hour ago and Jungwoo still hasn’t arrived yet and everybody is wondering what’s going on with him. Haneul came into the courtroom and the people there were surprised. Haneul realized that Jungwoo still isn’t there yet and she has no idea why just like the rest of them.
Finally Jungwoo arrived and he handed some sort of evidence to his lawyer. It looks like he was late because he was trying to get his hands on this thing that will prove that he is innocent of what happened.
Going back to the moment before Haneul came down to meet up with Jungwoo he decided to make a phone call then he saw someone familiar that was inside of a car. Then Jungwoo realized that it was Director Kang Jinseok. But the guy just quickly drove off and Jungwoo was trying to chase the car and in the process he bumped into a woman with her baby in the baby carriage. Jungwoo dropped his phone by bumping into someone while trying to chase down Kang Jinseok that was driving away.
Kang Jinseok was trying to drive away so fast that he drove into some large dumpsters and Jungwoo used this chance to go up to him. Then Kang Jinseok handed over a USB thumb drive to Jungwoo and he went to the police department with Mr. Kang.
There were a couple of guys that went inside of the operating room and they were manipulating the anesthesia but unfortunately one of them, the main culprit looked like Kyungmin to me. However, that’s what I thought when the cops showed up to the courtroom. I was shocked because I thought that could be the possibility. It wasn’t director Kang nor was it Kyungmin … .The guy that was responsible for all this was the Macau Casino owner’s family member. I think Bada was right to some degree because he didn’t discount the possibility of the Macau thugs that were involved in this whole fiasco.
This whole incident started because the lord of Macau’s casino industry passed away not too long ago and he handed over the inheritance to the daughter that passed away because of this incident. James Chang was the owner of Macau’s largest casino industry but he gave all of the inheritance to his daughter, the heiress and the real biological brother of James Chang was pissed because he didn’t get any of the inheritance so he purposely bought out some people to kill the lady. They were able to purchase nurse Park to do the dirty deed so he was able to make this crime to happen.
The guy with the glasses was roaming around Jungwoo’s neighborhood because he wasn’t sure if he should come clean about this or just bury the truth altogether. The reason why he installed so many hidden cameras was because it just became his habit ever since that terrible incident happened to him some time ago.
The professor who was in charge in the surgery room was upset because something was missing in the process and he thought it was his mistake at the time. He was responsible for a medical accident a while back and ever since then he came up with this habit of installing cameras.
He thought that the best way to protect him were these hidden cameras for evidence sake. Thanks to his old habits, it helped Jungwoo in the end. He was too scared to talk about it directly to him and he had no courage to do so he felt like he had no other way but to take drastic measures.
Bada came to Jungwoo’s room to bring him his blanket but unfortunately he didn’t see the camera and it dropped to the floor and spilt water all over it too. It was unfortunate because that camera installed in the room couldn’t really help them since it had water on it so Jungwoo wasn’t able to find justice.
And the guy couldn’t understand why Jungwoo’s situation is still the same when he gave the most important evidence he can have and he was in between trying to bring justice with fear that was over taking him. He was fighting against these two things till the very last moment.
Jungwoo wasn’t able to recover right away. He lost so much when he didn’t have to experience any of this. Jungwoo experienced failure and loss through this incident when he really didn’t have to. Jungwoo didn’t know who to blame at this point and he was grieving the losses while average daily life was back for everyone. People spoke of Jungwoo so easily without understanding his struggles and what he went through.
These people working for the TV broadcasting company want to make a show out of Jungwoo and his experiences while disregarding this man that’s at the grieving stage of his life right now. There’s a sympathetic public opinion because of what happened to Jungwoo and the skin care company wants to use this opportunity to profit off of him.
This news even got to Jungwoo’s two close friends and one of them told the other friend that he knew that Jungwood would never do such a thing. And the other friend thought about giving Jungwoo a call but the other friend thought it might not be such a hot idea since they had a big fight last time. The guy thinks that he should apologize to Jungwoo and make up with him and they both haven’t even found a job yet so befriending him would be a great help for them.
Moogeun, one of Jungwoo’s high school friends texted him and asked him out to have a drink with him and the other friend. Jungwoo’s mom called saying that she knew it wasn’t his fault from the beginning. I don’t know but Jung woo’s mom and even his friends seem kinda fake when you look at their past words and actions against him when this first happened to him. Jungwoo’s mom said that she knew from the start that he wasn’t guilty and that’s all she said to him and hung up on him. His mom seems so heartless and fake.
Kyungmin was watching a news show where they were analyzing something about the director/doctor of anesthesia and why he didn’t tell Jungwoo about this until later. I had a hard time reading Kyungmin, he is the most mysterious character in this whole show so far….
Haneul’s mom was concerned about Jungwoo since he hasn’t come out of his room for like three days already. Haneul was the only person that really understood Jungwoo. She told her mom that maybe he’s been stuck in his room for days because he’s so exhausted from all that he went through up until this point. She feels a little upset that he dumped her daughter but she still feels bad about what happened to him. Haneul had to tell her mom again that she didn’t get dumped.
Haneul’s texting him asking him if he’s okay when she knows that he’s certainly not alright. She was gonna message him by saying have you eaten yet but she knows that he’s definitely not able to eat in his current state. She was gonna say, we haven’t chatted in a while but she thought that wasn’t it either. Obviously Haneul misses him and wants to talk to him so badly but didn’t know how to approach him since he is in a very sensitive state right now.
Haneul had a sort of a Eureka moment. She realized that she planted some cabbages up there and it’s time to water the plants. She thought this was a good excuse to go up there.
Haneul found her mom and brother grilling some pork belly up there and she was shocked to see them doing that. Her mother said she could invite Jungwoo if she really wanted to. Haneul told her mother to use the frying fan at home to grill the meat so they won’t be bothering him since he needs his peace and quiet right now.
Bada asked what his sister is doing up there and she told him that she came up to water the cabbage seeds and her mom gave her that facial expression saying I know why you are up here kinda look on her face.
They say that Haneul was never interested in cabbages but she was trying hard to defend herself with this then her uncle came up with a giant jar of ginseng booze. Bada is the only straight forward guy out of the bunch, he was telling everyone that they should just say it like it is. They are all there because they are all worried about Jungwoo so they should just be straight forward about it. Bada seems to have common sense and he tends to catch on very fast when it comes to things like this.
Bada thinks that they are making excuses like grilling the meat, bringing a huge jar of ginseng booze and watering the plant. Instead of using those excuses to express their concerns about Jungwoo, they should just come right out and say it since that is nothing to be ashamed of. Bada seems to like Jungwoo and he really does think of him as a big brother, that’s the kind of vibe I get anyways. He was straight forward enough to call him out to eat and drink with them.
Haneul’s mom thinks that Bada is so straightforward because he is part of the MZ generation. And Bada managed to bring Jungwoo out to the patio to hang with them. It seems like Haneul’s family treat Jungwoo more like a family than his own.
That Ginseng booze was closed so tightly that Jungwoo couldn’t even open it by himself and he is supposed to be super athletic and all. Jungwoo was able to open it with a little help from Haneul’s uncle. Haneul’s mom praised him saying that he did a good job.
Haneul’s uncle gave Jungwoo a glass of that Ginseng drink. It was so sweet because Jungwoo and Haneul were smiling at each other. Jungwoo is so well mannered he excused himself and sat down to eat with Haneul’s whole family.
Jungwoo and Haneul’s family drank and ate happily and I’m sure this made Haneul very content and I felt the same way. Haneul’s mom kept on pouring the ginseng drink into Jungwoo’s glass and obviously he looks pretty wasted to me. Haneul’s mom and uncle were basically encouraging Jungwoo saying that they’re glad that the truth was able to come out.
Jungwoo got a phone call but decided not to answer it. Bada catches on so quickly because he thinks that he’s getting calls from people that ignored him when he was struggling but decided to give him a call now that everything is somewhat okay again.
Haneul’s mom brought up Jungwoo dumping her daughter still, she can’t seem to get over this for some reason. Haneul was defending Jungwoo by saying it’s nothing like that at all and if they really dislike him they shouldn’t even feed Jungwoo with nice food and drink.
Haneul’s mom made meat wrapped in lettuce for Jungwoo and she was trying her best to make it seem as if they made all the food for them, not Jungwoo.
Bada was surprised that his mom knew that Jungwoo hasn’t come out of the room in days and she was wondering how she knew about that. Haneul’s mom was trying to make excuses by saying she wanted to know if he was fine or not because he is renting their rooftop apartment and she wanted to make sure she’s able to collect the rent from him. I really love Hyungsik’s/Jungwoo’s facial expressions and smiles in this show.
Haneul’s mom was making silly excuses and everybody knows that she doesn’t really mean what she says about Jungwoo then they all started laughing. I really love Hyungsik’s laugh and Jungwoo displayed Hyungsik’s fine quality yet again.
Dayoung wanted to eat Rose Spicy rice cake with his daughter and she was saying that he is not really a fan of it anyways. Besides, she is at a burger joint with her friend so she just hung up on her dad like that.
Daeyoung came to the convenience store to buy something but he ran into Hongran again and she paid for his items because she was grateful for his help last time. Daeyung asked if he could go get a bag of beef jerky and Hongran was like you make a lot of money so why do you have to ask me to buy it for you… … .Daeyoung is such a silly man.
Hongran was willing to pay for the beef jerky and on top of that she was willing to even buy him a bag of honey peanuts. Daeyoung is like a little child, he is so happy that she agreed to get it for him.
Daeyoung comes and drinks beer at the park from time to time. He drinks at the park because his daughter isn’t a fan of seeing her dad drinking. Daeyoung was telling Hongran about how challenging raising a teenage daughter really is. It seems like they are going through a generation gap, especially with the Rose Korean spicy rice cake vs Traditional spicy rice cake . Sometimes Daeyoung buys a bag of fish bread and egg bread but she wouldn’t even eat those things because only old people eat that stuff according to his teen daughter Eunjung.
Daeyoung is thinking about just folding his Neotube Channel because it embarrasses her a lot but Hongran thinks he shouldn’t do that because he made it to find meaning in life. Hongran said she will re-subscribe to his channel just to be supportive. I guess we’re gonna see this second couple blossoming slowly but surely too.
Daeyoung started his Neotube Channel because he thought it would be easy cus of Yeo Jungwoo’s rather easy success from it. Daeyoung and Jungwoo were close at one point but there was an incident that drove them away from each other. Daeyoung felt bad when that incident took everything he had away from him because he really did care about him. I don’t know why but I can’t help but to think of Jungwoo and Daeyoung as brothers because of What Happens to my Family.
Hongran encouraged Daeyoung to give Jungwoo a call to cheer him up. Meanwhile the people at the rooftop apartment look very wasted.
Haneul’s mom calls Jungwoo, “Our dear little rooftop boy.” It seems like her mom cares for him like a son unlike his actual mother. Then he smacks him on the back saying he dumped her when he actually didn’t. The mother started by saying that she knew that he had to go through an unfair situation but still she had to express her fake anger towards him dumping her dear daughter.
Haneul’s uncle asked her mother if she hates the little rooftop boy. The uncle said he’s confused because she can’t hate him and like him at the same time. Haneul’s mom was saying she feels bad when she thinks about the fact that she has a daughter the same age as him and then Jungwoo’s facial expression changed all of a sudden.
Bin Daeyoung decided to give Jungwoo a call and Haneul’s mom thinks that it’s one of his old friends that didn’t even care about him when he lost everything he had so she decided to say something to him. Daeyoung told Haneul’s mom that he called because he is worried about Jungwoo.
Daeyoung got yelled at by Haneul’s mom/ Jungwoo’s landlord and he has no idea what’s going on so he was telling Honran that this was the reason why he wasn’t gonna call him. Hongran took away the honeyed nuts she bought with her own money as she stormed off and Daeyoung asked her to give him the dragonfly back. The Hongran and Daeyoung couple are hilarious. Too bad Daeyoung doesn’t have a whole lot of interaction with Yoon Park in this show but I have a feeling that their interaction will happen a bit more as the show progresses.
Bada was so drunk that he couldn’t help but to spit out his real feelings. He’s so sick of living as an unemployed person. He resorted to stealing money from his mom, his uncle and his sister too.
Jungwoo and Haneul had to flee the scene because the drunk family members were acting a bit weird now so Haneul thought it would be best for her and Jungwoo to go somewhere else away from them.
Jungwoo and Haneul decided to go for a walk around the neighborhood. Haneul apologized for her family acting so weird like that but Jungwoo felt grateful towards them instead. Jungwoo didn’t want to be alone and when he said that Haneul told him that he should’ve called her then she would’ve gone over right away.
Jungwoo apologized to Haneul since he wasn’t able to text her for a few days. Haneul wanted to talk to him so badly but she knew that he might need a little space for himself because he just went through something so huge like that in his life.
People that are supposed to actually call him didn’t because they care about him a little too much while the wanted have been calling him and texting him like crazy.
Jungwoo told Haneul that he wanted to drink with Haneul alone so they went to a local neighborhood pub to drink, just the two of them. Jungwoo was being real with Haneul
Jungwoo confessed to Haneul that he doesn’t have a supportive family like her. Trials and tribulations happen to everybody so he should be grateful for what he has. This was the way to cheer himself up in difficult times in his life. Jungwoo was proud of himself because he’s been able to endure whatever came to him. Jungwoo went through a difficult time in his life like anybody else in the world. However, he realized he never went through anything this miserable in his life before.
Jungwoo was drinking and pretty much pouring out his heart to Haneul. I wish I was Haneul drinking with Jungwoo right now. Haneul was staring at Jungwoo and looking like she’s about to cry at any minute.
Haneul was hurting because the person she cares about lost so many things in his life.
Jungwoo then tells Haneul that he found something worthwhile instead which is Haneul. Jungwoo then confesses to Haneul that he really really really likes her. OMG! I’m in heaven right now! My heart was beating as he was confessing to Haneul word for word emphasizing every word he was saying. This is certainly the highlight of episode 7 in my humble opinion.
Haneul was being all shy and awkward again which I find it to be super adorable. Haneul has a different kind of adorbs compared to Do Bongsoon from SWDBS!
Jungwoo reminded Haneul of what he told her before. He said that she is like his medicine. This reminds me of what Sam Maekjong said to Aro back in Hwarang a handful of years ago. I really love Jungwoo because he is the most realistic character that he’s played so far. Jungwoo is probably the closest to Hyungsik out of every single character he has played so far. I might have to do a post on that soon but don’t know when though.
Jungwoo didn’t go see a doctor when he was going through PTSD because he had Haneul to cure him. Haneul is like a medicine to Jungwoo to cure his anxiety problems. Jungwoo’s life is so salty but Haneuls is so sweet that she’s able to balance him out to some degree. Jungwoo thinks that Haneul is like a salty candy to him. Jungwoo’s life was so bitter but spending time with Haneul was so sugary that it felt like eating chocolate mixed with bracken.
I loved the way they were smiling at each other. Jungwoo drank so much that he couldn’t walk straight. They discovered a machine where you can win a stuffed toy. Haneul has never played with a machine like that before. He was so drunk that he was walking all funny while heading over to the machine to show her what it could do. I thought it was so funny how he referred to him as her oppa when they are the same age in the show and in real life she is older than Hyungsik by a year…..I ship this couple big time! Although, Hyungsik looks better with shorter girls though and that’s why he looked cuter with Park Boyoung…..
Jungwoo confessed to her again that he likes her while looking so drunk and obviously she knows that by now because he’s stated several times already. So this is why Jungwoo is so determined to win a prize for his dear Nam Haneul.
Jungwoo and Haneul went into the local convenience store and like a little kid he stuck his whole head in the freezer where they store their ice creams. Haneul said that ice cream is the best when you are drunk. Then Jungwoo asked Haneul if he hadn’t confessed to her yet and she said he already did that. Haneul said that he confessed to her several times already and he decided to say it again while showing us his beautiful red cheeks on our screens.
PARK HYUNGSIK WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?! I MEAN TO US?! HEHEHE
Jungwoo and Haneul smiled at each other again and they were about to choose the kind of ice cream they each wanted. They both went to the local park and Jungwoo looked up at the sky and saw a huge full moon lighting up the sky. Haneul said that it’s so round and bright looking that she wanted to make a wish, it’s the perfect kind of moon to make a wish in her opinion.
Jungwoo started to pray for Haneul. Since Jungwoo’s case was solved more or less he felt like it was Haneul’s turn to find happiness. Haneul was surprised that he prayed about her so loudly and Jungwoo said being loud about it is better so that way the heaven will hear you out.
He was about to confess to her again but she was able to guess what he was about to say it since he’s been telling her this so many times already and he was so surprised that she knew. Yeo Jungwoo is such a silly dude, I would love to have a drink with this man.
Jungwoo said that Haneul is the kidney bean he planted long ago. Also, Haneul is his medicine, salty candy, chocolate mixed with bracken, and kidney beans. Haneul apparently has so many different things. I wish I could be like this to Jungwoo/Hyungsik.
Jungwoo is curious how Haneul will blossom in the future. Jungwoo’s facial expressions are so cute and funny in this whole segment. Jungwoo was desperate to find someone that would truly/genuinely believe in him for his entire life. He always wished that he could have that somebody in his life even if it’s just one single person. But thankfully his wish came true because Haneul appeared in his life one day.
Jungwoo and Haneul were brightly smiling at each other and he shyly asked her if he could hold her hand then she said he totally can hold it. OMG! WHAT IS THIS DRAMA DOING TO ME? This show is romantic like SWDBS so it obviously has many similarities but Jungwoo seems to be more delicate than Minhyuk but in a good kind of way though.
Jungwoo just didn’t grab Haneul’s hand but asked for her permission to do it. Jungwoo is such a well mannered guy and I feel like Hyungsik would be like this too. Both Hyungsik and Jungwoo are gentlemen. But when you think about it, All of the Shikkie characters are gentlemen when you think about it.
Jungwoo grabbed Haneul’s hands very slowly and as they finally started holding hands, he scooted up really close to her to the point where their bodies were literally stuck together.
Jungwoo looked up at the moon and said, the moon is so bright tonight! I love Jungwoo and Haneul’s happy smiles too. Haneul agrees that the moon is shining bright for them and it looks very pretty too.
Jungwoo asked Haneul if he asked her already and she thought he’s gonna ask her the same question so she answered him the same way but she was dead wrong. Jungwoo told Haneul that she is really pretty. Sometimes I feel like they kinda want to kiss each other but obviously they are taking their time on that one which I don’t mind.…..Haneul thinks that he hasn’t told her that yet and he asked her in a surprised voice, “I didn’t tell you that yet?”
Man, I really ship this couple big time. I think I did from the very beginning although I didn’t feel that way before the show began though. Jungwoo kept on confessing to Haneul over and over again, this is so Park Hyungsik in a nutshell. Hyungsik grew up expressing these kinds of words while growing up so it’s quite natural to him.
Haneul knew that Jungwoo really liked her but yet he kept on repeating himself because he was so lonely deep within and her heart ached for him.
“Did I tell? I like you?” This is Jungwoo’s signature line now. I think I want this as a ringtone.
Finally, Haneul responded back to Jungwoo saying she likes him too while both of them were looking up at the sky, at the beautiful silver moon shining so brightly for them. The episode ended as they were both smiling like little goofballs.
I wonder what the next episode, episode 8 is gonna be like. From the preview it seems like Haneul is trying to figure out her relationship status with Jungwoo. He said he liked her and even held her hands so she wants to think that they are official now.
I want to mention that I like the OST of this show as well. It’s because it goes well with the overall mood for the show and I also like the background music as well. It looks like Jungwoo and Haneul are gonna go out on a date again, possibly as an actual couple now.
Episode 7 was great because we got to see some things get resolved like Jungwoo’s case. Jungwoo didn’t have to go through all that but it made him stronger. In the end he also got rewarded with his medicine, Miss. Nam Haneul. I really love Jungwoo and Haneul’s relationship blossoming into a beautiful flower and I’m looking forward to how they will grow as individuals and as a couple as well.
Dr. Slump is one of those where I actually support the primary couple and secondary couple. In a lot of these K-dramas, it’s either you support the primary couple but not the secondary couple or vice versa. It’s quite uncommon to ship both the primary couple and secondary couple.
Jungwoo might’ve had everything growing up as a child, a teen and even into adulthood but there’s something he didn’t have, a supportive family. Now, he has Haneul and her family even though her mom keeps on bringing up the fact he got dumped by Yeo Jungwoo.
‘
I not only love Jungwoo and Haneul’s blossoming relationship but I’m also curious about how things will end up for Hongran and Daeyoung. I think Hongran’s little boy would love Daeyoung and Eunjung, Daeyoung’s teen daughter might like Hongran. I don’t know, they have some things in common like the two being divorced single parents.
I also like the relationship between Jungwoo and Haneul’s whole family but especially with Bada, her little brother. I don’t know what it is but the two really have brotherly chemistry and I think Bada would be lucky to have a big brother like Jungwoo. It’s weird cus the dude that plays Bada really looks like Taehyung, one of Shikkie’s Wooga brothers and Tae is like Shikkie’s baby brother.
There were a lot of romantic moments and I can’t forget Jungwoo constantly asking Haneul if he told her if he likes her yet. And the highlight for me was them holding hands while looking at the moonlight.
I’m glad things are working out for Jungwoo but Haneul has things to work on as well. I have high hopes for both of them individually and as a couple but the show isn’t close to being over so I’m sure there will be a few more bumpy roads up ahead for the both of them.
I’m so confused about Kyungmin though. Kyungmin is the one who helped Jungwoo move into the rooftop apartment but he keeps on giving me bad vibes and it was like that since a few episodes ago where he told him that Jungwoo doesn’t deserve to be happy right now. I wonder what he is really up to…… .I’m starting to wonder if Kyungmin had a thing for Haneul or what……I guess it will soon be revealed what this Kyungmin guy is all about.
