This episode was funny or rather this show has been super funny so far. They just aired the fourth episode earlier today and all the four episodes I have watched so far was so funny and entertaining. I think Hyungsik’s acting and his character Yeo Jungwoo is very comical. I don’t think his previous character from different shows were this funny. Probably the two funniest Shikkie characters besides Jungwoo has to be Cha Dalbong from WHTMF and Ahn Minhyuk from SWDBS…
I like how this show is able to go back and forth from their high school days to their adult years so smoothly, I think the editing is really good when it comes to their timeline.
This episode starts out going back to the past when they were in High School then it goes back to the beach. I really enjoyed Jungwoo acting so cute and hyper. He wrote something on the sand with a stick. I thought Jungwoo grabbing Haneul and being playful with her was super cute. He took some photos with his phone as well to make memory of their little trip. This trip is very special to the both of them but especially Haneul since she’s never had fun like this her entire life because her whole life revolved around school and home, then work and home….
Jungwoo wrote: April of 2023 was the day Yeo Jungwoo and Nam Haneul became friends
On their way back home they stopped by a local restaurant. I really liked Jungwoo’s black suit, it really looks good on him or should I say, Park Hyungsik looks so good in black suits and black socks. Anyways, I love the whole restaurant segment but the thing is there are no throw away scenes and segments of this particular episode. As a matter of fact there are no throw away segments/scenes of this show just yet and I doubt that it’s gonna happen like that at all.
The restaurant segment lets us see how the two are not only acquainted in such a short amount of time but their relationship has developed into something deeper. I can totally I understand why the lady that works at the restaurant thought they were a couple. Haneul handed over the essay paper for his rare case so it could help him the next time he goes to court. Also, in return Jungwoo goes out to ask the lady that works at the restaurant for a phone charger. There were so many heartwarming and flustering scenes in this whole restaurant segment. Haneul falls asleep and Jungwoo discovers her shivering so he goes over to cover her with his black jacket. At first he tries to convince himself that he shouldn’t then he realizes that friends could do that for each other so he puts his jacket over her. I thought this scene was so cute and it made my heart beat so fast as if he was doing that for me!
It was so funny that the lady at the restaurant recommended getting a room at the inn or the motel because Jungwoo wanted to get her permission for allowing Haneul to take a nap there for a few hours. Jungwoo is such a sweetheart. I love this Yeo Jungwoo character because he is so smart, considerate, sweet, well mannered, well dressed, good looking, kind and much more….
I must say my favorite scene for this whole restaurant segment was when Haneul was about to fall asleep on his shoulders and he felt so nervous that he moved his body away from her but then her head ended up falling on his lap which made him even more nervous. I loved the body language, body positioning and face expression of Jungwoo here and Hyungsik was so great at portraying this characters so naturally well. The way Jungwoo was trying to move so he won’t touch her but she kept on insisting to lay on his lap reminds me of how Seonwoo try to make Eunsoo move but she kept on coming closer to him as she was still mostly? Asleep?
Also, before they actually get in the car and head back to the big city, the two go out into the marina to look at the ocean while drinking some instant coffee in a paper cup. It’s funny because Hyungsik’s other character Yoo Changsoo made fun of Jiyi drinking coffee out of a paper cup but Jungwoo loved this instant coffee in a paper cup, he thought it was so sweet and delicious.
The talk Jungwoo and Haneul in front of the ocean made you realize what kind of person Yeo Jungwoo really is. When you just look at his high school self you would think that he is a proud, self centered narcissist but he really has a heart of gold even though he has some narcissistic traits here and there when it comes to Haneul which I will be talking about later on in this article.
Hongran, Haneul’s friend keeps on referring to the rooftop guy/ Yeo Jungwoo her first love but it seems like Jungwoo enjoys this a lot. For some reason he seems so happy when he thinks about how he could possibly be Haneul’s first love. Haneul denies that Jungwoo is his first love but Jungwoo thinks otherwise, he does want to believe what Hongran’s saying is true.
When Haneul’s mom sees Jungwoo and Haneul coming home together she feels a bit concerned about it. At first, Haneul’s mom thought that she went to Sokcho with her friend Hongran. So, Haneul’s mom asks Hongran to hook her daughter up with somebody to go on a blind date with but it ended up being Bin Dae Young, a person that Jungwoo knows as well but for this particular episode nobody knows this yet. I think it would be funny once they all find out that Bin Dae Young is someone that Yeo Jungwoo knows.
I loved looking at Jungwoo’s/Hyungsik’s long limbs in this one particular scene. He is tall but in this one scene he looked even taller. There was this scene where Haneul went up to the rooftop to visit Jungwoo for something. Jungwoo was sitting down on his desk chair thinking about what Hongran said about him being Haneul’s first love then while he was in la la land, Haneul came up to his place to see him. She came over to ask him to accompany her to go shopping. Jungwoo was all smiles because he thought this was almost like her asking him out on a date but she had her own reasons to why she asked him to go shopping with her. There was this moment where she was touching her coffee cup acting all shy and Jungwoo asks why she’s being so shy and this made me feel so flustered. She quickly runs back down to her place and Jungwoo found this to be adorable. Jungwoo’s smiles and Hanuel’s facial expressions made me so flustered the whole time. I think I would act the same way as Haneul if I was sitting next to such a guy like Yeo Jungwoo. Oh and I loved how Jungwoo offered Haneul a cup of home made coffee. Jungwoo is such a guy next door….Jungwoo’s kindness and manners remind me of Han Seonwoo from Soundtrack while his playfulness reminds me of Ahn Minhyuk from Strong Woman Do Bongsoon. However, Park Hyungsik himself has all of these traits.
I forgot to mention the little part where Jungwoo uses his spit to straighten his hair out before he opens the door for Haneul, this guy is so cheesy and I’m so glad that we the fans are able to see so much cheesiness in this show. And after Haneul leaves his place Jungwoo looks at himself in the mirror and shows us his narcissistic traits but it wasn’t over done, it was done in a playful way that it was easily forgivable. He said, “Wow, my eyes hurt! Who is this? Wow, I’m so good looking.” His confidence tends to come back when it’s Nam Haneul even if he is going through the most difficult time in his life due to losing everything that he worked so hard for even though most likely it’s not his fault.
I loved how the two were already acting like a couple that just became friends when they were walking to the mall. Jungwoo put on his black baseball cap which made me think about Han Seonwoo from Soundtrack. In Soundtrack Han Seonwoo has the exact black baseball cap on before he goes off to the military. Jungwoo was being considerate again and he put on his baseball cap because he didn’t want people chitter chattering about her because she is with him. Haneul tells him that he doesn’t have to do that and she tries to take his cap off for him but she ended up almost falling on the ground which he caught her on time like that one time back in High School. The two were looking at each other’s eyes and I was able to see that they already like each other just by the eyes. The two looking at each other like that reminded me of episode 7 of Strong Woman Do Bongsoon when Minhyuk was training Bongsoon. Also, the way Haneul into Jungwoo’s arms reminds me of how Min Jaeyi fell into the Crowned Prince’s arms in Our Blooming Youth on Episode 8……
I also forgot to mention the part where Jungwoo was going through his closet, trying to pick out what to wear when going shopping with Haneul. He was already having a thing for her, it’s so obvious. If he just thinks of her as a friend why would he take so long trying to pick out what to wear when going shopping with her?
Haneul asks for Jungwoo’s opinion about the two dresses she likes. She wasn’t sure which one to pick so she asked him which dress would look better on her and he shyly picked the beige dress. Jungwoo was so proud that she asked for his opinion. You could totally tell that Jungwoo was already super into her. But it’s not just him, you could tell that Haneul’s into Jungwoo too but she is a bit more reserved about it. Haneul changes into the dress that he picked out for her and she does her little spin then asks him if she looks pretty or not…..Jungwoo shyly tells her that it’s pretty….not her but the dress. This whole fashion show sequence reminded me a bit of Yoo Chang Soo and Lee Jiyi’s Cinderella date back in High Society. Although, Changsoo was way more confident about it while Jungwoo was more shy….Jungwoo was shy in front of Haneul but when she is not looking he turns into a bit of a narcissist but in a cute way….
After Haneul got what she wanted, she tells him why he is not the culprit of this incident. The two look at each other smiling and Haneul tries to tell him something but it’s something completely unexpected which surprised Jungwoo a little bit. Haneul tells him that she has something to say to him and it looked like he was expecting her to confess her feelings for him but then she told him that she is going on a blind date with someone which made the guy really sad. Of course, he didn‘t want to admit that he’s disappointed in front of her. After he got back up to his rooftop apt, he was trying to convince himself that it’s better that he is not gonna get involved with her since dating somebody that’s your first love could be a bit burdensome. However, he was upset that she was going on a blind date and he was freaking out. Jungwoo was throwing a tantrum like a little kid and his white socks were so visible which made me so happy. I have a thing for Shikkie with socks on….Black socks and white socks especially…..
Back in high school Haneul hurt her arm because she fell on the ground because of the fan incident. Haneul was trying to study but she couldn’t focus because of this old fan hanging up on the ceiling. Haneul was trying to fix it and she almost fell to the ground but Jungwoo caught her and everyone told them to just date already. They were staring into each other’s eyes again and I think they liked each other back then too but they had such high pride that they just couldn’t admit it. Jungwoo got embarrassed so he let her go and she fell on the ground which made her hurt her arm. Because of this she couldn’t write notes down as fast as she normally could. Haneul just couldn’t function normally and because of this Jungwoo felt very bad about this so he was sweet enough to record all the lectures, take down notes for all the lectures and even carry her backpack. Even though these two were rivals they already acted like a couple to some degree.
This show displays all kinds of different fashion for our dear Shikkie. There was a scene where Jungwoo is wearing a pair of track suit when he’s going jogging and my gosh, this man looks GOOD in anything and everything! I love his wavy black hair too….SUCH A STUNNING MAN! PARK HYUNGSIK IS SO DAMN HOT! I MEAN YEO JUNGWOO IS DARN HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haneul was wearing the dress that Jungwoo picked out for her and she was heading over to the location where she’s supposed to meet her blind date. Jungwoo was trying so hard not to look disappointed. Haneul was practically skipping so happily which made Jungwoo a little weirded out by it.
Oh man, Yoon Park or should I say Bin Dae Young, Nam Haneul’s blind is so hilarious. I didn’t know that Yoon Park could do comedy. I’m so used to him being such a stiff and arrogant guy Cha Kangje from WHTMF. This guy played Shikkie’s brother in that old show from 10 years ago. Shikkie played a character named Cha Dalbong and Yoon Park played his older brother Cha Kangje.
Yoon Park’s character Bin Dae Young is a strange guy. He only has six subscribers on his Neotube channel and apart from family members Lee Hongran is the only person that’s not family who subscribed to his channel. Hongran hooked these two up through the help of her assistant at work and she did it to help out Haneul’s mom who wanted her to go out on a blind date after that beach trip.
Bin Dae Young was constantly asking Haneul about Hongran and Haneul kept on referring to herself as Hongran, or so he thought….Here’s the kicker though, Bin Dae Young is a recently divorced man with a preteen/teenage daughter which surprised Haneul. Apparently, Hongran has a kid too, she has a little boy.
Bin Dae Young is such a cheesy guy and I could see why this blind date did not work out. Besides, it seems like this Bin Dae Young character is so focused on Hongran anyways…..
When Jungwoo finds out that the blind date did not work out he seemed pretty happy…..As they were walking over to the house, Haneul was telling Jungwoo how her blind date didn’t work out and the guy was a bit strange and this kinda made Jungwoo’s day. Haneul’s aunts came to visit and her mom told them that she’s gonna get married soon and a whole bunch of other things. They found out that Jungwoo is just her friend and he used to work as a plastic surgeon so the ladies asked him to give them a diagnosis of their faces. However, Jungwoo was a little too honest which hurt their feelings and they started trash talking about Haneul and her family which broke her heart.
Before Haneul went over to Jungwoo’s apartment with some booze and food, he was talking on the phone with an old friend that‘s helping him with his case. OMG! SHIKKIE HAD GLASSES ON! I think this was his first time wearing glasses in one of his main shows! Yeo Jungwoo looks so good with glasses on!
HERE’S THE HIGHLIGHT FOR ME…..
Jungwoo and Haneul were drinking together while just talking about life. They drank all the soju, and beer that Haneul brought along with some food too. They drank so much but I guess that wasn’t enough so Jungwoo got a bottle of whiskey that’s been in his fridge since he moved into the rooftop apartment.
They were romantically drinking whiskey in the rain. Since it was raining outside, they had to cover themselves up with a vinyl umbrella which I thought was very romantic and cute. Haneul was so drunk that she was about to fall asleep on his shoulder again and he used his long fingers to play with her hair a little.
Jungwoo advised Haneul to apply for a position on some website and when she went back home that night from Jungwoo’s apartment she applied on a whim without too much thought. They called her the next morning asking her to come for an interview. The thing is this place was rather far away, it was in some smaller town. Haneul came up to his rooftop apartment to get his advice whether she should go for an interview with this position since it’s away from home and all. However, Jungwoo cheered her on, he was a little bummed about it because he didn’t want to be away from her and hypothetically if she gets the job she would have to move away since commuting would be too much. Despite all that, Jungwoo wanted to be supportive so he wished her luck with the interview. And with Jungwoo’s moral support, she decided to take the train to go to this interview in another city far away from her home.
Jungwoo goes out to lunch with a hyung he knows. They go out to eat a bowl of rice soup and while they are chit chatting about this and that he learns that they are not gonna give Haneul a chance because she quit on bad terms. This so isn’t fair since none of it was Haneul’s fault. Professor Kim is the one who’s completely in the wrong. He is the one that stole Haneul’s thesis paper and he was the one that was bullying Haneul all along……I was so mad but I wasn’t so surprised either. And as soon as Jungwoo hears about this from his friend, he stops eating and takes the train over to the place that Haneul is at right now. She is in for a rude awakening, she doesn’t even get the chance to be interviewed since she gets a call saying that she doesn’t need to….Haneul was so broken hearted and as she was trying to work all this out in her head, Jungwoo was there to support her emotionally.
I love Yeo Jungwoo, I’m so in love with this guy that he is my favorite Shikkie character out of all the ones he played so far. I remember loving Seonwoo, Yihyun, Changsoo, Lee Hwan, King Jinheung, Yeonwoo, and Dalbong but now……I think Jungwoo beat all these guys, bar none! I am so excited about the next episode…..
I’m a little worried about Jungwoo though because at the end we saw this pen like device recording everything. It was right under Jungwoo’s desk and he has no idea that he’s being recorded…it’s so creepy…..
