An intern at Yumin Corp: Chapter 14

·

Jen’s mom was up early, so she decided to come and talk to her daughter early in the morning. Jen was already up but hasn’t gotten out of bed yet.

*Knock Knock*

“Jen are you awake?” The mother asked as she was coming into her room.

“Yes…mother…” Jen was still upset with her dad and with her sister. She wasn’t quite upset with her mom since she made attempts to stop her dad and sister from picking on her beloved.

“We are so sorry if the dinner didn’t turn out to be what we’d hoped. I think it’s all my fault…”

“Mother you don’t have to feel bad…you tried to stop dad and sis from giving him a hard time…”

The dad was in the dining room drinking his morning coffee and reading his daily morning newspaper while clearing his throat. Jen’s sister came into the room as well to apologize to her for the trouble she caused at the dinner table.

“Jen….I’m sorry…”

“Sis…..what you did last night was wrong! You embarrassed Director Yoo…..you shouldn’t have asked him questions like that…..!!!” Jen kinda shouted at her big sister that she loves.

Jen’s sis was surprised because she’s never seen Jen defend someone like this before…

“You love him right sis? I can tell….”

“I do…I really do….I am in love with him…!.” Jen said with a lot of emotion.

Both her mom and sis realized that Jen wasn’t playing. The mom was gonna say more but Jen cut to the chase.

“Mom…I have something to tell you……I think I need to get my own place…..I think I need to learn how to be on my own….” Jen said, trying to come off as genuine.

“Jen…is it because of how we treated Changsoo last night at the dinner?”

“Partly yes… but I think it’s time for me to live out on my own…I think I need a little freedom….” Jen said while sighing.

“Sorry, Jen……please don’t move…..I’m so sorry….I will never ask those kinds of questions again when he comes over next time….” The sister said, almost panicking.

“Amy!” Jen said, trying to calm her sister down….

“Amy…Sis…Listen…..the main reason why I want to move out is because I want to learn how to be independent because that’s who I am…I want to learn more about life…”

“It’s not because of us?” Amy asked her.

“No sis….I just feel like I need to … .please support my decision in doing this….” Said Jen in the most earnest tone ever.

“Mom, Sis….please allow me to move out….I will visit you guys often I promise….”

“We will respect your decision but rent is really expensive out there…this is the city…… .The rent here in Seoul is really expensive, you know…..Do we need us to help you with the rent?” The mother asked.

“No mother…the point of moving out is to try it out for myself…..if I need help, I will let you know…I won’t be able to live above my means and I am okay with that……… Also, I’m not an intern anymore but now I’m Changsoo’s secretary so I make okay money to get a decent place…” Jen said, trying to convince her mom and sis. The only problem now was trying to convince her father.

“Mom, sis…I have to get ready for work now…” Jen tried to rush her mom and sister out the door because she wanted to go to work already.

“Okay…dear…” Jen’s mom and sis gave her a hug and left her room.

She was getting ready to go to work and she decided to send her boyfriend a text but it’s funny because they both sent a text message at the same time, saying almost the same thing.

Hey, Babe I miss you……

Hey Changsoo honey, I miss you

Jen decided to call her man honey now, she feels a strong bond between her and boyfriend so she feels like a pet name like Changsoo honey works perfectly when they are not at work.

As Changsoo was all smiles getting ready for work his mom decided to come in.

“Changsoo ya…we need to talk…”

“Yes mother….did you miss me?”

“Of course! My boy, you belong to me…” Mrs Yoo patted him on the back.

“Mom, I have to get ready for work now….”

“You’ve been really enthusiastic about going to work lately….something is up isn’t it? You were never like this…you hardly were excited to go to work but now you seem to really enjoy it … .come on…what’s going on?”

“Nothing mother……!”

“My boy, it’s all in your face…..Anyways…what’s going on between you and Yoonha…?She was telling me that you’ve been seeing that intern girl…or more like your secretary now but……”

“Mother,I really don’t want to marry her…..she is just a sister to me….how many times do I have to tell you that?!” Changsoo asked in a frustrated voice.

“Tell me….are you really dating that secretary of yours? What’s her name….Jen?”

“Yes, mom…I’m gonna come clean and tell you…we are dating and we are in love…”

“What did you say?”

“I said I’m in love with her, mother…!”

“How could you say that?! This is all my fault…I should’ve monitored you a lot harder….and what’s with this Yoonha? She was really into kicking Jen out of the company not too long ago….I gotta call her…..”

“Mother…can you do this in your room…I gotta change….” Changsoo didn’t take his mom seriously about her and Yoonha working together to kick Jen out of the company so that’s why he is not phased by her mentioning something like that in front of him.

“You’ll see … .I’m gonna take care of this once and for all…” said Changsoo’s mother, determined to do something about Jen. She was depending on Yoonha to do it but things are turning out rather weird. Not too long ago, Mrs. Yoo was scolded by Yoonha saying that she was being a weakling when it comes to Jen but it seemed like it was becoming the other way around.

Changsoo’s mother left the room and went to her own bedroom.

“What’s going on?” Mrs Yoo said to herself. She dialed Yoonha’s number but she wasn’t answering. Yoonha wasn’t answering the phone because she was getting ready for work as well.

Yoonha thought about something as she was getting ready for work. She might have had a quick impulse of this burning infatuation for Changsoo but it kinda fizzled out so suddenly because she’s coming to a realization that she didn’t want to live like her family members.

Seeing her mom unhappy, drowning herself in wine everyday, while creating stupid drama with her father’s mistress warned her how not to live. She likes the wealth she is living in but then what’s the use if you are still miserable because nobody seems to be happy in her household.

The current mistress isn’t the only one that her father had an affair with. During his heyday, he had many affairs with a lot of different women. This is a bit of a trauma for Yoonha and being with Changsoo could trigger that, there is a deep seated mistrust there so her relationship could very well end up in a disaster.

She also had to give Jen credit where it’s due, her being able to trust a guy like Changsoo was amazing. He even changed 180 degrees for someone he cares about so I guess there’s some hope for guys that couldn’t live happily with one woman in the past.

“Why isn’t she answering? Is she ignoring me?” Mrs Yoo was getting really anxious by now. She called again. “Yoonha, answer….pick up the phone…”

Mrs Yoo gave up on trying to reach her. She decided to just go to the office herself.

Jen was able to make it to work on time. Despite having a rich boyfriend she still commutes to work by public transportation. Changsoo offered her a ride a few times but she declined it. She didn’t want to rely on Changsoo too much because for one she is an independent girl/ independent young woman. Also she didn’t want Changsoo’s family to misunderstand if they somehow found out about it. Besides, she finds public transit comfortable anyways. She thinks that people watching is a lot of fun. It’s also a quick and easy ride so she doesn’t mind it at all.

There is a secret that Jen never told but she gets inspired on the train too. When she is lucky enough to get a seat commuting to work, she would open up her diary and start jotting down her deepest innermost thoughts that she never shared with anyone.

Jen got to work before Changsoo. Changsoo was running a little late because of his mom but was able to make it on time nonetheless.

Jen was organizing Changsoo’s office, she made sure that all the paperwork was neatly stacked. She also dusted off the furniture in the office to make it look neat and presentable for Changsoo.

As Jen was finishing up, Changsoo walked in.

“Hello, director Yoo…!” Jen said cheerfully.

“Good morning…Ba…I mean..Secretary Park..”

“Director Yoo, would you like me to get you some coffee or tea?”

“Oh, some drip coffee will be nice…! Thanks, Miss Park…” Changsoo said with a wink.

“I’ll be right back…” Jen said with a smile while walking out of the office.

Jen walked over to the cafe downstairs inside of the company building to get the drink that Changsoo asked for.

“Here you go, Director Yoo … .it’s the drip coffee you asked for, it’s  nice and hot…..I made sure to come back as quickly as I possibly could so it won’t get cold..” Jen set the coffee down carefully on Changsoo’s desk and he grabbed her hand then winked at her.

“Thank you, secretary Park…”

Jen quickly pulled her hand away from his because she didn’t want to get tempted to act out her fantasy. Jen quickly went back to her seat so she could focus on her work.

Yoonha got to the office a little late but Joongi didn’t say anything to her. Yoonha was surprised because she thought he was gonna get mad at her and even scold her.

“Hi Deputy Choi……Sorry..I’m late…I had to take care of something…”

“No..don’t worry about it…….you are not even that late…..sometimes it’s easy to get caught in traffic….” Joongi said with a smile on his face, he just could not seem to hide it with Yoonha.

“Thanks, deputy Choi…” Yoonha liked the fact that Joongi was so understanding. She always needed a trustworthy male role model in the household but she certainly didn’t get that with her old man.

Her older brother that treated her rather well  is living in another country, and Changsoo reminded her of her father. However, Joongi seemed so understanding that she was able to feel comforted. Yoonha was confused because her main goal of coming to Yumin was to get Jen kicked out and have Changsoo all for herself. However the more she thought about this, it just didn’t feel true to her heart. She couldn’t understand why she wanted Changsoo all to herself when she really hates womanizers, and she really doesn’t want to marry him anyways…All of this was a mystery to her.

Yoonha was slowly loosening up. She was trying to let go of her baggage and angst, as she is learning how to allow people into her world. Yoonha never really had close friends. Yoonha always felt lonely because she had nobody to turn to for her emotional turmoil. The only thing that was able to allow her to continue on with her life was to hold onto something and that being obsessed with something or someone senselessly, even if it didn’t make sense at all.

Joongi decided to take the courage and open up to Yoonha.

“Miss Jang, would you like to have lunch with me, Director Yoo, Secretary Park, and Lee Jiyi from the grocery department?”

Yoonha felt a little awkward to face Director Yoo and Secretary Park because she came to Yumin and became Joongi’s secretary to specifically break up the happy couple and make Jen unemployed in the end but she didn’t want to do that anymore. Although she would have to face Mrs Yoo pretty soon and deal with her.

“Uhhh…yeah … .sure…..” Yoonha was awkward to say yes to this but she bit the bullet and just went for it.

“You won’t regret it….they are good people……” Joongi said with a smile.

Joongi texted Changsoo and let him know that they are gonna all have lunch together later on at the company cafeteria.

Jen was working on her spreadsheet for something and also making phone calls. Jen was really busy today, she had a lot of things to work on. She had to look at some stats and reports for the company to make sure that they are meeting the quota and all since the profit of the company is very important in this capitalistic society. As Jen was focusing on her work Changsoo cleared his throat.

“Ahem…”

“Do you need something Director Yoo?”

“No, not really…..but I want to tell you something…”

“What is it, Director Yoo?”

“Joongi wants to eat lunch with us, let’s go to the cafeteria when lunchtime comes…you okay with that right?”

“Yeah…that should be fine…” Jen was excited to have lunch with Changsoo and Joongi although she doesn’t know that Yoonha and Jiyi will be joining them.

Meanwhile, Mrs Yoo was planning to go to Yumin Corp today to meet with Yoonha, his own son and even Jen. She wanted to proclaim something once and for all.

Jen has been working so hard that she didn’t know that it was already lunch time. She was taking a breather and stood up for a few seconds to stretch her arms.

“You look so tired…I think it’s time for a break.” Changsoo said, smiling at her.

Jen looked at the time and realized that it was already lunch time.

“Oh my goodness! It’s already lunch time!”

“Yeah … .Ba…I mean Secretary Park….it’s sure is lunchtime…I am hungry…Let’s go!” Changsoo has a habit of wanting to call Jen Babe, even at work but he is smart enough to correct himself real fast.

“Okay…let’s go…” They wanted to hold hands while walking out of Changsoo’s office but didn’t do that. There were many eyes watching and they didn’t want people all over the company to know about their relationship even though a lot of people do know about it already.

Jen and Changsoo couple got to the cafeteria. There was Joongi sitting there but it wasn’t just Joongi. There were Yoonha and Jiyi as well.

“I invited them too..” said Joongi smiling and constantly staring at Yoonha.

Changsoo was happy that Joongi gets to be around someone he really likes but Jiyi was looking sad. Changsoo looked at the sad and depressed state of Jiyi and he thought about what Jen said to him on the day they went over to Jen’s place to eat dinner with her family.

Jen was a little surprised to see Yoonha there. Jen never had anything against Yoonha so it didn’t bother her much but Yoonha felt slightly uncomfortable because if she did go through with her original plans, Jen wouldn’t even be here right now and maybe even Changsoo would have to break up with Jen.

Yoonha has been having a hard time deciding if she should go through with her original plan with Changsoo’s mother but this one act completely made her decide to drop it all together. Yoonha felt like Jen was so kind, generous and even compassionate.

Everyone sat down except for Jen because she decided to buy everyone lunch.

“I’m planning to get some food for everyone….can you please tell me what you want?” Jen asked kindly and sweetly with her charming smile that Changsoo fell in love with.

Yoonha was too awkward to say anything so Joongi ordered for the both of them.

“Can you get me and Yoonha two turkey sandwiches?” Joongi asked with a kind smile.

“Yes, sure! How about you….Director Yoo? And what about you Jiyi?”

Changsoo was thinking for a bit……

“Hmmm…I would like some Tuna sandwich…..Don’t worry, Jen…I will go with you so I can buy lunch….”

“You sure, director Yoo?”

“Yeah I am sure of it but I still want you to come with me so you can help me bring the food over to the table…”

“Okay!” Jen said cheerfully.

“Oh yeah…what about you Jiyi?” Jen asked.

“I’ll just take a bowl of chicken salad.” Jiyi said with a depressed tone of voice. Jiyi couldn’t stand Joongi sweetly smiling at Yoonha and even ordered lunch for her although Director Yoo is the one treating everyone now instead of Jen.

“OKAY! Order complete!” Changsoo said cheerfully.

“Let’s go Jen!”

“Okay, Director Yoo.”

They both went and bought the requested food items and brought them back to the table.

They were at first awkward but Jen decided to say something first.

“I was wondering if we can all go clubbing this weekend.”

“That’s great!” said Joongi but Changsoo wasn’t having it. He doesn’t want to be reminded of his colorful past.

“Like I said…I dunno about that…” Changsoo said while taking a big bite of his tuna sandwich. Jen got a tuna sandwich as well because he wanted to be like her loving boyfriend.

“I want to cheer Jiyi up..” Jen said, looking at Jiyi while taking a bite of her tuna sandwich as well.

“Cheer me up? I am fine…” said Jiyi trying not to look sad.

Yoonha was so confused because she was slowly beginning to like Joongi while she had no idea that Jiyi had a thing for him.

“Director Yoo … .maybe you should introduce Jiyi to a nice friend…I am sure you have one of those right?” Jen asked cutely.

Yoonha thought that Jen and Changsoo were adorable. She just couldn’t help but to smile. She realized that she would never make Changsoo happy because of her insecurities. There would be no trust and they would always fight over nothing cus Yoonha would always be suspicious of him for the smallest things.

Yoonha decided to drop the whole thing helping Changsoo’s mom with her plan. Instead she was determined to help Jen and Changsoo bond even more.

Yoonha decided to agree to go to the club together on the weekend and Changsoo had no other choice but to go along with it even if he really didn’t want to.

“Let’s all go have fun at the club…I haven’t loosened up in a while…let’s go party it up!” said Yoonha. Joongi agreed to it and Jiyi was just nodding her head being mildly okay with this sudden focus on her.

“Jiyi…you are okay with it right? Let’s make this night about you….” said Jen.

“Okay…” Jiyi nodded softly.

“Bring a friend, Director Yoo…a good guy …Jiyi needs a partner too ya know..” said Jen smiling at Jiyi and back at Joongi and Yoonha.

“Okay..fine fine…Let’s all go to the club..” Changsoo said with his low and tired draggy voice. He really didn’t want to go and face his past again but he wanted to make Jen happy and everyone around him happy too. Changsoo was a very selfish and egoistic guy at one point but after falling in love with Jen he is a completely different person. It’s not like Jen was forcing him to change, but he changed because he wanted to by his own free will.

Changsoo was thinking about who to bring and he was able to think of only one person since a lot of his friends were up to no good womanizing clubber types. He was thinking about his friend from Elementary School, Choi Woomin. He recently got a call  from Woomin. He is back in Korea now. He left to study in Canada for a while but he finally came back.

This group of young people finished eating their lunch and were getting ready to head back. Mrs. Yoo was sitting on the big comfy chair in her son’s office. She was waiting for Changsoo and Jen’s return. She is planning to threaten them although she doubts that it would work on them. Mrs. Yoo’s first impression of Jen was good but she has no idea that she’ll grow weaker and weaker to Jen’s charms.

“Let’s go, Jen…” said Changsoo.

“Okay…..” Jen said.

Joongi decided to properly introduce everyone.

“Jen, this is my new secretary, Jang Yoonha…..”

“Nice to meet you Jen..”

“And Yoonha…..I am sure you heard of this lovely young lady, Jen Park….She is Changsoo’s secretary.”

Yoonha nodded her head because she knew exactly who Jen was.

“Nice to meet you Yoonha.”

“Okay, now that you are all acquainted…let’s get back to work! Hwaiting!”

Changsoo wanted to grab Jen’s hand really badly, he was just tempted to grab her hand but he wanted to respect her in the office so he scratched that thought immediately.

Jiyi went her own way. Joongi and Yoonha went back to their office. Last but not least Changsoo and Jen took the elevator back to their office, not having any idea that his mom was there waiting for them.

Both Jen and Changsoo entered their office one by one.

“Oh look at you two…you guys look so sweet together..” said Mrs. Yoo.

“Mother….”

“Madam Yoo…” said Jen politely.

“You two have a seat.” Mrs Yoo said in her most commanding voice so she could intimidate Jen somehow.

“I am sure you two remember what I told you before right?”

“Yes, ma’am…..” Jen said politely while bowing her head to show her respect.

“I heard that you are seeing my son, is that true?”

“Yes…I am….” Jen said with the utmost confidence.

“Oh, I see you have confidence.” Mrs Yoo couldn’t help but to fall for her charm and confidence. She didn;t want to but she was slowly falling into Jen’s charm like most people around her.

“Mom…stop giving her such a hard time! She is a good girl!”

“If you are seeing my son … .I want you to break up with him…..I will be generous and give you a week to break up with my boy and if you don’t do that I might have to terminate you from this position!”

“Mother! You can’t do that! You have no right! I am next in line after my brothers!”

“I can use your brothers to kick Jen out of this place!” Mrs. Yoo smirked at Changsoo, making him open his mouth wide in disbelief.

Jen realized that she had a mountain to climb, a steep hurdle that she must overcome to even maintain her relationship with Changsoo. At least this is what Jen felt like anyways. However, she was determined to win Changsoo’s mom over with her charms.

“I would like to talk to Jen alone…”

“Mother….you can’t talk to her without me being there….!”

“I am gonna take Miss Jen to the coffee shop down at the company lobby near the cafeteria….! Miss Jen…Will you come and join me there so we could have a nice chit chat … .Right?” Mrs. Yoo asked her in that somewhat evil smile of hers. She is trying to come off evil and intimidating but she is having a hard time making it convincing for Jen to think that way about her.

“Yes, Ma’am…I will…..I have something to tell you too Mrs. Yoo…..” Jen said confidently but in a friendly manner. Mrs. Yoo wasn’t really intimidating her because Jen couldn’t help but to think that she is actually a nice lady.

“Director Yoo…Don’t worry, I am not afraid of your mother…I can handle this…” Jen said with a sweet smile.

Changsoo couldn’t help but to worry, he didn’t want his mom to hurt his girl.

Changsoo’s mom and Jen both went down to the coffee shop to have a chit chat.

“I will go get the drinks. What would you like to drink Mrs. Yoo?”

“Just get me a drip coffee.” Mrs Yoo said arrogantly.

“Yes, ma’am … .I will be right back….” Jen said politely.

Jen got the drinks and brought it safely back to the table that they were gonna be sitting at.

“So, you said you are seeing my Changsoo right?”

“Yes, I am and I am in love with him….” Jen sounded it very earnest and passionate and Mrs. Yoo was able to see that through her eyes.

“You know that Changsoo is gonna go back to his old ways right? You know he is just playing with you, Miss Park……” Even Mrs. Yoo wasn’t convinced by what she was saying, she was able to see that Changsoo really cares about her from what she observed back at the office.

“I trust Director Yoo, he is a good man. I think so many people misunderstand him because of his colorful past but he proved to me that he is romantic, sweet, professional, talented, loving and so much more……At first I was just infatuated with him because he is so handsome but the more I see him, the more I realize how much of a good man he is……He treats me with so much love, respect and care…” Jen said in a very earnest and sincere voice. Jen was hoping that she would be able to get her deep feelings across to his mother.

Changsoo’s mom felt bad because even though she didn’t believe in him just like most people around him, this girl was willing to believe in him and trust him even if he had so many girls in the past. Also, Changsoo’s mom was able to see genuine feelings and sincerity but she was gonna try a few more times before she gave up.

“Also, Changsoo’s dad has someone else in mind, Jang Yoonha….she is the youngest daughter of Taejin group…..My husband wants to merge with them and in order for him to do that we need Yoonha.”

“I don’t think that’s right. We are not living in the olden days when arranged marriage was necessary. There are better ways to merge if you so choose without getting the children involved.” Jen said with conviction. Jen really does feel that people should be able to choose whom they marry, that’s her philosophy when it comes to two people that love each other who want to spend the rest of their lives together.

“A lot of young people like you do feel that way which I understand but…….you are not after my son for his status and money right? Isn’t that what most girls are after when it comes to dating a rich guy so they could change their status in life?”

“ Mother…I mean…Mrs..Yoo…I don’t think it’s right for you to judge me that way…..I am not interested in that kind of stuff. I am with Changsoo ssi…I mean Director Yoo because I like him as a person. I’m not interested in his status, position, money and wealth. Besides, I am happy with what I have..I have my youth, my health, my family, Director Yoo and this job that gives me satisfaction so I don’t need to try to fulfill my happiness by trying to change my status by dating or even marry rich…”

Jen said a mouth full and Changsoo’s mom didn’t know how to defend herself from all this. She now knows fully that Jen is being serious and she really cares about her son so she decides to accept her. Mrs. Yoo gave into Jen’s charms but while she’s at she wanted to open up to Jen before she lets her go.

The two ladies were so focused on their conversation that they forgot to drink their coffee…

“Miss Park…I think we were so into talking that our drinks got cold….” Mrs Yoo was slowly trying to open up to her.

“I know right? Sorry…Mrs. Yoo……I didn’t mean to talk so much….Should I get you another drink so you can drink it while it’s still warm?”

“No dear…you don’t have to do that…..”

“Mother…you are so beautiful…did anybody tell you that?”

“Are you trying to butter me up?”

“No really…..if we went out there on the streets…people would think that you are my big sister cus you look so young…”

Changsoo’s mother really loves compliments like this. Jen didn’t know that this would work wonders with this lady. Now, Changsoo’s mom is completely in the palm of her hands and she didn’t even know it.

Changsoo’s mom tossed her hair back and said. “Oh dear….you really think so? How can you say that when you yourself have such a baby face…..???”

“Mo…I mean….Mrs. Yoo…you really do I am not joking…”

“You are such a sweet girl…..you can just call me mother if you want…and you can call Director Yoo, Changsoo ssi at work…I will allow it…just don’t say it in front of his brothers nor the chairman…….What I’m trying to say is…..I’m okay with you two…together…..” Changsoo’s mom completely fell for Jen’s charm and Jen was even surprised her charm really did work on her. Changsoo’s mom felt like it was time to go already.

“I should let you go, Changsoo might get worried…”

“Okay….Mother…” Jen said with an innocent smile.

Changsoo’s mother knew that Jen was in love, this reminded her of her past. She was a daughter of a middle class family that married rich, so she could kinda relate to Jen. The only reason why she was pushing Changsoo to marry Yoonha was because of her husband, it really wasn’t her idea in the first place but Mr Yoo’s idea.

“I’m gonna leave now…tell Changsoo that I’m gonna go home and you be good to him okay….?”

“Yes…mother….” Jen said sweetly but politely with a huge smile on her face. Jen couldn’t hide her happiness because his mother accepted her as his girl.

“Oh, I forgot to mention I have two daughters in laws and they don’t treat me well at all…you are not even close to being my daughter in law yet…. but you seem so respectful to me…..just wanted to let you know…..”

“Are you saying that you want me as your daughter in law already?”

“Now, now…let’s not get too ahead of yourself…….” For some reason Mrs Yoo, her tone of voice kinda reminded her of Changsoo. Jen couldn’t help but to smile.

Jen picked up her coffee that she hardly drank and Mrs Yoo did the same thing.

“Thanks for the coffee, even if I didn’t really drink it much..”

“It’s okay….I wasted mine too…..”

“I better get going, you should go back in, Changsoo might be waiting for you.” She was right. Changsoo was pacing back and forth at his office. He missed Jen already and he was hoping that she wasn’t being attacked by his mother in any way shape or form. He felt so bad that he couldn’t be there for his girl.

“Okay, Mother…hope to talk with you again….”

“Me too…bye now….” said Changsoo’s mom waving at her with a kind and gentle smile.

Jen went back up to the office in a good mood while Changsoo was pacing back and forth.

Jen was entering the office while humming and this confused Changsoo a bit.

“Why are you so happy? Are you crazy humming such a happy tune like that in a situation like this?”

“Oppa….you don’t have to be so stiff…..your mother likes me….she likes me a lot and she more or less is okay with us dating…she didn’t quite say it in so many words but it’s a more or less a yes…!”

“Really?! How did you do it?”

“I have my ways…..” Jen winked at her boyfriend.

Jen’s sincerity, her one of a kind charm, her generosity, her independent nature, her not being a gold digger, and her true love for Changsoo made his mother change her heart about this whole matter.

“Come here…” Changsoo said and this time Jen didn’t back out, she hugged him.

“Secretary Park, this is work…..you should be saying what you normally say to me……..this is work, we have to be professional…..isn’t that your famous line whenever I get touchy touchy with you at the office?”

“Today is an exception…I want to make today an exception…Changsoo oppa…”

Changsoo patted her on the head and kissed her gently and Jen gave it back to him by gently kissing him back.

“I am so glad that my mother approves of you, I was so worried that she was gonna do something to you … .I was pacing back and forth, biting my fingers, not knowing what to do … .I was so tempted to go out there and stop the stupid dialogue between you two ladies….

“Your mother is really nice…I like her….” Jen said with a smile.

Changsoo was relieved that they both like each other. Now his job is to win some brownie points with Jen’s family somehow.

The long work day was over and after Changsoo dropped off Jen at her house he rushed home. On his way home, he contacted Woomin…one of his close friends from elementary school.

Woomin was one of those goody goody friends he had back in elementary school along with Joongi in high school. But after high school a lot of his friends were club friends who were basically up to no good. Woomin barely came back from Canada to Korea. He was studying in Canada after his parents got divorced but he recently came back to Korea to start a business. Changsoo decided to give him a call so he could go to the club with them as Jiyi’s partner.

“Hello….Woomin…buddy…it’s been a long time…..how have you been?”

“Hey, Changsoo…good to hear from you…I am finally back…for good…..so how are ya?”

“I’m doing well….hey…I was wondering if you have time this Saturday…”

“This Saturday? What happens this Saturday?”

“Me and some of the people at work are gonna go clubbing but we need an extra person since we are going as a pair…..”

“Oh…..I am not really a clubbing type……you know me…..”

“I know…I am not anymore either…..but I’m doing someone a favor right now … .so can you please come?”

“Fine…okay…and I can’t believe that you are not a club goer anymore….”

“I know it’s hard to believe but….I am a different person now…. But you’ll see why when we meet on Saturday….”

“That’s a good thing…hahaha….”

“Come in front of the Yumin company building at 7:00pm. We are gonna have a quick dinner and head to this nice club that I used to go to nearby the company building.”

“Alright……I will look up the address of the company on the internet…Oh and I’m so excited to see you buddy, it’s been so long….”

“I know right? Well…..see you on Saturday……I will send you the info about dress code and all that via text … ..talk to you later ….” said Changsoo.

“Bye..” Said Woomin.

The two guys that haven’t seen each other in a while hung up the phone. Changsoo was very nervous about how things are gonna turn out at the club. He was excited to see his old friend that he hasn’t seen in awhile and also all the people he has been rather close with, including his girlfriend are gonna all have a weekend night out.

  1. I’m just gonna go for the 21 chapters………

I was gonna have 15 be the club scene with the three couples…….of course focusing on Jengie…..and I was gonna have Yoonghi and Jimin on the side interacting then move onto the flat scene with Jengie on the same chapter….I was just gonna make chapter 15 really long……..

  2. Sorry for the naming mess. LOL
TBH the secondary couples are a side effect of the story development, they were not originally planned so their screen time could be short.

  3. This means I have to make the story a lot longer…I was originally gonna to 20 chapters so if I have to do it this way then I might have to add an extra chapter cus my plan was to have chapter 16….with Jen moving out….Jen moving out scenes are important because this is where Jen’s father get to see that Changsoo is worth it….

And I was gonna do 17 and 18 where Changsoo goes on a business trip to the states and Changsoo’s brothers try to take Jen down……

and Chapters 19 and 20 was gonna be about wrapping it all up so if I go with how you want me to do it….

Chapter15 will be Jen and Changie at the club and flat

    Chapter 16…the new couples

Chapter 17 Jen moving out and Changsoo helping her and the father accepting Changsoo

Chapter 18 and 19 would be Changsoo going on a business trip to the states and his brothers trying to take Jen down.

Chapter 20 and 21 wrapping it all up….

  4. I got so confused because……Because Jimin…is Park Jimin from BTS who is Tae’s band member and a close buddy too…….

    Oh okay……Ah….I see…

But then the club scenes is very important to Jen and Changie though so they should be the main focus because it shows how the two are trying to resemble each other…

Oh by the way…this shipping of the new couples are really strange because Jimin is Park Jimin from BTS who is one of Tae’s Band member and buddy and for Yoongi….Yoonha and Joongi is weird too because there is a BTS member name Min Yoongi who is one of Tae’s band members besides Jimin……..So weird….a lot of people would be confused by this so at first I automatically thought of Min Yoongi and Park Jimin….oh btw, Min Yoongi is like my bias in BTS and I had a thing for him for awhile off and on…….but now I have zero feelings left for Min Yoongi though cus Park Hyungsik hahahaha…

Oh sorry, I got distracted…..And yes, talking about the new couples are important too…….

So should I divide it up to several parts like you said? Like….

    Chapter 15 part 1: Intro
Chapter 15 part 2:Jen and Changie (Night Club)
Chapter 15: Part 3: Yoonha and Joongi
Chapter 15: Part 4: Jiyi and Woomin
Chapter 15: Part 5: Jen and Changie (Flat)

  5. I would suggest:

    Chapter 15 – Jengie Club/Flat Sequence
    Chapter 16 – Yoonhgi-Jimin interactions

  6. Oh, yeah, I was so into properly name shipping them.
    Yoonha and Joongi = Yoonhgi
Ji Yi and Woomin = Jimin
I know Jimin is Tae’s band mate but whatever. LOL

  7. Yoohgi and Jimin?

You mean…Yoonha and Joongi? It looks like you were excited there for a few seconds typing their names? LOL…

So basically you are saying that the night club/flat scenes should be divided like….?

Chapter 15 part 1- The Club Sequence
Chapter 15 part 2- The Flat Sequence?

  8. It’s almost as if they are trying to become like the one that they love.

Jen wants to explore Changie’s past by going to the place he used to enjoy and frequent, while Changie is almost becoming like Jen where he is almost detesting the place…or places like this….

Remember back in the beginning of the fic…I mentioned that Jen hated going to bars and clubs? Hahaha….

So yea…chapter 15 is gonna be PRETTY INTERESTING on that front because Changsoo is gonna feel very uncomfortable…especially meeting people that he used to encounter with when he used to frequent there….

But Jen is gonna be excited because she hated these kinds of places but fascinated to see the world that used to be part of the one she loves…

  9. This is like almost warming up to the future office encounter lol…..

I wonder if Kitten Brina has told him anything yet even though she hasn’t physically met Jen yet…Hmmm…

  10. You are right…Changie’s mother did fall for Jen’s charms so she finally decided to accept her…However, thinking about marriage is too soon…..they have to get the approval of the father too and I am sure he has heard of rumors of Changsoo and Jen being together but no confirmation for him just yet…..He still thinks that there is still hope for Changsoo and Yoonha getting married….

  11. We were talking about this/discussing this a few days ago on Amino…Thank for the idea and I think because of this I am able to give other characters deeper psychology if u know what I mean…

  12. Well…I thank you for this…I thank for you helping me develop Yoonha’s character to some degree…You are the one who told me that I should have Yoona have difficulties having an actual relationsihp with Changsoo because of his father’s past and present misdeeds with women…..and also she doesn’t need to be a gold digger cus she is already rich…

  13. I know a lot has happened! Some parents would misunderstand that their kids want their own pad for other motives…which is to do naughty things hahaha….but when it comes to adult children they shouldn’t be too harsh on them because it’s natural to leave the nest after awhile….unless the children don’t want to for whatever reason….

    Yep sis name is Amy!

  14. I think that in order to have a clearer understanding of the characters’ internal struggles, the night clue sequences should be divided into two chapters. For one thing, all the drama of Jen and her boyfriend coming to grips with Changie’s playboy past. On the other, the interactions between Yoohgi and Jimin.

  15. During lunch the scene where Jen suggested they go to the club felt so compelling. It’s justified by wanting to cheer Ji Yi up, although Changie’s discomfort was noted. It will be challenging for Jengie to interact on that site.

  16. It was cute that Jen made an exception and allowed Changie to be affectionate in the office.

  17. The chit chat between Changie’s mom and Jen paid off. I can’t say that Mrs Yoo is already planning the marriage but at least she won’t resist the couple and will let them be.

  18. The inclusion of Yoonha’s character psychology was interesting. Maybe she will give up on acting like a drama queen.

  19. WOW. A lot happened in this chapter.
I was wondering what will be Jen’s dad thoughts on Jen moving out on her own. Some parents may assume their children want their on place to freely do the naughty stuff XD
So Jen’s sis name is Amy.
