Little Jen’s dad, Dr Park works at a pediatrician hospital that he owns near her elementary school. Dr Park is a hard worker and he is very good at what he does. Many parents love him and they love bringing their children to his office because he is a competent and trustworthy doctor who is also very good with children.
The dad finally got over what happened in the morning but he has no idea that the worse will come to haunt him.
“Welcome to Dr Park’s Pediatrician office…” said the receptionist.
“My child is ill…..she has some kind of heart complication….”
Dr Park is very capable because he is a general pediatrician but he also is part cardiologist. So Uee basically came to the right doctor, this is good for her but not for our Dr Park.
“Please fill out this form and we will call you in when the doctor is done with another patient…”
“Yes, thank you…” said Uee calmly.
Mrs Kim was worried for her daughter.Right Now she has no idea that this hospital is her crush’s hospital. Since she doesn’t know his full name, this is why she has no idea who Dr. Park Hyungsik the pediatrician is…..and she will be in for a rude awakening soon.
Julia was in a lot of pain so she was crying a lot and Uee tried to calm her down and as she was desperately waiting to see the doctor and the receptionist called her in to see him.
“Mrs. Kim, the doctor is ready to see you now…”
“Thank you…”
“You have the forms?”
“Yes…”
Uee filled out the form and handed it to the nurse and Dr Park was ready to see the child.
“Hello, Mrs Kim…..”
Shikkie had no idea that this mother was that mother……There are so many mothers with the last name Kim and so many little girls with the name Julia so he had no idea that this Mrs.Kim would be Uee.
The moment Shikkie looked up, he saw Uee and her crying child Julia just standing there shocked. Uee realized that the doctor who will be checking out her daughter is none other than her crush, Mr.Park.
“Hello…Mrs Kim. welcome to Dr Park’s pediatrician office.” Shikkie tried his best to keep his cool and try to be as professional as possible.
“Let’s check out your kid here Mrs.Kim…”
For some reason Julia stopped crying as soon as Dr Park started to talk to her.
“Are you hurting right here Julia?” Dr Park asked her in a very sweet and worried voice.
Julia just nodded with a smile. For some reason, Julia really liked the sound of his voice.
Uee couldn’t help but to feel attracted to Dr.Park in his white robe checking out her little girl.
“Let’s see how you are doing okay? Say, Ah for me…..there…good girl…”
Julia cooperated with Dr Park, it seemed like she was willing to listen to him but whenever her mom asked her to do something she wouldn’t even bat an eye.
Shikkie checked out the child and he discovered that she has been suffering from Kawasaki Disease since she was 4-5. This disease could lead to other complications as the child gets older but Uee has been neglecting her child for so long that she never bothered to know what was really going on with Julia.
“Mrs Kim…..Mrs.Kim…Mrs.Kim!”
Dr.Park had something to tell Uee about her child’s condition but she was so out of it daydreaming about Dr.Park that she wasn’t even listening to what he was trying to tell her.
“Yes? Oh sorry…I think I’m a little out of it….”
“Mrs.Kim…you have to really monitor your daughter’s health….it looks like she had a thing called the Kawasaki disease that a lot of little ones have between the ages 4-5.”
“What is Kawasaki disease? I never heard of it….”
“It’s a condition that causes inflammation in the walls of some blood vessels in the body.” Dr Park said while feeling bad about the situation.
Dr Park looked at Julia and felt bad that she had to go through this, he couldn’t help but to feel compassion for the little one.
Julia’s mother was too far gone to even listen to what Dr. Park was trying to say.
“Ma’am…..I need you to focus on listening to what I’m telling you…..your child needs a lot of support so you need to keep her in check and monitor her condition. Your child has been suffering some form of heart condition for a few years right?”
“Yes…she had it since she was 5…that’s when Julia’s father left me…” Uee was trying to pull a tactic to make Dr Park feel sorry for her to make him come close to her but it didn’t work. However it is true that her husband left when Julia was only five years old and also it’s true that the little girl has been suffering with this heart condition starting from the age of five as well.
“Well, Mrs Kim..there’s hope for you…I will prescribe some medicine and this will help her heart to be more at ease but you need to take her to a bigger hospital that can operate on her if at all necessary…..”
“Thank you doctor…Thank you so much!” Uee said while crying then she gave him a long hug and kissed him on the lips. Dr Park felt very uncomfortable about this. He froze up cus he just felt violated for what she just did to him………He hated this feeling….He wanted to tell her to get off of him but couldn’t since she is his patient’s mother. He just didn’t have a mean streak in his body and sometimes he hated himself for this.
“Mom..Mom…let’s go! We need to go!” said Julia. Julia pulled her mom off of Dr Park.
“Sorry doctor…sorry about my mom! Let’s go mommy!” Julia begged her mother to leave the doctor’s office already and just go home.
Uee bowed and left to go get the medicine for Julia at the local pharmacy.
Shikkie was so happy that she finally left. He needed to take a break and he went to the vending machine to get some cold water. He drank it and let out a deep sigh. He couldn’t help but to take his phone out so he could text his wife.
“I love you…Hyojoo…You are the only one for me…”
“Honey, are you alright? Did something happen?”
“I just wanted to express my feelings for you…..I want to do it everyday, you know me…”
Then Daddy Shikkie sent a text message to Lil Jen even though classes aren’t over for the little one yet.
“I love you my baby girl…..You are being a good girl listening to your teacher right? Sorry, I am messaging you while you are still in class but I wanted to tell you I love you…don’t text me back…I will go pick you up very soon…love you sweetheart.”
Jen heard the buzzing sound. Little Jen always puts her phone on vibration during class. She saw a text message from her dad but didn’t text him back just like he asked.
Hyojoo was confused as to why he sent such a text…..even though he is a normally very expressive guy so he would say the three magic words I love you a lot via text, over the phone and even in person but then this one just felt very random to her.
“Hm…what the heck is going on?” Hyojoo felt this weird hunch but didn’t know exactly what it was.
Dr Park was wiping off sweat from his forehead. He really hated this feeling of guilt when he didn’t even do anything wrong. He was too nice to tell her off but maybe he is starting to think that his problem is being too nice to people. He felt like he needed to learn to put his foot down when he needed to. He felt that the way Mrs Kim hugged him and kissed him was very inappropriate for a patient or patient’s guardian to do. He was wondering if he needs to be less friendly and set some boundaries cus of people like Uee Kim.
Some people take advantage of friendly people like him and just maybe the situations that he’s been experiencing lately can tell him to ease off on the friendliness.
He couldn’t wait to go pick up his little girl and see his wife later on tonight. He finally went back to his office after a short break and the nurses saw his pale face again.
“Dr Park … .Are you alright:?” One of the nurses asked him.
“Yeah…I’m good….I’m okay….”
Dr Park kept on getting children to see. His hospital is always busy because so many patients come in because of good word of mouth by the people that visited his office before. Dr Park’s pediatrics has been getting good reviews on the internet ever since it opened up. Shikkie is a brilliant doctor and also he is very good with children and is very professional but caring to the guardians of his little patients.
Shikkie was so busy that he was able to kill time by seeing a bunch of patients. He was becoming anxious about what happened today. He wanted to see his daughter and wife so badly because of everything that went on earlier today.
Finally it was that time. The school bell rang and Jen just got out of school. While she was waiting for her dad she heard a noise. She wasn’t sure what it was but there was a sound coming from the little bushes of trees near the front of the school.
“MEOW!”
It was a little kitten. Lil Jen takes after her love for animals from both of her parents. Both Shikkie and Hyojoo love animals.
“Awwwww…It’s a little Kitten!” said Little Jen.
Little Jen saw a name tag saying, Little Brina on it. Jen was wondering if it’s a stray.
“How can they abandon such a cute little kitty! Aww come here….come to Little Jen…I will take care of you…and I’m gonna take you home…” Jen was petting the kitty hoping that her mom and dad would let her keep it.
“Oh it’s time to go!” Shikkie was so excited that it’s time to pick up his kid.
The nurses and all the other people working under him were confused as to why their Dr Park was acting so strangely. Some nurses were shaking their heads because of him acting this way.
“I’m gonna go now, Nurse Lee, and Nurse Jang…….I have to go pick up my kid … .tell Dr Kim to work hard for me okay?”
Shikkie didn’t even give the people working with him a chance to answer him. He practically ran to his SUV to pick up his kid. Jen was still waiting for his dad and she was petting Kitten Brina. Kitten Brina seemed like a very nice kitty and she loved the way Lil Jen petted her although that will change once she meets Dr Park, Little Jen’s handsome and sweet daddy.
As Jen was petting Kitten Brina, she saw her dad coming. She was so happy to see her daddy, she is always so happy to see him. Also, she wanted to ask him if she could keep this little Kitten that she found.
“Daddy!”
“Oh Sweetie!”
Daddy Shikkie lifted her up and gave her a little twirl.
“How’s my baby girl doing? Were you waiting for a long time?”
“No daddy, I wasn’t waiting that long.”
Kitten Brina was observing Daddy Shikkie.She kept on staring at him as if he was someone familiar or something.
“Who is this furry friend? Did you find it?”
“Yeah … .she was hiding in the little bushes of trees over there …I felt bad so I Picked it up and started petting it…She is really sweet…..I think it’s a stray.” Jen looked said when she was thinking about the fact that the cat was abandoned by someone.
“Let me see her….” Shikkie really loved animals. So does Mama Hyojoo. Daddy petted Kitten Brina while holding her close to his chest and she was loving it even more than when Little Jen was petting her earlier. The kitten was purring. The way it was purring, it basically means that he really loves this human and wants to make it hers.
“Meow” Kitten Brina softly meowed and purred while Shikkie was petting her.
“Daddy I think she really likes you…I mean, she likes me too but I think she likes you even more…I’m so jealous….but anyways…Can we adopt her?”
“Sure why not? Your mom likes animals and obviously I do too..” Daddy started giggling while pinching Jen’s little cheeks.
“Let’s go Jen…..you can hold her for now….maybe we should stop by the pet store and buy some stuff for Kitten Brina…”
“Okay, daddy…”
“We should also stop by the grocery store and pick up some instant food to make so we won’t have to order from the food app.”
“That’s a good idea daddy….” Jen said cheerfully.
Jen was petting Kitten Brina as they were heading to the pet store. They got everything they needed for Kitten Brina at the pet store then they stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few items for dinner before heading home.
Finally, the three got home and Hyojoo was still working her butt off with Jina Kim, her colleague.
“Finally! We are home!” said Shikkie. He had such a long day that he just jumped on the couch and Kitten Brina jumped right on top of him, purring. Shikkie started to pet it and he felt so soothed by the little kitten.
“Baby, do you think you can put the frozen spicy rice cakes we got from the store into the microwave?”
“Okay, daddy! I will!” Little Jen was very helpful around the house. She put the spicy rice cake in the microwave and just followed the instructions. Spicy rice cake is one of Shikkie’s favorite foods and as of late it’s becoming one of Jen’s favorites as well.
Shikkie was so tired that he fell asleep with Kitten Brina on top of him for several minutes.
“Daddy! Wake up! Food is ready!”
“Oh thank you honey…let’s eat….”
“But dad…we gotta feed Brina too…..”
“Oh yea true…”
Shikkie got the new bowl that they bought for the kitten and poured some kitty food in there. Also he got Jen to get the water bowl that they bought earlier at the pet store and fill it up with water for her.
“Here..Brina…eat to your heart’s content.” said Shikkie
“Here Brina…..here’s your water…” said Jen.
Kitten Brina was eating her food and drinking her water that Daddy Shikkie and Lil Jen provided for her. Kitten Brina cannot talk human language but she was so happy to be adopted by this family and she was showing that through her behavior.
Both Shikkie and Jen ate their spicy rice cake and drank some water too cus they got the extra spicy kind. Shikkie was able to handle it but Lil Jen was still getting used to the extra spicy kind.
Hyojoo finally got off work and was on her way home. On her way home she was listening to some radio program about mothers that are troubled. She was listening to the DJ and some psychologist talking about mothers who walk out on their kids and mothers that cheat on their husbands. The population of these mothers are small thankfully but they have been affecting modern society which have been making other normal parents worried about their own children and family.
Hyojoo was deep in thought and this program kinda made her worried again. She was worried about her husband and her own family. She wanted to be home already and be with her family. She didn’t want to be living at work too much because her family comes first more than anything. What’s the reason for her working so hard like this? It’s for her family in the end and Shikkie is doing the same thing….it’s all in the name of family. However, what is the use for working so much but can’t even protect your own family?
Hyojoo finally came home and was surprised to see a tired man on the couch with a little kitten on top of him while Little Jen was doing the dishes.
“Hey little sweetie? You are doing the dishes today? You are such a helpful child….. Your dad looks really tired….is that why you are helping out?”
“Oh, hi mom! Yeah…I think daddy had a long day … .I don’t know why he looks so tired and out of it…Oh and mom…I’m a big girl so I don’t mind helping around the house…hehehe..” Mama Hyojoo gave Lil Jen a hug because she felt lucky to have a little daughter like Jen who behaves well.
“Did your dad tell you what happened at work today?”
“No … .he has been acting weird all day today though…..except for when we were petting Kitten Brina together…he seemed kind of out of it but don’t know why mom….” Jen said worriedly.
“Oh, you found a kitten, sweetie?”
“Yeah … .I think she’s a stray cat or an abandoned kitty but I found her at school in some little bushes of a trees…dad said we can keep her…he said that you like animals…Can we keep Brina, mommy?”
“Of course, animals are always welcome….Did you know that mommy wanted to be a veterinarian when she was a little girl?”
“Really, mommy? Yay! I’m so happy mom!” Jen gave her mom a giant hug cus she is so happy that mom let her keep kitten Brina.
“Yeah…sweetie…oh….let’s wake up daddy.”
“Honey….wake up……” Hyoojoo said while patting him on the shoulder.
“Daddy fell asleep right after we ate … .He never has done that so that’s why I think daddy is acting weird…and unusual.”
“Oh babe…you’re home….I’m so glad…..you are home….sorry I guess I was tired….I fell asleep right after we ate.”
Hyojoo decided to wash Jen up before changing into her PJS. Jen was all washed up and ready to go to bed…Hyojoo thought it might not be such a good idea for daddy to tuck her in and read her a bedtime story tonight.
“Do you think we can skip bedtime story tonight? Mommy has to talk to daddy tonight…It’s one of those important talks…”
“That’s fine, I’m a big girl…I don’t need bedtime stories everyday.”
“You can listen to some children’s audiobooks on your tablet, okay?”
“Alright mom … .good nite mom…goodnight dad.”
“Goodnight sweetie.” Both her mom and dad said at the same time.
Jen walked over to the bedroom and this time she tucked herself in, like a big girl.
Daddy Shikkie and Mama Hyojoo went into their room. They were properly dressed for bed. As they were trying to have an important conversation about something, Kitten Brina came and laid between them on their bed.
“Honey……Jen was saying that you’ve been acting weird all day…is there something you haven’t been telling me….”
Shikkie was deep in thought, he didn’t want to hide anything from his wife…….
“You know I did have a rough day…..and I don’t know how to say this…….You know I love you right? And I would never cheat on you right? You know I have been popular with women all throughout school and even when we met you saw that all the women were checking me out but guess what I didn’t even bat an eye cus you are the only one for me……”
“What are you trying to say?”
“Most women are able to get that I’m not interested in them, I’m only in love with one woman but there’s a woman that doesn’t take a no for an answer….”
Hyojoo was able to put two and two together……..and she felt like she had to take the matters into her own hands.
