Changsoo was checking out Jen while she was making some copies for him and Jen was checking him out with the corner of her eye but she got caught. However, she quickly managed to turn away and Changsoo found this adorable. Jen’s heart was racing and so was Changsoo’s heart.
Jen was trying her best to just focus on her job, she wanted to prove to Chairman Yoo that he promoted her for a reason. Changsoo also tried his best to focus on his work but he had such a hard time doing so. Jen was actually succeeding to focus on her duties while Changsoo wasn’t.
Changsoo couldn’t wait for tonight. He had a lot of girls in the past but never had an experience wooing just one girl like this before but he was really enjoying this.
Changsoo was taking short glances at Jen. He actually wanted to stare at her but he knew that would get him in trouble. Jen suppressed herself too just as much as Changsoo so she had the urge to stare at him but took quick peeks when he wasn’t looking instead.
“Director Yoo, here are the documents that you needed the copies of.”
Jen took a glance at Changsoo as she was handing over the papers.
“Thank you Jen….” Changsoo said with a smile. As Changsoo took the papers from Jen their fingers accidentally touched each other’s.
“Oh sorry, Jen…”
“No, it’s not your fault, Director Yoo….”
Jen went back to her seat, still kinda nervous around her new boss. Jen was checking out the time and it was already 4:00pm.
Jen managed to keep herself busy without too much trouble. Changsoo tried his best to behave properly so he won’t get Jen into trouble or anything.
Meanwhile, many people returned Joongi’s text messages saying that they were able to make it to the so-called Company Dinner but this company dinner thing is more like a Welcoming/Congrats party for Jen.
Joongi texted Changsoo saying that they should all meet in front of the company building.
“Changsoo…let’s all meet in front of the company building at 5:00pm, okay my friend?”
“Alright…I will, I mean we’ll see you there…” Changsoo said excitedly.
It was finally that time….
“Jen it’s 5:00 pm already, you got the text right? We are supposed to meet everyone in front of the company building…” Changsoo said with a derpy smile.
Jen has no idea that this night is really for her. Jen thinks that it’s just an ordinary company dinner but it’s a night for her which she doesn’t know yet.
“Oh yea, I did … .I got Deputy Choi’s texts a while ago.” Jen said gently.
Jen was being so cute that Changsoo just wanted to hug her but he knew he had to hold off a little while longer.
“Okay, let’s go Jen.” said Changsoo.
Changsoo let Jen go out first like a gentleman. Jen was able to smell Changsoo’s cologne and it was driving her wild inside but she was trying so hard to suppress her desires for him.
Everyone finally met in front of the company building and they all decided to go to a KOREAN BBQ restaurant near the company building so they all walked over there.
It was summertime but it was still a little bit chilly after 5:00pm. Changsoo noticed that Jen looked cold so he offered her his jacket.
“Jen, you look kinda cold…you want my jacket?” Changsoo asked in his charming and friendly voice.
“No, I’m fine Changsoo, thanks…” Jen answered cutely.
All the people that got invited to this get together noticed that Jen and Changsoo looked good together.
Everyone walked over to the restaurant and they were able to get a large table that seated all the people that came.
“Ma’am! Give us several plates of marinated beef and pork belly to start with!” Changsoo said.
“Yes, sir…coming right up….” said the waitress.
“You look hungry Jen…..don’t worry the food should arrive soon…..so please be patient.” Changsoo said sweetly.
“Oh…it seems like you care about Jen so much…” said Jiyi. Then Jiyi looked at Joongi, hoping that he would treat her that way, the way Changsoo is treating Jen.
Then Changsoo gave Joongi the eye and Joongi caught on. He really didn’t want to be sweet to Jiyi but he wanted to at least be polite to her. The person that he really wanted to be sweet to is Yoonha and she is not available at the moment.
“You hungry Jiyi?”
“Yeah…kinda…” Jiyi said while licking her metal chopsticks nervously.
“Oh, the food is here!” Changsoo said excitedly. Changsoo made sure that all the different types of meat were on the grill.
“Hey, Joongi, you should grill the meat for me while I make sure that all the meat is on the grill,” said Changsoo. Some of the meat was all cooked and Changsoo made sure that Jen got them first.
“Here you go Jen, eat to your heart’s content.” After the meat was all grilled up Changsoo put the meat on top of Jen’s bowl of rice.
“Oh…you should eat the first batch of meat…” Jen said softly.
“Oh no…..I want you to have it first….” Changsoo smiled.
This was Changsoo’s way of flirting with Jen. Joongi noticed that Changsoo’s flirting skills were certainly different than before and he is so glad that he brought up this idea of a so-called company get together.
“Open your mouth Jen, say Ah..” said Changsoo.
“You don’t have to feed me, Changsoo….I can do it myself ya know…” Jen said feeling embarrassed.
Everybody thought that Changsoo was being a little too much and it was so obvious that he liked Jen. Jiyi was jealous not because Changsoo is sweet to Jen but she was jealous that Joongi wasn’t being sweet to her like that.
“Joongi, can you feed me too?”
“Oh…okay…Say ah…” Joongi really didn’t want to do this but he did it anyway because he felt bad for her.
“Should we order some soju?” asked Changsoo and everybody said yes.
“We can’t eat without any alcohol, the meat will taste so much better with booze,” said one of the employees.
“I agree…” said Changsoo with a light grin.
“Ma’am! Can we get five bottles of soju here!”
“Yes! Coming right up sir!”
Changsoo kept on looking at Jen but he wasn’t staring at her or anything and Jen did the same. She kept on looking at him with the corner of her eye thinking that she’s not gonna get caught.
“I saw you looking at me Jen…..I guess I’m that good looking….” Changsoo smiled at her teasingly.
Jen was blushing uncontrollably and all the people that came to the get together saw that.
“It looks like Jen is in love!” some girl said and Jiyi nodded by agreeing with that employee.
“She is! Just look at her! She is blushing so bad.” Jiyi teased Jen. While Jiyi was teasing Jen she kept on glancing at Joongi with every chance she got. Joongi knew that Jiyi liked her although he didn’t feel the same way. However, Joongi was glad that he made this gathering happen because he felt like Jen and Changsoo will finally come together after a lot of push and pull.
Jen just didn’t know what to do..She put her head down out of embarrassment, she hid her face with both of her hands…..She was so embarrassed that she had no idea that Changsoo was patting her head.
The alcoholic beverages that Changsoo ordered were brought by the waitress.
“Jen, you can drink but not too much okay?” Changsoo poured her a drink but told her that she shouldn’t drink too much. But she did not listen and drank a lot anyway. Her alcohol tolerance is fairly high so it didn’t phase her too much.
Jen’s face was already blushing before drinking but the drinks made her face even more red.
Jen loved to eat and once she had some drinks she was eating like crazy and everyone was shocked because she didn’t seem like the type that would eat a lot.
Changsoo thought it was cute that she wasn’t self conscious about food because of her image. He encouraged her to eat to her heart’s content, he just didn’t want her to drink too much though.
“There’s more Jen…tonight is your night so eat as much as you want!” Changsoo said while putting the meat on her rice she hasn’t even finished.
“Thanks,Changie…but wait…my night? Why is tonight my night?”
“Huh? Changie? You already have a pet name for me?”
“It’s cus I felt like it….” Said Jen without further explanation.
Changsoo giggled and Jen was onto him, still wondering about why tonight is her night….
“Well, Joongi and I set this gathering up because we never had a welcoming party for you when you first came as an intern and now you are promoted as my personal secretary…” Changsoo winked and all the girls were saying, “AWWWWW…GOOSBUMPS!” All the female employees were rubbing their arms because Changsoo was just being so cheesy with Jen. Also some of the girls were jealous cus a lot of them had crushes on Changsoo before Jen came along.
Changsoo was even happier now that she’s opened up to him a little to even give him a weird pet name.
Some time has passed by since they came to eat at this delicious meat place and it seemed like everyone was ready for the highlight of the night….KARAOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“I think we have been here for awhile now….how about we get moving? Asked Changsoo.
“Sounds like a good idea!” Everyone shouted in unison.
Finally everyone was on the move, heading towards the karaoke place.
Jen was in a good mood, she decided to just accept the way she feels instead of suppressing it.
Jen and Changsoo were walking next to each other side by side. Jen wished that Changsoo could just hold her hand but her wish came true. Changsoo gently grabbed her hand.
“Don’t get the wrong idea…I am just helping you balance yourself because you looked like you were gonna fall…that’s what happens when you drink too much girl…!”
Jen couldn’t help but to giggle because she thought he could just be upfront with her but either way she thought that him making excuses to hold her hand was cute though.
Jen and Changsoo still had their hands together all the way to the karaoke place.
Jiyi saw Jen and Changsoo holding hands and she wanted to do the same with Joongi. Joongi was walking with other co-workers and just thinking of Yoonha. Joongi really wished that Yoonha was here with them and holding his hand too.
Jiyi made up her mind to go over to Joongi and try to hold his hand but he kept on turning her down but in a polite manner.
“Jiyi, you are a nice girl but I don’t think this is cool…..” Joongi didn’t want to hurt her feelings but tried his best to turn her down politely …
“Just to let you know, I like someone else!”
Jiyi didn’t really know that Joongi had a thing for someone else. This completely ruined the mood for Jiyi but she decided to be a good sport for Jen cus she really likes her even though she is kinda jealous of her.
Meanwhile, they finally got to the Karaoke place and Changsoo thought it would be a good idea to order some drinks and snacks to go along with it.
“I’m gonna go and order some drinks and snacks,” said Changsoo.
“Do you want any particular drinks or snacks Jen?” Changsoo asked sweetly.
“I will drink and eat whatever you order.” Jen smiled.
“I will be back.” Changsoo said.
Changsoo went over to the front desk to buy the hours for the karaoke, then ordered drinks and snacks while everyone was heading over to the room they were assigned to.
“Wow, this room is big!” Jiyi said, completely forgetting about her sour mood from earlier.
“I know right?” Jen agreed with Jiyi. Jen loves karaoke and singing. Both Jen and Changsoo have something in common which they both don’t know yet. Jen loves music and singing, and so does Changsoo. They will be both in for a pleasant surprise.
Everyone was looking at the songbook to choose a song to sing. Jen happened to be sitting next to Changsoo again. Jen was in a good mood….She was a little tipsy and a little buzzed. Jiyi sat next to Joongi, he was feeling slightly uncomfortable but decided to bear it for Jen and Changsoo’s sake.
Changsoo and Jiyi both suggested that Jen go first because this night is all about her.
“Jen, I think you should go first, girl…” said Jiyi.
“You sure?” Jen asked shyly.
“Jen…come on…….sweetie…you should go first…….tonight is all about you girlie…” said Changsoo.
Jen picked a song called Every time we touch by Cascada.
Jen got up and everybody cheered. Jen was a little nervous trying to sing in front of everyone, especially Changsoo.
The fast paced dance music intro started to play and everyone was drinking and cheering, making the woot woot noises.

The song is so fast paced that everyone was cheering and chanting but Changsoo was staring at her while she was singing the song. Even though it was a fast paced song Jen sang the song without trouble and showed all of her emotions while having her eyes closed. Changsoo was amazed because he had a thing for girls that can sing. Majority of the girls that he’s been with could not sing for shit but this girl Jen had a beautiful voice so he was mesmerized once again.

Jen gave it her all while singing this song. She was able to follow the beat and was able to express her emotions for Changsoo through this song and he was able to feel it. He kept on staring at her, gazing at her closed eyes and everyone witnessed as they were chanting and cheering.
Jen was done with the song and everyone cheered for her.
“WOOOO JEN! YOU DID SO GOOD!” All the employees said.
“Wow, Jen you can sing!” Both Jiyi and Joongi said.
Jen came and sat back down embarrassed by all the compliments. Changsoo whispered in her ears.
“You did well!”
Jen was embarrassed and tried to keep her cool but she had a hard time so she was touching his arms a lot. Jen felt bad but she really had to go to the bathroom while it was other people’s turn to sing.
Jiyi and another co-worker were singing a fast tempo Kpop song. They were singing some Kpop girl group song that Jen liked as well but she had to use the bathroom.
“Excuse me…I’ll be back….”
“Where are you going?” Changsoo asked worriedly.
“Restroom.” Jen whispered.
“Do you want me to go with you?” Changsoo asked.
“No, it’s okay…I’m a big girl….I can go by myself…be back…”
Jen went to the bathroom and came back. It was Joongi singing and he was surprisingly good as well. Everybody was cheering for him, especially Jiyi. Jiyi was all googly eyed and was waving her hands and cheering him on. Meanwhile, Jen was more tipsy than what she thought so she accidentally sat on Changsoo’s lap.
“Oh sorry…..Director Yoo….I didn’t—-”
“No, just sit…” Changsoo said in a demanding voice.
Changsoo patted Jen on the head and he was also playing with her hair. She didn’t do anything except she was flinching a little cus it felt so good.
“You like it Jen?” Changsoo asked, whispering to her quietly in a very flirtatious voice.
Jen nodded shyly. And by her body language, Changsoo knew that he broke the barrier so he was grinning knowing that she is almost his…although not quite.
Changsoo kept on patting her head, a lot of the people that came to the get together got a chance to sing but everyone realized that Changsoo didn’t get his turn yet.
“Changsoo you should sing, man!” said Joongi.
Some people know that Changsoo is quite the singer and Jen will be finding this out soon.
“Changsoo, you haven’t sung yet huh?” Jen asked.
Changsoo was acting all shy and everyone was like.
“Director … .please sing for us…please…
Jen and Jiyi grabbed onto Changsoo’s arm and dragged him up to the stage.
“Okay, okay…I will sing…” Changsoo said while calming everyone down.
Changsoo decides to sing a song by Park Hyoshin…one of his older songs.
Changsoo had a beautiful voice and Jen’s heart started to beat faster and louder. Changsoo had his eyes closed while singing but he was still able to see that Jen was staring at him. He was singing as if he was singing or rather serenading to her. Changsoo was singing with all his heart and soul and Jen was able to feel it.
Once Changsoo was done singing, Jen just couldn’t stop clapping. She thought he could sing just as good as her celeb crush PHS and on top of that they look similar yet he is into her, so close. Jen couldn’t say no after this. She knew it was all over while the fortress she had built will be crumbling down soon.
“ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE” everyone cheered as if he was some super star but Changsoo told him that he didn’t feel like doing an encore.
“Awwwwwww……you were so good…want to hear you more!” The female employees said.
“Doesn’t he look like Park Hyungsik?” some girl employee said.
Jiyi looked and observed director Yoo and said, “Yeah…he kinda does….”
“Come on, stop embarrassing me….” Changsoo yelled out of embarrassment.
Jen took a little peak to confirm something and realized that he does look like PHS….and she started to giggle.
“What’s so funny?” Changsoo asked.
“Oh nothing…” Jen said while giggling cutely.
“I think we are your fans now, Director Yoo!” All the girls said even the guys were complimenting him.
Changsoo was doing a hand gesture saying that he is not talented at all to remain humble.
Some employees looked at the time and realized that it was getting really late. Joongi looked at the time and thought maybe they should all go home now.
“Thanks for coming to Jen’s welcoming/congrats party!” Joongi said. He was very pleased because he was able to see that Jen and Changsoo were getting along.
“It’s time to go…it’s getting late, don’t you think?”
Everyone said in unison
“YEAH!”
All the employees said, “Welcome to our company Jen and Congrats Jen for your promotion!” Then they all gave Jen a hug and started heading home by uber and taxi since they drank.
Jiyi and Joongi live nearby so Joongi decided to be nice enough to take her home via taxi.
“I think I’m gonna see Jiyi home…..” When Joongi said this Jiyi was smiling cus she loves being near him just like Jen loves being around Changsoo.
“Be safe, Jen…” said Jiyi.
“Thanks Jiyi.” said Jen.
“Thank you for doing all this for me…Deputy Choi—I mean Joongi.”
“No problem…I’m glad you had a lot of fun…” Joongi smiled.
Jiyi and Joongi headed home together while only the two were left.
Jen and Changsoo started to stare at each other.
“We should get going too….Let me take you home….” Changsoo said patting her head again and Jen showed no signs of resistance and Changsoo was pleased.
“Are we taking an uber home? Or a taxi?” Jen asked curiously.
“We are gonna take a taxi home…Oh speaking of which there is one…We got lucky! Get on!” Changsoo said, grabbing her hand and safely putting her inside of the taxi.
Changsoo asked Jen to give her address to the taxi driver which she did and he drove to her house safe and sound.
Jen and Changsoo got out of the taxi safely. The streetlight was lit pretty bright. Jen didn’t live in a poor neighborhood, she lived in a middle class neighborhood so the streets were pretty lit but Changsoo still managed to tease Jen.
“I think you would always need me to guide you, this neighborhood is dangerous, Jen.”
“No, it isn’t this is not a poor neighborhood ya know..”
“I know, I know…..just teasing you….”
Changsoo found Jen’s pout really adorable, he wanted to kiss her right now but wanted to save it for later.
“I think you are more dangerous than this neighborhood.” Jen said mockingly.
“You are silly,,,” Changsoo said.
“This is my humble abode … .it’s not a castle like your place probably….” said Jen sarcastically.
Changsoo didn’t care about the slight class difference since he is too far gone to think about any of those things.
“Oh we are here already…” Changsoo said because he didn’t want to separate from her just yet.
Jen didn’t want to separate from him either…..but something weird was about to come. They both felt the air of connection.
“I think you are really pretty, smart, talented…and you sing really good too….” said Changsoo…
“Oh and what else…”
“You are rich, handsome, sweet, smart,,,sexy … .and you sing really really really well…too…” said Jen smiling.
Changsoo patted her head again and they were just staring at each other……and Changsoo took a step and leaned closer and closer to her. He stopped patting her head but his hands went onto her cheeks instead…..Jen closed her eyes thinking that he would kiss her but he jokingly gave her a flick on the forehead.
“What?! No fair!” Jen pouted, pretending to be angry like a little child.
Changsoo found this behavior to be so cute that he just held her … .and she was finally in his arms and the barricade, barrier, the iron clad wall and the giant fortress that she built for him crumbled down and melted like snow. He started with a gentle embrace and held her tight. Jen didn’t mind either. He put his arms around Jen’s waist and Jen tiptoed and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I like you a lot Jen…I did ever since I saw you walking in through that door….”
“Really?”
“Yeah, really!”
“Honestly, I felt the same way…I didn’t want to come off as one of those cheap girls so I was playing hard to get but I liked you the moment I saw you too…” Jen said softly.
“Oh and You just destroyed my fortress…” Jen said while her voice was kinda cracking.
Changsoo tickled Jen a little then he took a step to let her know that it’s coming. Jen knew that this time it was for reals too. He patted her head with one hand and held her face with the other hand then he leaned in to kiss her. The kiss was at first gentle and it led to a passionate french kiss.
Jen’s mom wasn’t trying to peek but she saw everything and she ran over to tell Jen’s sister about it who was in the other room.
Jen had no idea that her mom saw everything. But right now she was sad that they are gonna be separated for now……
“I had a good time…” Changsoo said while smiling.
“Me too…..and thanks Changsoo for everything…” Jen said, giving him a big smile.
Changsoo gave Jen a peck on the cheeks and kept on waving not wanting to part but he disappeared. Jen was kinda sad that they had to part for now but the cool thing is she’ll see him at work and now they share the same office space so even better.
