AT CHANGSOO’S OFFICE……

Changsoo realized a lot today. The concert made him realize what he’s been missing. He thought he had the life when he was going to clubs and bars, hooking up with numerous women that he’s never gonna see again but the kind of life he lived up to this point was meaningless. However, today he was able to feel the energy of those fangirls cheering for an artist and that made him think about the way he’s been living his life.

 Changsoo used to think that girls that are into celebrities, were the stupidest people  in the world but now he’s able to understand where they are coming from. Liking someone with all your devotion is something he can finally respect now because  he feels that way for a certain someone. Changsoo would have never understood this during his womanizing period.

Changsoo missed Jen a lot but didn’t want to come on too strong so he did not take drastic measures. Also, he has something saved up to show Jen but he had to wait another week for it which drove him crazy. Changsoo was sitting at his desk with his hand on his forehead breathing deeply and all the things that he had done passed by like a film. Changsoo decided to drive home to get some rest for the night.

After the fan meeting, Jiyi went home which is the opposite direction from Jen’s house and Jen stopped by one of the coffee shops near her job. Jen decided to call Joongi, she felt like she was ready to come clean about something.

AT THE COFFEE SHOP

“Hey, Deputy Choi…sorry if I’m calling you while you are off duty … .do you think you can come out to the coffee shop near the office? You know which one it is right?”

“Oh hi Jen….did you have a nice time at the fan meeting? Why aren’t you going home?” 

“I really had a great time but … .I need someone to talk to right now about something and I feel like you are the only one I could open up to about this…..can you come out real quick?”

“Of course…..I will be there in a bit…” Joongi was a very nice boss to Jen. He is almost like a friend to her in some ways. Jen and Joongi got along well because they both want to climb up the corporate ladder and they are both from a decent middle class family.

Joongi was finally at the coffee shop they were supposed to meet at.

“Oh hi Deputy Choi!”

“Oh, Hi Jen! Like I said, just call me Joongi outside of work…”

“Can I?”

“Yeah of course…”

“Do you want me to order you a drink?”

“No, that’s fine…..So, what is it that you want to tell me?”

“Oh…..I have something to confess….I’m sure you have noticed by now but I like Changsoo….”

“I already knew……” Joongi smiled.

“Please don’t tell him yet…….”

“I’m surprised that you didn’t go home after the fan meeting…..I thought you would be home by now…since fan meetings could take a lot out of you…”

“How do you know that..Dep…I mean, Joongi?”

“I have little cousins that love idol groups and I’ve been dragged to those silly things before…”

“Oh…” Jen started to laugh….

“Did something happen at the fan meeting or during it or even afterwards?”

“No…The fan meeting went well and I got to meet my Celeb crush that I liked for 3 years but I realized something today……..”

“And what is that?”

“I realized that I’m not gonna be the one and only girl to him…..but….he could be….ya know….” Jen looked happy that she got to meet her long time celeb crush but she had the sadness in her eyes….

“So, you like Changsoo?”

“Yes,,,,”

“But why can’t you just tell him?”

“I don’t want to come across as someone cheap…..”

Joongi wanted to spill the beans already. He wanted to tell Jen that Changsoo feels the same way about her but he didn’t want to ruin that moment of discovery. He wanted to save that beautiful moment for next week for the two of them.

“You are certainly not one of those girls that Changsoo used to date…..He had so many girls just come and go that I couldn’t keep track of…..I had a hard time witnessing that……”

“How often did he change partners?”

“Hmmm…..like every week and he had the new flavor of the week too…..” Joongi started to giggle.

“Oh…..” Jen’s face turned red for some reason.

“And I have another favor to ask you, Deputy Choi….”

“What is it Jen?”

“Can I have Changsoo’s phone number? I want to thank him for today…..”

“Oh….he did something for you earlier?”

“Yeah,,,,he was there at the fan meeting with us and he made sure that I was able to stand my ground in front of my long time celeb crush and he even used his influence to buy me and Jiyi some PHS merch….The line was long and we weren’t able to get them but he made sure that we were taken care of….”

“You really like him a lot don’t you?”

“Yes…so can I have his phone number?”

“Yes……I will give it to you….”

Joongi punched Changsoo’s phone number into Jen’s phone.

“Here, that’s his number, you can save his number however you like…” Joongi giggled again.

“Thank you Joongi…..you are such a cool boss…..and I’m so glad you are Changsoo’s friend.” 

“You call him Changsoo now?”

“Well, I try not to but it comes out that way sometimes…..”

Jen felt bad for taking too much of Joongi’s time.

“I will let you go now, Deputy Choi … .thanks for helping me out … .be safe on your way home….” said Jen with a friendly smile.

“Okay, you too Jen…..make sure to text him tonight…” Joongi gave Jen a friendly wink.

“I sure will..” Jen smiled very big, showing her pearly whites.

AT JEN’S HOUSE

“Mom, dad, sis…I’m home!”

“Welcome home my lil daughter.” said Jen’s mom giving her a hug. 

The dad came over to Jen and hugged her as well. 

“How is my little girl doing tonight? Why are you home so late?”

“Jen went to the fan meeting of PHS tonight, dad….” Jen’s sister backed her up.

Jen looked kinda tired because she had a long day and so she wanted to wash up and go to bed already.

“How did the fanmeeting go?”

“It went so goood sis!”

“Were there a lot of people? Did you get to meet PHS?”

“Yup, there were so many people and PHS was such a gentleman but for some reason he was paying attention to me more than Jiyi when we were backstage…..”

“Oh…it’s because you are such an adorable girl, my baby sis!”

Jen gave her sis a hug.

“Sis, I am so tired….I think I’m gonna wash up and go to bed…thanks for the ticket, you are such a great sis!”

“Oh no problem sis, anytime….”

Jen hugged all of her family members and went upstairs to wash up so she can get ready for bed.

Jen got a nice shower and she felt so refreshed after having such a long day. She was in her nice comfy PJs and laid on her bed with her phone right next to her. Jen went to her contact list on her phone then looked for the phone number that Joongi punched in for her. She wanted to give it a silly name for Changsoo’s phone number.

“How about…..My Changie…” Jen started giggling.

It’s funny how she was thinking of Changsoo instead of PHS. 

However, she was happy that she went to the fanmeeting. She could still hear all the chanting of the fans, his beautiful singing voice, his body touching hers when he gave her a hug, the fancy lighting and all those things were still vivid in her mind. However, her heart was beating for Changsoo.

She got out of bed and took out the PHS merch that Changsoo got for her and Jiyi and she started to let out a small but shy giggle. 

Jen was debating whether she should text Changsoo or not but she decided to bite the bullet and do it.

“I wish I had a photo of him…..” Jen said while looking at the PHS photo on her phone wallpaper. 

“Hi, Changsoo…it’s me Jen….I got your phone number from Deputy Choi. I’m texting you because I want to thank you for earlier today. I was able to stand my ground because of you and thanks for the merch…..I couldn’t have got them without you…..good night…see u tomorrow… ^^”

Changsoo was laying in bed so close to falling asleep but his phone kept on going off. He got a text from an unknown number. Normally Changsoo does not open unknown numbers, he would have them all go straight into the spam box but for some reason he opened the text with an unknown number.

Changsoo was so glad that he trusted his instinct and opened the text.

Changsoo couldn’t believe what he was reading. He thought he was dreaming all of this. Changsoo has been trying to get Jen’s phone number but now he doesn’t have to worry about that anymore. Changsoo is able to communicate with her more easily now. He decided to text her back.

“Hey, Jen…no problem….I’m happy that I was able to help….good night and see you tomorrow…^^” 

Jen received a text from Changsoo and she was so happy that she’s able to communicate with him finally.

The concert/fan meeting helped both Jen and Changsoo see their reality properly. 

THE NEXT DAY AT YUMIN CORP

Jen was so calm today. She got to go to that fanmeeting with Jiyi and met her 3 year celeb crush PHS and she also started to communicate with Changsoo outside of work, even though it was just through text messaging.

Jen looked sharp as always, she was dressed really nice like yesterday. She had brand name clothes on but she looked more professional than yesterday. She had a white blouse on made by Chanel and a black skirt made by Chanel and some red heels made by Prada and she had an Hermes bag. She had her long black hair down with a little curls on the bottom with nice natural makeup. She wanted to accentuate her lips with hot pink lipstick this time. 

Jen walked in confidently and Joongi saw how pretty Jen looked. She looked pretty for PHS yesterday but Joongi thought that she even looked stunning than before but he didn’t pay her a compliment because he thought that should be reserved for Changsoo.

“Good Morning Deputy Choi! Good Morning everyone!”

“Good Morning Jen!” Everyone said including Joongi

Joongi had good news for her. Changsoo’s father, the chairman of Yumin group wanted to promote her as Changsoo’s personal secretary. 

“Jen, I need to talk to you for a bit….do you think you can come to my desk once you are done with whatever you were doing there?”

“Of course, Deputy Choi…What is it?”

“Chairman Yoo…..Changsoo’s father wants to promote you as Changsoo’s personal secretary…..”

“Huh? So quickly? I haven’t even proved myself yet….!”

“No and don’t worry, it was not Changsoo’s doing either….he didn’t influence his dad……Chang Soo’s father saw that you are an asset to the company….”

Jen was happy that she gets to work with Changsoo but this felt too sudden and she didn’t know what to think of it….

“So, I will no longer be your boss anymore, Changsoo will be your boss…..It was nice working with you……”

“Oh…okay….” Jen was happy but then she wasn’t sure why she got promoted so fast…she felt like she hasn’t even proved herself yet…..

Even Changsoo was surprised. He was notified by his father’s secretary that Jen just got promoted to be his personal secretary.

Changsoo’s father has no idea who he just promoted and also when Yoonha finds out about this she will most certainly have a fit.

Joongi was kinda insecure and anxious because he really wanted the welcoming party to be the place where both confirm their love for one another but by this situation of Jen getting promoted, things might happen too soon even before the gathering happens next week. Joongi thought that maybe he could schedule the company dinner for tonight instead.

Joongi decided to send a group text to everyone from his department and a few others to this welcoming party. He thought tonight would actually be perfect since Jen is gonna get a promotion. So this could be like a welcoming party and a congrats party for Jen’s promotion, all at the same time. 

“HEY EVERYONE, I CHANGED THE DAY FOR THE WELCOMING PARTY…ITS NOT GONNA BE NEXT FRIDAY……IT’S GONNA BE TONIGHT….SORRY FOR SUCH A SHORT NOTICE….HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE ABLE TO MAKE IT.”

Most of the time people really dislike last minute changes like this to their schedule but Jen is so well liked that the people in Joongi’s department and a few people from other departments were willing to show up to Jen’s welcoming and congrats party for tonight.

“We will first eat dinner at this KOREAN BBQ place, then we will go to the KARAOKE BAR FOR DRINKS AND ENTERTAINMENT.

Everybody from Joongi’s department, a few from other departments, Jiyi, Changsoo and even Jen got this text from Joongi.

Jen finally packed all her stuff to go to Changsoo’s office. Jen felt a little weirded out by this whole situation but she still didn’t mind.

“Okay, are you all ready to go Jen?” Joongi said a little sad. Joongi really loved working with Jen and she also liked working with Joongi. All the people that worked with her in that department loved Jen being on the same team as them and so did she.

“I’m gonna miss working with you guys….”

“I know…we are gonna miss working with you…this means we gotta hire another intern for our department…oh well….now go on….before I stop you…” Joongi giggled looking kinda sad but he was happy at the same time because he knows that situation can perhaps bring the two together.

AT CHANGSOO’S OFFICE.

“Oh you are here….” Changsoo said with a smile.

“Yeah…..where do I sit?”Jen smiled back.

“Oh…that’s your desk…right there….I think you will like the leather chair…I sat on it…and it’s pretty comfy….” Changsoo said with another smile.

“Thanks for what you did for me yesterday at the fan meeting…”

“No…don’t worry…..I was glad to be of help…”

Jen didn’t know what to do because she didn’t know that she would be Changsoo’s secretary without Changsoo influencing the right people to get her here.

“I know you are a little scared…I was too because my father is a very picky man so I thought this was all a prank but it seems like my father really likes your work ethics…I think a lot of the people at Yumin like you…” Changsoo smiled again.

“Just let me know if you need anything…..I want you to be comfortable while working for me….” Changsoo gave Jen that friendly smile and it was driving her crazy. She was trying her best not to give away her feelings for him and it’s so hard to keep her love tucked away. It’s even worse now cus she is gonna be sharing the same room with him for 6 days a week.

Jen and Changsoo got the text from Joongi and they both looked at each other and back at the text message that Joongi sent them.

“Are you excited about later tonight? I haven’t been to a Karaoke in a long time…..” said Changsoo.

“Me neither….” said Jen shaking her head.

Both Changsoo and Jen had something in common…They both liked music and they also have great voices too.

Jen finally got situated at her desk. She loved the desk and the chair. She was able to see the stark difference between working as an intern and a personal secretary for the director of Yumin corp.

Jen had a few files and documents on her desk and a laptop as well. Jen wanted to make sure that she stays focused with her job instead of thinking about a certain someone. Jen turned on her laptop to do some work and she went to make some photocopies for Changsoo. The copy machine was right across from her desk so it was accessible unlike before. 

Changsoo was staring at Jen from behind and Jen was looking at Changsoo from the corner of her eye…..
