Jen was trying to take care of all the documents in a timely fashion but she couldn’t help but to think about the stuff between her and Changsoo. She was thinking about how she loved it whenever he patted her on the head. She loved the feeling of those long hands on her head but she had to stop giving into that…at least not yet. She is certain she likes him too but she can’t be showing her cards too early in this game of love so she decided to take the more professional approach whenever Changsoo does this to her.
As Jen was deep in thought, Joongi came over to her but she was so into whatever she was thinking about that she completely ignored her boss…
“Jen…Jen…Jen…Jen…JEN!” Joongi had to shout out her name kind of loud for her to be able to hear him. Jen felt so bad because in her eyes this was unprofessional to make your boss shout out her name in the office.
“Oh, sorry deputy Choi…I was thinking about something and I was so into it that I didn’t hear you….”
“Oh…I get it…You were thinking about Changsoo right?”
“No…it’s nothing like that……not even close…it’s work related….” Jen tried her best to be professional but her voice just wouldn’t allow her to be…
“Jen, it’s okay…you don’t have to pretend in front of me…..you can’t control your feelings…” Joongi was a very understanding guy, the only flaw of Joongi is the fact that he kinda used Changsoo to climb up the ladder but Joongi still considers Changsoo as a good friend, that hasn’t changed since High School.
“Yeah…but still…”
Jen just realized that she admitted her feelings for Changsoo to Joongi without realizing it. So starting from here Jen felt relieved that she has a friend in the office that she could have a real person to person chit chat with. However, she still wants to remain professional at all costs. Jen has only been at Yumin for barely a few days but her work ethics as an intern is reaching to the top.
Jen also promised herself not to show Changsoo her true feelings and she’s gonna try not to talk about him with Joongi and Jiyi but that will be difficult to do cus Joongi already knows that she likes him. Changsoo has a “feeling” that Jen likes him but hasn’t been able to confirm that.
“Jen, do you think you have a few hours to spare later on today?”
“Ummm that depends, what is it, Deputy Choi?”
“Jen, you know the girl from the grocery department right? Lee Jiyi invited us to have early dinner with her at the noodle shop near the office.”
“Oh, sure….that would be great…I just have to let my mother know that I’m gonna be coming home a little late then…”
“Okay……we’ll all go together at 5:00pm how does that sound?”
“Sounds good…” Jen said in an enthusiastic voice.
Jen made sure that all of her work was done and she asked her colleagues if they needed her to go make copies of documents but it seemed like she didn’t need to. All work at the office seemed to be caught up that her co-workers weren’t struggling. Jen is a meticulous and efficient worker and that is why she was liked by everyone at her job. Also, she was very sweet, friendly and professional so everyone liked her. All the guys stare at Jen but they know that she is way out of their league so they never really go up to her and ask her out unlike Changsoo.
Jen, Joongi, and Jiyi all met once it was 5:00pm.
“Let’s go meet up with Jiyi, you took care of all the important documents right?”
“Yes, Deputy Choi….” Jen said politely.
“You don’t have to call me that outside of work…you can just call me Joongi.”
“Okay, but I still want to remain professional even outside of work cus I don’t want to accidentally call you Joongi while I’m still on duty….”
“Jen, relax….you don’t have to be professional all the time…” Joongi smiled at Jen but it was just a friendly smile since he likes Yoonha more than anything.
Joongi and Jen went to go get Jiyi and they walked over to the noodle shop. They ordered some spicy seafood noodles with some iced tea.
Joongi, Jen and Jiyi were talking about things that happen at the office and they started talking about office romance…..Jen didn’t like the way the conversation was going because she wanted to avoid office romance at all costs.
Changsoo was done with his duty for today and he decided to look for Jen. He needed to talk to her, he was missing her like crazy. He needed her phone number so he could bother her but he didn’t have it yet. He even entertained the idea of buying her a phone but quickly discarded that thought because he knew exactly what she was gonna say.
Changsoo left the building and started walking. He felt like he needed to go for a walk before driving home. Changsoo’s lifestyle changed dramatically overnight. Before Jen came into the picture he would be preparing for his evening party at the office but now he gave all that up. His duty after work was looking for Jen now. He was walking and walking then saw the three sitting at the noodle shop, giggling and having a good time. He envied Joongi all of a sudden, he felt like that was his place to be, minus Lee Jiyi.
“You like Changsoo, right? Deputy Choi kept on asking Jen.
“No…..I don’t like him…he seems like a nice guy but I still don’t like him..” Jen tried to sound professional and matter of fact.
“What about you, deputy choi?” Jen decided to toss the ball to Joongi…..
“Me? I do like someone but it’s a secret…” Both Jen and Jiyi begged Joongi to tell them but he didn’t budge because his liking of Yoonha has to be a secret until he is able to get to her.
Jen also found out that Jiyi is the friend of her big sister…She was the one that her sister knows from Yumin.
“So you are friends with my sister?” Jen asked, surprised.
“Yeah….she is….”
As Jiyi was about to get into detail about how she became friends with her sister, Changsoo barged in.
“What are you three doing without me? Why are you leaving me out?”
Jen didn’t know what to do….she took a deep breath to keep her cool. She didn’t expect Changsoo to find her here. Maybe they should’ve picked a place far away from the office to eat.
Jen tried her best to control her blushing as well and she was succeeding because the Iced tea was helping her cool down. She decided to just calmly sit there without running away.
“Jen, what are you doing with Joongi and Jiyi?” Asked the intrigued Changsoo.
“Deputy Choi and Jiyi invited me to eat with them…..co-workers are allowed to have dinner together outside of work, right?” Jen asked Changsoo in a matter of fact way.
“Of course, I’m not saying what you did was wrong……but I’m just upset that you didn’t even invite me….” Changsoo was pouting and Jen thought that it was kinda cute but decided not to show it.
As Changsoo was talking Jen found herself checking him out in the corner of her eye without getting caught. Jen was fortunate enough not to get caught every time she checked him out in the corner of her eye but he managed to catch her once but she was fast enough to turn away quickly that she was able to get away with it this time.
Changsoo thought about asking Joongi to help him win Jen’s heart. He thought about going out for a drink and having a man to man talk with Joongi after the girls leave.
Jen was done eating and she decided to excuse herself because she felt like she’s gonna give herself away if she stays any longer.
“Director Yoo, Deputy Choi, Jiyi … .I better go…I forgot to text my mom that I’m gonna be a little late so I have to go…I don’t want her to worry about me…”
Jen was a bit of a mama’s little girl.
Changsoo was gonna stop her but Joongi grabbed his wrist lightly as a sign that he should just stay put.
“Bye, Jen! We should have a girls night out sometime!” said Jiyi.
“Be safe… I will see you at the office.. tomorrow.” said Joongi.
Changsoo wanted to say something but couldn’t. He felt like he didn’t want to say anything to upset Jen or make her dislike him more and more.
Jen took an uber home because she didn’t feel like taking a regular taxi.
Jen got home finally and her sister and mom wanted to know more about how things are going at her new job.
“You are a little late…..” Jen’s mom said in a concerned voice.
“Don’t worry, I already ate mom….” Jen said in a somewhat tired voice.
“It’s time to watch your favorite drama!” Jen’s sister said excitedly.
“Oh really?!” There was this weekday Rom-com series with the actor by the initials P.H.S…….He was tall and very handsome. Her phone wallpaper and all her devices had pictures of this P.H.S actor…..
“Yup…you came home on time to watch him huh?” Jen’s sister asked.
“I think so…right on time! I need some snacks too!” Jen made some popcorn to go with her show. Jen realized something…she could see why she was attracted to Changsoo. Changsoo or Director Yoo looked a lot like this actor, P.H.S…..
Jen didn’t want to tell her mom and sister about her infatuation for Changsoo but she put all her energy into P.H.S instead.
Meanwhile, at the bar. After Jen left Jiyi pretty much left a few minutes after she did and after Jiyi left, the two men headed to the bar where they frequent.
They ordered some whiskey and some snacks for their drinks. Changsoo wanted to tell Joongi about what he’s been going through and Joongi wanted to share the same problem that he is having which is similar to what Changsoo is going through at the moment.
“Hey, I have a question, Changsoo….”
“Go ahead, shoot….” The two guys are both kinda buzzed and they were feeling the alcohol run through their veins and this is why they are able to let their pride go and share their innermost thoughts with each other.
“Do you like Jen…the intern girl?”
“Yes, I do…I really do Joongi and it hurts because I feel like she is avoiding me……”
Joongi kinda knows that Jen likes him but he respects her enough to not say anything to him although it would help him a great deal with his confidence to know that Jen actually likes him.
“Oh yeah? Why do you like her anyways? Can you tell me?”
Changsoo had his head on the bar table and started to mumble about something then he felt wide awake all of a sudden. He lifted up his head and looked Joongi dead in the eye to give him the reason why he likes Jen.
“ Joongi ya, I’m a rich guy and I’m pretty handsome…..so just about all the girls I interacted with never liked me for me…as Yoo Changsoo…They only liked me for my money and my good looks, also good sex which equates to my good looks…hahahaha..” Even Changsoo thought what he just said was cheesy and corny.
Joongi smiled as he took another sip of his drink.
Changsoo gulped down the whiskey that was already in his glass and continued on.
“You know…Jen…she is not interested in my money or whatever I have…..I even offered her an upgrade…..so she could quickly go from a lowly intern to my personal secretary … .but she turned that down … .TWICE!”
“I know what you mean…people at my division really love her cus she is friendly, professional, hard working, and she is very talented with her job too…we all enjoy her working with us….”
Changsoo put his index finger towards Joongi’s face and said…
“EXACTLY!”
“On top of that Jen is very pretty too … .the smell of her shampoo, her long straight voluminous black hair…..her babyface…..her confident posture…..her outfits…and just everything drives me crazy.”
Joongi was able to tell that Changsoo is deeply into Jen…He wants to help him but he feels like now is not the time. He respects Jen too much to say what he has observed about Jen.
“Oh what about you Joongi? How’s your love life? You like Yoonha don’t you? Don’t deny it…I saw how you looked at her that one time at the company dinner…..oh yea, speaking of which…we should arrange a company dinner sometime soon to welcome Jen…”
“I do like Yoonha but it’s nothing serious … .I think she is attractive…you know how I am…I like attractive looking girls…..” Joongi gave him that famous grin with dimples.
“No no no, Joongi…I think you are crazy about Yoonha … .She’s been bothering me lately…She wants to get married to me but I do not like her … .I only see her as a sister…..I want to pursue Jen, that’s the only thing on my mind…can you help set up the company dinner?”
Joongi felt like setting up the company dinner and inviting Jen over and making her the main guest seemed like a good idea since she’s a newbie and all. He thought by arranging something like this Jen and Changsoo could naturally come together without him saying a word.
“Okay…..I will help you set up that company dinner and invite Jen……but you have to keep your end of the bargain too….”
“What is it buddy?”
“You have to help me get closer to Yoonha….”
“Deal!” said Changsoo while emphasizing the word.
Jen, her mom and her sister were watching the drama that PHS was in. Everytime PHS appeared on the screen her face was turning red but at the same time she was thinking of Changsoo.
“So did you get to talk with the director of Yumin?” The sister asked her.
“Yeah…..he seems nice…” Jen kept it brief.
“Oh…I heard he’s a womanizer, he is very popular with all the ladies…”
“Yeah, I know….” Jen decided to keep it nonchalant.
“Oh btw sis, is Lee Jiyi your friend? Is she the one you were talking about that goes to Yumin Corp?”
“Yup she’s the one!”
“How did you meet her?”
“We met at my old job…it was a little while before she worked for the Yumin grocery chain.”
“Oh…”
The drama with PHS is over now and she wanted to go wash up and go to her room.
“Mom, sis…I’m tired…I’m gonna go shower and go to bed…”
Jen’s mom hugged her and said.
“Okay…dear…don’t think about him too much…”
“What? Who? PHS?”
“No, your boss!”
“Mom! No!”
Jen got a nice shower and went to her room. She was in her comfy Pajamas and laying on her bed. She was looking at her phone and the wallpaper was the good looking actor PHS but for some reason she wasn’t seeing PHS on her phone but seeing Changsoo.
How in the world did her mom know that she was crushing on her boss? And also Joongi seems to know too. What is she doing that’s giving it all away? She has to try to remain her poker face and she needs to change her overall body language or something to make people not think that she likes Changsoo.
Jen decided to look up some info on the internet on how to hide your feelings from your crush. Jen ran into a site on WikiHow and this gave you the info on how to mask your feelings from your crush. She crossed her fingers that it would work as she was reading the article.
According to the article it was talking about being calm around your crush but this seemed so difficult cus she has butterflies whenever he is around. Also accept the fact that you would get nervous around him. Taking a deep breath helps too. It was something that Jen does a lot to help her relax whenever he is around. The article also mentions that making too much eye contact could be dead give away.
“This is hard….how do I keep myself from doing these things?”
Jen said to herself frustrated.
“What?! Limit my interactions?” This seemed so not doable.
Jen was rolling in bed not knowing what to do. How do you keep calm, collected and professional? Jen was able to empathize with all the women that wanted to get close to him.
One of the most important things in the article seemed to be about physical touches……
“I gotta really avoid this….He loves to pat me on the head and I love being patted on the head but I gotta stop giving him the hints that I’m liking it…Starting from tomorrow…I have to be professional…” Jen said to herself determined to not show herself to Changsoo yet.
Jen looked at her phone again after closing the article but she had a similar wish as Changsoo. She wished that she had his phone number although she’s not gonna text him or call him.
