By the time Yoonha went into Changsoo’s office, he was already gone. He left the building with Jen. Changsoo wanted to impress her so he took her to this very nice coffee shop at some five star hotel.
Jen was mesmerized by the scenery. She has seen rich people on TV but hanging out with one is a whole different story. She never fantasized or daydreamed about the fairy tale story with a rich Chaebol but seeing this is making her feel like she is living in some fairytale land. However, Jen wants to let Changsoo know that she is all business. She doesn’t mind friendly interactions with him but doesn’t want to show that she is romantically interested in him……at least not yet anyways. Jen was amazed by the place but decided to act like she is strictly business.
“I came here as a token of my apology for what I said about you but this doesn’t mean that I want to give up my professional relationship with you. Just for the record you are my boss and I’m your subordinate/employee…I want to keep it that way. I came here to climb up the ladder with my own talent…….I don’t need corporate romance or anything like that……” Jen tried to say it in a matter of fact way, but she couldn’t stand herself right now because she is having mad butterflies in her tummy right now.
“Why are you being so strict on yourself? You are in your twenties…can’t you be a little more progressive?” said Changsoo frustrated.
“I’m a progressive person…I’m a young woman that wants to prove that I don’t need a man to succeed but this doesn’t mean that I hate men like some women. What you are saying is the opposite of being progressive. I am the one that’s being progressive for trying to succeed as a young woman without a man’s help!”
Changsoo couldn’t say anything more because Jen had a point. This doesn’t mean that Jen hates men, in fact she loves men but she is all about equality for both men and women in the workplace. Jen felt bad for sounding harsh but this is her true philosophy but at the same time she felt like she had to put her foot down to give him the impression that she is not an easy girl that would just fall head over heels for an attractive guy like Changsoo.
“So…..you don’t want to work as my personal secretary?” Changsoo asked her again.
Jen felt that it was wrong to take the position that seemed so tempting because that would completely undo what she said about climbing up the ladder with her own talents and merits. But the position sounded attractive, she wouldn’t have to work as hard and also she gets to be next to Changsoo at all times……She was torn and this drove her crazy but she decided to be honest with herself and turn it down again.
“What kind of question is that? If I took that position, tempting as it sounds….I would be going back on my word that I just said earlier and that means I’m not being true to myself and to you…….” Jen tried to be straight forward and matter of fact again.
Changsoo has never met someone like Jen before, she is attractive in every way and he could kinda tell that she is attracted to him but yet she is not like most girls just falling on his feet.
Jen liked the coffee though, she had no idea that the coffee in these places actually tasted better than regular coffee at Starbucks or something. Jen is a big Korean Drama watcher and when she is at home she would watch dramas with her mom and her big sister. And in a lot of these Rom-Com trendy dramas many characters would be sipping nice 5 star hotel coffee and she thought it can’t taste that much different than regular coffee. However, she was so wrong because there is a stark difference between regular coffee and 5 star hotel coffee.
“Thank you director Yoo for this delicious coffee. I admit, it tastes way better than the coffee that we middle class people drink. Thanks for allowing me to experience this but I think I better get going…..Deputy Choi might be looking for me….My break has ended a while back now….I don’t want to get in trouble for not doing my duty….Well then, please excuse me…” Jen excused herself politely and took an uber back to the office.
Jen wasn’t completely clueless about her feelings, she knew that she did have a thing for Changsoo it’s just she doesn’t want to show that yet. However, her only problem is giving away certain hints like when he pats her on the head … .She realized she has to stop blushing, running away, giggling or smiling when he pats her on the head.
Jen finally got to the office and explained why she returned so late from lunch.
“Sorry, Deputy Choi…..I…’m late from lunch cus Director Yoo wanted to talk to me about something important.”
“Oh no it’s okay…I know….I think Director Yoo likes you…” Joongi smiled. Joongi has never seen Changsoo act this way. He would know since they have been friends since High School.
“So I’m not in trouble…” Jen asked curiously.
“Of course not and you do know that Changsoo is my boss so since you were out with him I can’t say anything about it yes?”
“Yes,,,,”
Jen went back to her seat and started to look at the pile of work on her desk. She took care of everything in a timely fashion. Jen was such a meticulous and talented worker that her work ethics carried over to the top and even Changoos’s father was beginning to notice her. An intern makes a dent like this doesn’t happen often.
Meanwhile, Yoonha was in Changsoo’s office waiting for him. He finally got back and saw Yoonha sitting there.
“What are you doing here Yoonha?”
“I was waiting for you…by the way, who is that girl? Your new girlfriend?”
“Nope…..she is just a worker here … .and Intern … .why are you so interested in my love life? You like me that much?”
“You should know already, Changsoo…It’s because I like you … .we are supposed to meet tonight, didn’t your mother tell you? Oh and we were gonna go have a deep discussion at the hotel suite…”
“Look, I told you…I don’t think of you that way! So you are just wasting your time…”
“Fine, I’m gonna let your father know … .He really wants us to become families because Taejin is a great asset to Yumin but you are blowing it Yoo Chang Soo…Oh and by the way, I’m not gonna give you up…I will have you no matter what!” Yoonha was very determined. Joongi overheard all this because he needed to give some documents to Changsoo so he had no choice but to hear it all. This broke Joongi’s heart cus he has a thing for Yoonha.
As Joongi was deep in thought he got a text from Jiyi.
“Deputy Choi, how about going out for Chicken and Beer tonight…my treat…”
“Oh yeah sure…should I bring Jen along too?”
“Of course…..Jen really cheers me up!”
“Okay, I will let Jen know before we get off.” Said Joongi.
