Ah…Strong Woman Do Bongsoon is kinda special to me in a way, Hwarang was the first show I saw with our dear Sikkie before I became his die hard fan but I would have to say that Do Bong Soon is the one that completely sealed the deal for me. Although there was Our Blooming Youth that sparked my curiousity per se.

I actually remember this show being heavily promoted back in 2017 on Viki but just like how I ignored our Sikki back in 2016, I did it again in 2017…I almost clicked the PLAY button but didn’t do it and…..now I kinda regret it.

But anyways, me and my long intros with my posts lately…I kinda have to cus I have to explain my background story before and after my fangirlhood for my dear Park Hyungsik.

Year 2023, the year I became sucked into THE WORLD OF PARK HYUNGSIK……STRONG WOMAN DO BONGSOON REALLY SEALED THE DEAL…..ONCE I started episode one I was instantly hooked and I instantly regreted not watching this when it came out.

Ahn Min Hyuk played by Park Hyungsik is a Ceo of a game company called Anisoft? There was a rumor going around saying that he is gay but he allows that rumor to float around because he thought that he could take advantage of it somehow. His family is kinda messed up. His dad became rich through organized crime or something kinda similar to this and his mom passed on when he was very young. His brothers hate him, well his oldest brother and his 3rd older brother hate him because they want their father’s inheritence. His second older brother is more supportive towards him although he betrays him later.

Minhyuk is interested in Do Bong Soon and she is played by tiny lady Park Bo Young, the moment he lays eyes on her at the police station. Although, they have seen each other before years and years ago. Minhyuk is such an adorable guy. I would have to say his character seems to be very similar to his actual personality in real life because Park Hyungsik is a very playful individual.

Anyways, going back to the story, Do Bongsoon played by tiny lady Park Boyoung, her character in this show is very strong, a little too strong to control. Her almost super human strength runs down in the family but only to the female members of the household. However, if you use it for the wrong reason or hurt someone you can possibly lose your strength altogether.

Bongsoon has a younger brother who is a doctor, her parents own an walnut pie restaurant. Bongsoon’s mom kinda wears the pants around the house if you know what I mean…Bongsoon’s mom likes to go to buddhist temples to get her horoscope and such, Bongsoon’s mom loves Minhyuk almost immediately, that’s why he called her Ahn Seobang…which is equivalent to Son in law.

Do Bong Soon’s mom was played by actress Shim Hyejin and she’s a veteran actress and Bongsoon’s younger brother is Ahn Wooyeon, he was in Five Children and Bubblegum. Bongsoon’s father was in Hwarang with our Sikkie a year prior to SWDBS.

Oh we cannot forget In Guk Doo….Bongsoon’s High School crush played by Ji Soo/Kim Jisoo. Guk Doo really took Bong Soon for granted. Bong Soon liked Gukdoo for like nearly ten years…….Guk Doo is a young detective at the local police department.

Bongsoon’s neighborhood was filled with crime and the main crimonal was a man going around raping women. And this man even attacked Bongsoon’s best female friend, Kyungshim.

I love the romance between Anh Min Hyuk and Do Bongsoon, the somewhat of a triangular relationship between…Minhyuk, Bongsoon, and Gukdoo was fun to watch.

Episode 7 is where Bongsoon and Minhyuk realize that something is going on between them deep within. Minhyuk was helping Bongsoon train. Bong Bong underestimated Minhyuk because she’s a strong woman indeed. Minhyuk was strong enough to almost do a Judo move on her and she ended up being trapped, couldn’t move it all.

Then the famous Minhyuk stare happened. I call it the Park Hyungsik Scorpio stare cus Hyungsik oppa/Sikkie is a scorpio and scorpios are known for/ famous for their scorpio stare. The way Minhyuk and Bongsoon stare at each other intensely made me have chills and goosebumps. I’d have to say its one of my favorite Rom-Coms I have seen in a long time. One of my favorite KOREAN ROM COMS and EVEN ROMCOMS from OTHER COUNTRIES!

There are so many moments that I have to mention when it comes to our two leading actors for Strong Woman Do Bongsoon. I also like the scene where MinMin and Gukdoo get so wasted that they kinda forgot what they did with each other so this kinda made Bongsoon think that MinMin is gay forealz but Bong’s bestie was saying Min Min is so not gay. She was able to tell right off the bat. My hat goes out to Bong’s bestie. She is a smartie!

There was this other scene where Minmin and Gukdo get into this wierd competitive mode. Its strange cus Gukdo only thinks of Bong Bong as his friend but he gets super into competing against Minhyuk while Bongsoon is watching…..I think deep inside Gukdoo did like Bongsoon, it’s just that he took too darn long.

Gukdoo becomes really protective of Bongsoon although he only thinks of her as a friend which is kinda silly when you think about it. Gukdoo just did not want to admit it….He actually liked Bongsoon but couldn’t have the guts to pursue her like Minhyuk did.

Minhyuk is rather a lonely character. He has it all on the surface. He is young, he is rich, he has status, he is tall and handsome…the list goes on and on but he feels this empty void inside, which is very understandable. His dad hardly communicates with him, his stepmom does not care about Minhyuk and his brothers are his rival…..fighting over the company’s inheritance and stuff.

Minhyuk felt like Bongsoon is what could fill his void and emptiness in his heart. Bongsoon’s dad is very cautious about Bongsoon. He is not a fan of Boonsoon sleeping over a Minhyuk’s house but her mom welcomes it. Bongsoon’s mom even encourages for Bongsoon to go to bed with Minhyuk cus in her heart he is already her son in law.

As the show progresses we see that Bongsoon is slowly drawn to Minhyuk although she desperatly tries to hold onto her old love. The moment Minhyuk took that first step, Bongsoon and Gukdoo were already doomed from that point on…..

Also, how can I forget the scene where Min, Bong, Bong’s brother, and Bong’s bestie go clubbing. Bong is so freaking wasted that she does pole dancing which Min finds so adorable. After Min brought Bong back home, Bong made a fool out of herself by grabbing Min’s booty. All these silly things that Bongsoon does, Minhyuk finds it super adorable.

There are other romantic scenes that I like between our dear Minbong couple….The scene where they go to the beach to work on their special project or more like Bongsoon working on her character design for the game she is helping to design.

Oh yea, I should have mentioned this when I was introducing Boonsoon’s character early on, she is an aspiring game designer and wanted to work at Minhyuk’s game company. However, Bong starts out as Min’s bodygaurd. Most people would be like WTF but like I said, Bongsoon has a super human strength that runs in the family which is passed down to all the females in the family. Bongsoon is so strong that she ends up being Minhyuk’s body guard and thats why she lives with him in his huge house.

Anyways, back to the beach trip…they draw a big heart and kiss each other there! Bong and Min’s first official kiss on the show. Park Hyungsik is so tall and Park Bo Young is so tiny so it was so adorable when they would kiss and do romantic things together.

Another one is where Minhyuk ends up in the hopsital because he takes the bullet for Bongsoon, he gets shot and gets hospitalized and there were some sweet scenes in the hospital as well. Minhyuk takes a little cowboy shower and Bong dries his hair and DA DUM….their eyes meet again. I have to say Park Hyungsik does his famous scorpio stare a lot in this show….He does it on other shows too but not as much as here though.

Before I get to my other romantic sences between Bongsoon and Minhyuk, is Bongsoon’s mother again. She tries her best to score brownie points from her future son in law so she would visit Min to the hospital every so often and she brings spicy chicken legs but Minhyuk has such a hard time eating it. Minhyuk looked like he was suffering from that spicy chicken leg/spicy chicken feet Bong’s mom gave to him but I call this superb acting for making it look this way. For all of you who knows Park Hyungsik well enough would know that HE IS A BIG SPICY FOOD LOVER. He just doesn’t do regular spicy, that just won’t do it for for him….HE DOES THE EXTRA SPICY STUFF THAT MOST PEOPLE WON’T BE ABLE TO HANDLE…..

There is also this old gay dude that trains Bongsoon and he is super in love with Minhyuk but after realizing that he likes Bongsoon he treats her really badly. Minhyuk’s secretary, Secretary Gong is kinda of a yes man. There are other minor characters…..like the young students that hang out at the PC gaming room that rip other weaker students off and beat them if they don’t pay, get their butts whooped. And also MR. KIM Who is like a serial killer and rapist meet his demise.

Gukdoo had his chance but he gets a call from the police station so ends up getting to the coffee shop late so he misses his chance, by then Bongsoon was already in Minhyuk’s arms. Although later he goes to confess to Bongsoon but it was way too late by then, she kinda tells him indirectly that she just wants to remain friends with him. Moral of the story, don’t let someone wait for too long cus if you do, it would be too late……

Minhyuk rents the whole auditormium and he acts as if he is gonna do something naughty and just relentlessly tease the heck out of BongBong. I liked the way he makes it seem as if he’s gonna french kiss her but he just gives her a soft peck on her head. I also like the part where they were at the library and Minhyuk just grabs her hands and holds it. Minhyuk is so direct, playful, silly, adorable and funny all rolled into one. I think Ahn Minhyuk and Park Hyungsik are very similar in my humble opinion.

Last but not least my favorite of the favorite…you guessed it…It’s the legendery piano scene…..I think this kiss was probably much easier for the actress than the kiss scene that happened at the beach. The kiss was so passionate. Bong was at her house playing with her phone….Min Hyuk was at his house too. They were both thinking of each other and Minhyuk had a hard time so he wanted to get his mind off of her so he was doing pushups and stuff…….but Bong came over anyways cus she missed him too much. It makes sense since he is so irresistable…..This show is what made me think that that Sikkie is a super good kisser…..The way he looks at Bong gently and just gently but passionately kissed her made me weak in the knees.

I like the ending where he proses to her while watching the cherry blossom tress bloom and she gets the ring. They get married and have twins………

I love the music too. I love the OST….I liked the song that Park Hyungsik sang and some of the other songs sung by others. I like the songs because they represent the characters so well. I’m so glad that I finally got to watch it six years after it came out……Never too late I guess…..

This show is awsome……..I kinda want Park Hyungsuk to do some comedy again!
