My love madam butterfly (2012)

·

I really love My love Madam Butterfly! This show came out like exactly ten years ago but I still like it a lot. I’m so behind since I had no interest in Park Yong Woo when this show was new back in 2012! I’m basically playing catch up! I love Yong Woo oppa’s character Lee Woo Jae and he is so adorable with Yeom Jung Ah’s character Nam Navi! I completely ship this couple because Navi is a bit of a ditz but has a heart of gold but it takes several episodes to get there. And Lee Woo Jae comes off as a spoiled rich guy but he is so sweet and he treats Navi like a queen/princess!

Navi is a has been actress that ends up getting married to the wrong person, and that wrong person’s name is Kim Jeong Wook/Roy Kim played by Kim Sungsoo…….She marries this person due to her so called friend Yoon Seol Ah played by Yoon Seah who arranges this marriage to come to fruition but it’s not a real marriage and you get to find that out as the show progresses. Meanwhile, we have Lee Woo Jae who was married to Seolah but got a divorce seven years ago for various reasons and due to a lot of heartbreak he decides not to fall in love again until Navi comes along.

I just love Navi and Woojae cus they are so cute together and not just that…..Navi is so funny that she makes Woojae laugh and he really needs that after so much has happened to him since childhood. By the way, Navi is a has been actress who lives with her mom and she lost everything cus of Roy and Woojae is from a wealthy family, his family owns a huge department store.

I initially watched this show before I watched Changing Partners, but after I watched Changing partners I started to miss My love madam butterfly cus it’s really fluffy…….The more I go back and rewatch the show I just love it more and more. Don’t get me wrong now, this show does have flaws and this show too can’t get away from the K-Drama tropes…..However, I still like it for various reasons.

I know this may sound shallow but Yongwoo oppa looks so handsome in this show along with his romantic interest Yeom Jungah who plays the main protagonist Nam Nabi. The villians Yoon Seol Ah, WooJae’s grandfather/father, and Kim Jeong wook/Roy are super annoying….At least Roy was able to redeem himself later on but Seolah and the old man just couldn’t seem to let go till the very last moments of the show.

This show is 51 episode show but it does dragon on a little bit with stupid plot twists with the villans but I really do like the character arcs of Nam Nabi and Lee Woojae. Nam Nabi started out as a complete ditz, shallow, airheaded, super self centered and very inconsiderate. However she turns this around and becomes a fully realized human being through traumatic events. She learns about true love and family. She learns to love someone wholeheartedly once a man name Lee Woojae comes into her life and she learns what it means to live as a family unit once she meets Roy Kim/ Kim Jeong Wook’s family after he took off to be in hiding.

I also liked Yeom Jungah’s acting….at first I didn’t like her character….at least in the first 5 episodes but as the show progresses you can’t help but to like her cus through her suffering she grows as a person. Not only that Nam Nabi is really funny and it’s easy to laugh at her antics, and Yeom Jung Ah is able to make this Nam Nabi character to life. Also, the chemistry between Yeom Jung Ah and Yongwoo oppa is so perfect. Physically, she is a bit on the tall side so it’s kinda weird when they stand next to each other but despite that they have this chemistry that works.

Lee Woojae also has an arc too. He starts out a little distant, aloof and cold but that’s understandable since he grew up without a mother and his so called grandfather wasn’t emotionally there for him growing up. And he had a failed marriage with Seol Ah so he promised himself that he would never fall in love again until he crosses path Nam Nabi……Lee Woojae really is a sweet guy underneath it all but he never really had reasons to laugh genuinely but after he met Nabi that completely changed. The more he encountered with Nabi her silly and ridiculous antics made him laugh day by day and due to this he couldn’t help opening up to Nabi the more they interacted with each other.

I would have to say this is one of my favorite shows that Yongwoo oppa is in so if you are a Park Yongwoo fan and never watched this show, I highly recommend it. They storyline may be predictable and silly but Yongwoo oppa is so awesome in this show, so that alone is worth it. Also Yeom Jung Ah is great in it too like I mentioned earlier……
