Hi all, I been meaning to do this for awhile. I mean, a long awhile. I am a big fan of Harry Potter and I do like some of my awesome Korean actors/actresses so I came up with an idea to do my own casting for Harry Potter with Korean actors and actresses. You might not agree with me but it’s okay because I am just doing this for fun. So as you scroll down just have fun and enjoy the ride I suppose. So here it is.
Harry Potter: Yoo Seung Ho.

No matter how I slice it the only person that I can think of as Harry Potter would be none other than Yoo Seung Ho. I didn’t cast Seung Ho as the main character just because I am a fangirl but I think this dude is really suitable to play Harry.
The main reason to why I chose Seung Ho as Harry is because he would be so good at playing someone from a broken home. Call this a type casting or what but Seung Ho tends to play a guy from torn up family so well. If any of you have seen quite a few of his stuff then you would know that he has played characters with a lot of issues.
Harry is raised by his aunt and uncle that are quite mean to him, along with his cousin dudley that picks on him and bullies him. So Harry does go through quite a bit in both the novel and the films. I could totally see Seung Ho with that scar on his forehead and going through a lot of crap. And don’t you think this SEUNG HO LOOKS good with glasses? Yes, he does. When he was in Imaginary Cat he has proved to me that he looks like such a handsome nerd with glasses on and top of that with the lightening bolt on his forehead it will just add a little more spice to what this guy already is!
Hermoine Granger: Park Eun Bin

Hermoine Granger is a goody goody two shoe who is very smart and is about the underdog. Park Eun Bin displayed this kind of quality in Operational Proposal. In Operational Proposal Park Eun Bin was very smart and sometimes would even out smart her superior. Hermoine Granger wanted everything done perfectly and she was all about following order and Park Eun Bin’s character as Ham Yi Seul was like that as well, so I can see her as Hermoine being her usual self just like in Operational Proposal.
Ronald Weasley: Lee Hyun Woo.

Lee Hyun Woo could probably play a bit ditzy but comical character like Ronald Weasley really well. Ronald Weasley is silly, quirky but has a heart of gold at the same time. Lee Hyun Woo was in Master of Study as Hong Chan Doo and in that show he was silly and fun with the heart of gold. Lee Hyun Woo’s character wasn’t so much of a ditz nor a quirk compared to Ron Weasley but I could still picture him being the carrot top that as an awkward but cute relationship with Hermoine and also a friend that goes through ups and downs with Harry.
Draco Malfoy: Yoo Ah In.

Draco Malfoy is the villain in the Harry Potter world but he is not completely bad. Yoo Ah In is capable of playing a villain and at the same time he might have some nice side to him as well. I haven’t seen many dramas with Yoo Ah In but from what I have seen thus far I think Yoo Ah In can pull off Malfoy. Also, I been hearing from other people that this guy can actually play an evil character quite well. My main reason for picking this guy as Malfoy is because I believe that Yoo Ah In would look good in blonde hair for some strange reason.
Ginny Weasley: Kim Yoo Jung

Ginny is the younger sister of Ron Weasley, and ever since she was a little girl she had started developing feelings for Harry but of course Ron doesn’t like that very much. Ron is quite protective of his younger sister, I guess most big brothers in the world would feel that way about their baby sisters. Anyways, I heard that Kim Yoo Jung is quite fond of Yoo Seung Ho in real life, they have worked together in the past when they were both children. I think Yoo Jung is slightly on the younger side to be playing Ginny but I couldn’t find anyone that was perfect for the role. Despite all that, I think Yoo Jung resembles Ginny in a visual sense so that’s why I chose her as that character. I can see Seung Ho and Yoo Jung together in high school but I still have a hard time picturing them as a married couple……
Oliver Wood: Kim Min Seok

Oliver Wood’s character is not so big in the Harry Potter world. Although ,he was part of the quidditch team. I saw Kim Min Seok in Imaginary Cat as a friend of Yoo Seung Ho’s character. I can see this guy being in the quidditch team and stuff. Mainly, I chose him for the physicality and nothing more.
Dean Thomas: Yeo Jin Goo

Ginny and Dean have a thing together in certain part of the Harry Potter world. I can totally see Kim Yoo Jung and Yeo Jin Goo dating for sure. In real life they are only 2 years apart, I believe…..
Cedric Diggory: Jang Geun Seok

Cedric was the captain of the quidditch team for Hufflepuff. In the harry potter story they compete with the Gryffindor team. Cedric obviously has leadership skills and I think Jang Geun Seuk totally suits playing the leader type, nuff said.
Luna Lovegood: Go Ara

Luna Lovegood is a free spirited person, laid back, and in love with nature. A lot of the times she seems to be in some other reality, she is very unique and has a mind of her own that is filled with her beautiful imagination. I don’t know Go Ara very well, since I haven’t seen much of her shows or movies but this particular photo tells me that if Go Ara were to study Luna’s character she would be able to pull it off. Why am I being so confident? It’s because I saw an interview with her and Yoo Seung Ho the other day and she was very bubbly and fun, Luna was kinda bubbly from time to time too. In the Harry Potter story Luna and Harry are almost like confidants and I was able to see these two being close friends through the interview I saw the other day.
Lavender Brown: Park Ji Yeon

Boy crazy much? Well, Lavender Brown was all over Ron in the Harry Potter story, especially in the film version. Park Ji Yeon was all over Yoo Seung Ho’s character in a show called Master of Study so when I had to come up with the Korean version of Lavender Brown I thought of Park Ji Yeon immediately. Since I casted Yoo Seung Ho as Harry instead of Ron so she’ll be chasing after Lee Hyun Woo instead. That’s kinda funny because Lee Hyun Woo was in master of Study but Park Ji Yeon’s character was not interested in him at all. I could so see Park Ji Yeon pulling off Lavender Brown so easily. Even their fashion sense seems to be similar too…..
Vincent Crabbe: Lee Chan Ho

There is not much too say regarding Crabbe and Lee Chan Ho. I picked Lee Chan Ho as Crabbe because of the boy’s physicality. Lee Chan Ho was also in the Master of Study and in that show he eats a lot. I think Crabbe likes to eat too. So, there you go, easy peasy…
Gregory Goyle: Lee Si Eon

This one was kinda difficult. I chose Lee Si Eon because of the recent show I been watching that just finished airing today: called REMEMBER (The War of the son). In that show he was loyal to the person he was serving, just like how Goyle was loyal to Draco Malfoy. I personally thought Goyle was bit on the smarter side than Crabbe and Lee Si Eon played a guy that was a bit loyal but smarter enough to make up his own mind.
Weasley Twins: Young Min and Kwang Min

This was a bit hard as well….I hardly know any young male twin celebrities from Korea so I thought that this was gonna be impossible but somehow I was able to find these guys, it’s called the POWER OF THE INTERNET EVERYONE! These two boys are from a K-POP boy band called Boyfriends? I think these guys are kinda popular in Japan or something. I barely know anything about these two guys but just for being a twin, young and somewhat visually compatible with the Weasley Twins I decided to cast them as such…
Neville Longbottom: Lee Jong Seok

Both Neville Longbottom and Lee Jong Seok are quite tall and lanky so once again the decision was purely from a physical point of view. Neville comes off as a weakling in the beginning but by the end he becomes a very courageous young man. However, I haven’t seen Lee Jong Seok play any character where he goes from weak to strong. Maybe he has played such a character but I haven’t seen those yet. Physicality wise I think these two are quite similar; tall and lanky….
Cho Chang: Moon Geun Young

Both Cho Chang and Moon Geun Young have long straight black hair so that’s very fitting. I even think their personalities are similar too. Cho Chang likes Harry in the story but she is very shy about it. I think Moon Geun Young is a shy person in real life so if she played such a character it would seem so natural since by that point Geun Young is no longer acting haha. In this case both Cho and Geun Young are similar visually and also personality wise so it’s quite perfect.
Lee Jordan: Lee Seung Ki

Lee Jordan is an announcer for the quidditch match and Lee Seung Gi is quite famous for his mcing abilities. I have Lee Seung Gi as an mc more than as an actor to tell you the truth. I forgot to mention this but they both have LEE in their names.
Seamus Finnigan: Choi Woo Shik

Seamus Finnigan is usually on the sidelines in the Harry Potter world….I picked Choi Woo Shik as Seamus because of his similar looks I suppose?
Viktor Krum: Teacyeon (2pm)

Viktor Krum is very manly and so is Taecyeon from 2pm. Also their fierce looking eyes, do I need to say more?
Moaning Myrtle: Seo Woo

Moaning Myrtle is creepy and cute all in one. Seo Woo can make you feel smitten by being cute and a bit evil at the same time which would make you wanna feel creeped out . So she is perfect to be Moaning Myrtle.
Fluer Delacour: Park Shin Hye

Fleur Delacour is so lady like. She is reaking with feminine beauty. Park Shin Hye looks like the goddess of love. See the resemblance?
Padma Patil: Lee Tae Im

I saw Padma Patil mostly in Goblet of Fire during their dance party sequences. Padma is the one that has a thing for Ron at the dance party but obviously the carrot top isn’t interested because who he really wants is Hermoine. Padma seems to be a bit aggressive towards Ron if I can remember correctly. I saw Lee Tae Im in a show called Wild Chives and Soybean Soup and in that drama she was a bit aggressive towards the male lead as well.
Sybil Trelawey: Bae Doona

I think Doona would be the only woman that can play the Divinity teacher from Harry Potter. I have seen a lot of Bae Doona’s work and she is so good. *Fangirl Moment.* Doona played a teacher in a show called Master of Study and she really cared for her students in that show. Our divinity teacher in Harry Potter also is a bit on the nurturing side when it comes to her students, while the other teachers are pretty strict. Also, I think that the divinity teacher is a bit quirky and Doona also played a teacher that was a little eccentric on Master of Study. Besides, I think Doona is actually quirky and eccentric in real life anyways.
Severus Snape: Nam Goong Min

For a long time I thought Professor Snape was evil….He might have been evil on the surface but deep within he wasn’t such a bad guy. I think Nam Goong Min will be perfect as Snape because this guy can do the ambiguous. I have seen a few shows with Nam Goong Min and he seems to do a guy that seems to be bad on the surface but has a sweet nature if you look hard enough. Also, Nam Goong Min kinda has similar eyes as Snape where there is some kind of sadness and disturbance but yet this innocence.
Albus Dumbledore: Lee Soon Jae

I don’t know too many old Korean male actors but I have seen this man quite often. He usually plays someone’s grandpa or he plays like the chairman of a company and such. I know a handful of elderly Korean actors but I chose this gentleman because I think he can pull off a firm but gentle elderly man who cares for our male lead. Lee Soon Jae was in Flames of Desire with Yoo Seung Ho so they would get along so well as Professor Dumbledore and Harry Potter…
Lord Voldemort: Won Bin

I can see Won Bin playing a bad guy, I mean a complete bad guy. I don’t know, I think it’s the eyes. Voldemort creeps me out in a fully dangerous kind of way and Won Bin is capable of making the same effects with his acting ability. I remember seeing a movie called: MOTHER and in that movie Won Bin made me feel a little bit uneasy….?
Rubeus Hagrid: Choi Min Soo

This was very hard because I don’t know any Korean male actor who is tall and gigantic like Hagrid. I chose Choi Min Soo because he is the closest I can think of who resembles Hagrid in the K-drama world. Choi Min Soo is pretty tall for an average Korean male and he is a bit scruffy like Hagrid.
Bellatrix Lestrange: Park Hye Mi

The images above should explain everything…….
Argus Filch: Lee Moon Shik

I think they resemble each other because of the severe wrinkles. I can totally see Lee Moon Shik as someone that is a little hard to get along with. I can see this Korean actor play Mr. Filch because he comes off to me as someone that won’t bend the rules. I am currently watching a show called Moorim School and he plays the father of one of the main female character and in that show he doesn’t bend the rules very much.
Serius Black: Song Kang Ho

Serius Black is played by none other than GARY OLDMAN. Gary Oldman is one of my favorite British actors and also he is one of my favorite actors in general. Gary is such a chameleon, he can play a good guy, a bad guy and even an ambiguous character. I think that Song Kang Ho is a Korean equivalent to Gary Oldman. Song Kang Ho is good in his own right but if I were to compare the two I think Gary is slightly better but even then Mr. Song is a great actor as well. This is one of the main reasons why I picked Song Kang Ho to play Gary Oldman’s character which is Serius black….I think they resemble each other for being such awesome actors.
Remus Lupin: Lee Jun Ki

Remus turns into a warewolf, I can totally see Lee Jun Ki turning into a warewolf too. I know, this is totally making the fangirls go crazy right? Lee Jun Ki would be a really cute looking warewolf but if you look straight into his angry eyes that would totally change your views about him being just being cute and not terrifying.
Nymphadora Tonks Lupin: Ha Ji Won

Ha Ji Won is totally Nymphadora Tonks here. It’s the visuals that totally sold me. If I was the director for the Korean version of Harry Potter and Ha Ji Won came to the audition like that, I would totally say, YES! ON THE SPOT!!
Alastor Moody or Madeye Moody: Choi Min Sik

Alastor Moody and Choi Min Shik both look pretty torn up on the above images. These two men look like they have been through a lot too. Don’t you see the scars on their faces? Also the gentleman that played Moody and Choi Min Sik are both character actors so that’s another similarity for sure.
Professor Mcgonagall: Kim Hye Ja

Maggie Smith who played Professor Mcgonagall is a veteran actress and so is Kim Hye Ja. I can totally see Kim Hye Ja pull off Minerva because she comes off like a strict mother but she does it because she really cares about the children. Professor Mcgonagall was all about following orders but she was never mean about it, she was all about being fair but she tries her best to not let the children get away with doing bad things. Kim Hae Ja gives me a similar vibe. I think it’s because of the characters that Ms. Kim played most of her life. She tends to be good with being motherly but she is definitely not the type to smother the kids nor spoil them. She is all about balance just like Professor Mcgonagall.
Horace Slughorn: Byun Hee Bong

Slughorn felt a bit silly compared to most teachers in Hogwarts. However, in Master of Study, Mr. Byun Hee Bong played the strict math teacher…So you would ask me why are you picking a man that played a strict teacher when Slughorn was a little on the silly side you might say but here’s the deal….Byun Hee Bong’s character might have been a strict math teacher but he still kinda came off silly to me in his own little way, especially when is trying his best to discipline the kids.
Gilderoy Lockhart: Lee Byung Joon

Both Gilderoy Lockhart and Lee Byung Joon are bit of a diva. In the Harry Potter story Mr. Lockhart was flamboyant and on top of that he came off to be a fraud. Lee Byung Joon played a character named Anthony Yang in Master of Study and in that show the Korean counterpart for Lockhart was a bit of a diva and also he wasn’t very clear about his intentions.
Professor Umbridge: Kang Moon Young

Umbridge was quite scary and she practically terrorized the kids. Kang Moon Young was really scary in a show called Arang and the Magistrate. Both of these women were terrifying to me so this is why I chose Kang Moon Young to play the role for Umbridge.
Peter Pettigrew: Eom Hyo Seop

Peter Pettigrew is a bit of a slimy weasel character and Eom Hyo Seop would be able to play this character pretty naturally. Eom Hyo Seop tends to play characters that are always doing something sneaky and underhanded so this would be perfect for him.
Rita Skeeter: Bang Eun Hee

Both of these women are dressed in a super fancy way. They look like they are ready to attend some form of super fancy get together.
Lucious Malfoy: Shin Hyun Joon

I think it’s the eyes of Shin Hyun Joon that makes me feel convinced that he can pull off lucious Malfoy.
Narcissa Malfoy: Chae Shira

Both are very elegant perhaps? And maybe a little too extravagant for their own good?
Dobby: Park Ji Bin

I think they can use some CG on Jibin just like what they did with Andy Serkis for Gollum in the Lord of the Rings. I chose Park Ji Bin to be Dobby because this guy looks tiny enough to be the character with a little help of CG.
James Potter: Yeon Woo Jin

James Potter might have been good at quidditch and pretty popular in school but in the end he wasn’t such a nice guy, he bullied Severus when they were both kids. I think Yeon Woo Jin looks good in glasses too. He looks scholarly, handsome enough to be popular and also I think he can possibly play someone that bullies a friend just because he can.
Lily Potter: Shin Min Ah

I really don’t have any good reason but she just FEELS like LILY POTTER to me….No other explanation, sorry. If I think of something, I will add it here.
Dudley: Shindong (SUJU)

I hate to say this, but I kinda ran out of young chubby guys…..
Uncle Vernon: Kang Ho Dong

I don’t think they really match personality wise but their looks resemble each other haha….Well, it’s not easy finding a plump actor or actresses that are Korean…Sorry, if this sounds offensive, I am not trying to be….
Aunt Petuenia: Bae Jong Ok

Aunt Peuteunia is a not a very nice person and she can be a bit mean. Bae Jong Ok seems to have similar personality in a show called WILD CHIVES AND SOYBEAN SOUP…
Molly Weasley: Lee Bo Hee

Molly Weasley likes to nag at her kids a lot but she does it out of love though. Lee Bo Hee was in a show called Smile Dong Hae back a handful of years ago and in that show she liked nagging at her kids a lot. Of course she was doing it out of love and concern like Molly Weasley.
Arthur Weasley: Lim Chae Moo

Aurthur Weasley is coolheaded compared to Molly. Well, Im Chae Moo played Lee Bo Hee’s husband in Smile Dong Hae and in that drama the couple was very similar to the ones from Harry Potter. The father being coolheaded while the wife being very passionate about things.
Percy Weasley: Ji Chang Wook

Percy is the smartest kid out of the Weasleys if I can remember correctly and he is also a very strict prefect. I can see Ji Chang Wook laying down the rules when the time comes and I can picture him being a good student too.
