Joseon Magician or just The Magician is a movie starring Yoo Seung Ho and Go Ara and it will be released sometime in this December from what I understand. I don’t know why but I thought this movie had already come out but I guess I was wrong. I wonder how I will be able to watch this movie when it comes out, hopefully, I will find a way. There is always a way for something like this for the most part.
Now, the premise of the movie. This movie takes place in the Joseon Dynasty, I am not quite sure what era but it’s setting is Joseon Dynasty nonetheless. We Will get to see our actor Yoo in another historical flick again. Anyways, this movie is about a princess of Joeseon going over to Qing to get married, however, on the way over there she meets a young man that is a magician. Because of this, Yoo Seung Ho’s character’s life is on the line and is at risk too for having the girl fall in love with him since she was supposed to be married off to someone in Qing.
There is not much to go by premise wise. I been seeing nothing but short and sweet premises floating around on the internet regarding this film.I want to know more about it. I have a love hate relationship with period dramas because they could be not very accurate when it comes to the actual history. I am a history buff so I tend to take it a little seriously but since my favorite actor is going to be in it so I will support it by watching it.
It’s really awesome to see Yoo Seung Ho back in action. He’s been back from the military for awhile now and he has 4 different projects lined up for him. Two are period dramas while the other two are modern pieces. Like I stated above, Yoo Seung Ho has been in many period dramas and I would like to name a few. He was in the King and I, The immortal Yi Soon Shin,Taeehwang Sashinki,Great Queen Seon Deok, Warrior Baek Dong Su, Arang and the Magistrate and now, he’s in Joseon Magician and Kim Seon Dal.
I really think Seung Ho looks awesome in traditional clothing. He looks so good in modern clothing and yet he can pull off clothes from the ancient times as well. This time, in Joseon Magician, he will have long hair again like in Great Queen Seon Deok, Warrior Baek Dong Su and Arang and the Magistrate. I think he will look cool again, just like in those times. However, I don’t think I have really seen him in period dramas where he wore those traditional hats that the scholars wear or even the hats that the Kings/Emperors wear. I do know that he does wear those hats in King and I and Immotal Yi Soon Shin, but I haven’t seen him in action in those dramas. However, I have seen some images of them on Google. Oh yea, how can I forget! Briefly he does dress up like one of those Joseon Scholars in Arang and the Magistrate though. I am pretty stoked about seeing a cool looking Seung Ho.
Generally, I have a thing for magic, magicians, sorcerer, and sorcery. I love it when Seung Ho plays the type of character that I’m interested it in. I wonder what kind of magician or sorcerer Seung Ho will be. I kinda dig the poster too because he really looks like one of those cool and legendary video game characters, it’s almost as if he is some awesome and kick ass RPG characters. I love the fact that Seung Ho tries to broaden his acting spectrum instead of playing the same characters over and over again. Seung Ho is smart man and this is why I am his fangirl and I should thank Great Queen Seon Deok for that. I thought he was cute and I used to see him in dramas where I was doing the fangirl stuff towards other actors but Great Queen Seon Deok changed everything. I really loved him as Kim Chun Chu who later becomes King/Emperor.He might have came off like a ditsy kid but he had so much up his sleeves and he played it well.
By looking at the poster of Joseon Magician, I think it will be pretty cool despite some inaccuracies regarding history. Also, I am not so sure about Go Ara as his love interest since I have never seen her in any movie or drama even. I heard of this girl’s name for a long time but I never seen her in anything but I guess there is a first time for everything. I really dig the blue magical eyes of Seung Ho’s character in this film…I wonder if he has magical powers coming out from his laser blue eyes or what. Anyways, I imagined Seung Ho playing a superhero or a sorcerer of some kind from video games, anime,manga/manwa and comic books. This is a good chance for him to shine as someone that can perform something supernatural perhaps.I am even making an attempt to write a comic book based on Seung Ho being like a superhero of some sort, I know this is besides the point of this post, but I cannot help but to share this with everyone that will be reading this.
I think I said a little too much. I just went on blabbing about so many things that really didn’t have any relevance to Joseon Magician. Sorry readers, I sometimes do have a tendency to ramble on and lose track. Anyways, I will stop here. All I can say is that I am looking forward to Joseon Magician!
