My younger sister, Se Young is 5 years younger than me but sometimes I feel like she much younger. She gets herself into trouble and I have to always be there clean things up for her. The thing is I really enjoy looking after her and I think this is what I am really good at, which is to look after others. I do admit it gets tiring sometimes but at the same time nurturing the people I really care about gives me a purpose in life.

Se Young: Hey Bro,can you give some money? I’ve been going to this club a lot lately and I’m out of allowance.

She’s at it again. I guess I have to give her the money, she is my little sister after all.

Chang Wook: Here you go sis but don’t spend it all. 100 dollars is still a lot of money for a girl your age.

Se Young: Okay, Okay you love nagging at me don’t you? Are you sure that your zodiac sign is a cancer? You seem more like a virgo to me with all that nagging.

Chang Wook: I wasn’t trying to nag, it’s just that you do spend a lot money on a daily basis. I don’t want mom to find out and if she does it won’t go so well.

Se Young: I know, but you could cover for me right?

As my sister finished her sentence we both heard  our mom’s voice.

Mom: Se Young, I need you to go to the market for me and get some spinach.

Se Young looked uncomfortable because she was ready to head out once I gave her some money. My sister  kept on looking back and forth at our mom and me. However, I quickly intervened.

Chang Wook: Mother, I can run that errand for you because Se Young has to go to the library….. to….’um’ study.

Mom looked very please about my sister going to study at the library but unfortunately it wasn’t the truth. My mom went back upstairs and my sister whispered something in my ear.

Se Young: Thanks bro. I will pay you back for this.

My sister giggled as she was ready to go have a good time,with probably her friends. I want to protect my sister and even provide for her but I don’t know what to do if she goes out of line. Mom and Dad will hold me accountable since I am older and all.

Meanwhile…..

Se Young: Whoo Hoo…Hey guys let’s drink till we can’t even get up tonight alright?

Policeman: Excuse me students, I would like to see your IDS! Are you guys even old enough to drink?

Se Young: Of course officer. Look.

Policeman: This piece of card shows you that you are underage! Follow me now! I have to call your parents.

I heard a knock but my gut Cancerian instinct was telling me something was off.

Chang Wook: Who is it?

Policeman: It’s the police.

This isn’t good. I wonder what happened. This can’t be good. I let the policeman in and he had my sister by the ear.

Policeman: Is this your sister?

Chang Wook: Yes, what’s the matter officer?

Policeman: This girl was at a bar drinking alcohol with her friends. She is under age isn’t she?

I was really nervous and of course I said it like it is but I still wanted to protect her because she is my sister. Luckily mom went out to go see her neighbor friend and dad is still at work so they don’t have to see this.

Chang Wook: Yes, she is underage. She is almost 18 sir. I hope you understand. Please don’t arrest her. I am sure you even drank when you were underage right sir?

The policeman gave me that laugh as if he couldn’t believe it.

Policeman: Okay, okay, I won’t take her in but please take care of your younger sister so she won’t do this again.

The police left but I felt really angry with my sister for the first time. She caused so much trouble for so long and I was there for always. I felt like I could only nurture so much.

Chang Wook: You know I care about you right?

My sister just looked at me and nodded, obviously she was guilty.

Se Young: I am so sorry bro, I didn’t mean any harm. I am just a wild girl…I have a hard time controlling this.

Chang Wook: You can do all kinds of wild things except for doing things that’s not right for your age…I just don’t want to see you in youth detention center or you getting into trouble by mom and dad okay?

Se Young: Okay…

My sister cried and we hugged. I love my sister and I hope she will understand.
